The Power of Jesus to Heal

Just ONE Touch from the King changes everything

Daily Spirit & Word: 717: The Power Of Jesus Word.

There is POWER in Jesus to Heal

We’ve been following through Mark’s Gospel and we’re now on Chapter 5. The last teaching was about Jesus Power and Authority over Satan and The Demonic, today we observe Jesus healing and raising a little girl from the dead.

The Two Twelves: The Two 12s…
The Woman who has been bleeding for 12 years.
The Little Girl was 12 years old when she died.

Mark 5:21-43 (NIV)
21 When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered round him while he was by the lake.
22 Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came there. Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet 23 and pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.”
24 So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
30 At once Jesus realised that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ “
32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.
33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.
34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

Jairus Get’s Bad News:
35 While Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher any more?”
36 Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.
38 When they came to the home of the synagogue ruler, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly.
39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.”
40 But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was.
41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).
42 Immediately the girl stood up and walked around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.
43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.

12 Years Bleeding: “Just One Touch and I will be healed”.

My friends, that’s real FAITH.

Immediately” Jesus realised POWER had gone out from Him.
That touch of faith brought the POWER of HEAVEN.
My friends, when we approach God with FAITH: The Power of Heaven is OPEN…
FAITH: is believing without doubting. It’s a GIFT from God, so that no one can boast. All faith is a Gift from God.

But remember, our FAITH in what God can and will do will grow the more that we know that we can TRUST Him.
It’s a kind of faith that believes without doubting. Do you have that kind of faith?

Let me illustrate: You already have that kind of faith.

A Chair: How do you know that the SEAT you’re sitting on can hold your weight?

When you came in here today, you didn’t stop to check the chair out, to see if it was wobbly or anything, you just sat right down on it.
If you were a stranger walking into this building today, how would you know you could sit down and the chairs would support your weight?
That’s right, you can see other people sitting down. Lots of them, and they are not falling to the floor with everyone laughing at them.

Also Past Experience of sitting in chairs, they’re pretty dependable aren’t they.

In the same way that you can see others have trusted their chairs and not fallen to the floor, you can also see that in this place, some of the people have put their faith in Jesus Christ. No matter what happens in their lives, they don’t fall down, their faith remains, they keep trusting in Jesus, but why? Why do they keep trusting in Jesus, even when life get tough? It’s because they know Jesus, long years of reaching out and touching the Saviour in faith, have given them the assurance that He’s in complete control and knows what He’s doing.

So if you can see that others have had FAITH in their seats, can you see how impressive it is that others have that same kind of FAITH in Jesus. They have sat in those seats many times, so when they walk in to church they don’t even think about it.

My friends, this Woman who’d been bleeding for 12 Long Years: Must have heard about Jesus’ Miracles and as He passed by in the Crowd that day, she thought to herself, as the Scriptures tell us, “If I just touch the hem of His garments, I will be healed”…

What amazing reasoning: “If this Jesus can heal people of all kinds of diseases and deliver them from Demons, then a little issue of bleeding for 12 years will be nothing for this Miracle worker, all I need to do is reach out and touch Him”.

More about that reaching out to Jesus in a minute, but look what happened next;

NEXT: Jesus Brings LIFE back into a 12 year old dead girl.

The Girls Father: first a word about Jairus.
What encouragement Jesus gave Jairus.
He was a Synagogue Ruler… The Synagogue was a place of worship for Jews. Jairus was a very important man in society.
Mark 5:22-23 “Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet 23 and pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.””

“Jairus FELL AT HIS FEET”: Here was a Ruler falling at Jesus feet and begging Him… My friends, if you want Jesus to do something for you, something you are desperate for the King of Kings to do for you, have you gotten to the point of falling to your knees and pleading with Jesus? Sometimes, we don’t get answers to our prayers UNTIL we’ve gotten to our knees in prayer before God.
It’s not the act of kneeling, it the act of recognition of who Jesus is. Jairus knew only that Jesus was a Miracle worker and teacher. We know that Jesus was God on Earth, that He died because of His love for us, so that we could be forgiven and cleansed of all sin. When we kneel before Jesus today, we’re kneeling before God.

KNEELING: can be just a habit: many people kneel in prayer because that’s what they’ve been taught to do.

But there’s another kind of KNEELING: It’s A Humbling yourself before God. It’s recognising that you don’t deserve anything from Him and yet still coming to Him. Pleading for His grace, mercy, kindness… He loves our FAITH… He loves our TRUST… What’s stopping us KNEELING before Jesus?

PEOPLE KNEEL BEFORE THE QUEEN:
When the New Years Honours come around, people kneel before the Queen to be Knighted. They bow the knee in recognition of her Majesty and Authority. She wears a Crown to symbolise her Majestic Authority over her subjects. When she knights someone she says, “Arise Sir Knight”…
Jesus is the KING of Kings and Queens.
Our Queen has famously said, “I bow the knee to only one other KING and that’s KING Jesus Christ”… The Queen bows to Jesus. Jairus, the Ruler of the Synagogue was in good company… But have we actually BOWED before Jesus?

JUST ONE TOUCH OF THE KING:

The Queen Touches with her sword and says “Arise”… But the KING, our LORD Jesus touches and we cannot help but rise to new heights.

Imagine what frustration Jairus must have felt, when his little girl was at home dying, Jesus stopping along the way to ask, “Who touched Me?”… He would have been thinking to himself, “Oh please Master, come as quick as you can or it will be too late”…
What did Jairus ask Jesus to do for him? “PUT YOUR HANDS ON HER”
Jairus knew there was POWER in the touch of Jesus The Miracle Maker. “Put your hand on her so that she will be healed and live”
Just ONE TOUCH of the KING… Changes everything… (I love that song, because it speaks of a TRUTH about my King Jesus).

  • If it’s us reaching out to Jesus in FAITH: Like the Woman bleeding for 12 years. Changed her life forever. POWER of Heaven Opens: By Faith.
If it’s up Jesus reaching out to us in His MERCY: Like the little girl’s father, Changed her life forever and her family’s life forever. POWER of Heaven Opens: By Faith.

Just ONE TOUCH of the KING: Changes EVERYTHING.

BUT THEY LAUGHED AT HIM:

Notice the CROWD that didn’t believe.

  • Like they laughed at Noah, when He built the ARK of God.
  • Like Sara laughed when the LORD said she would have a baby when she was nearly 100 years old.

My friends, if someone came to you and said, “I’m building an Ark because God is sending a flood to destroy the Earth” you’d probably laugh too.
If someone came to your funeral and said, “Put the boy down, I’m going to bring him back to life” You’d probably laugh too.
If someone came into a hospital today, when the doctors has said, “He’s DEAD” and he said, “He Going to LIVE” those Doctors would probably laugh too.
The CROWD Laughed at Jesus. It’s a laugh of incredulity. It’s a laugh of unbelief. They reason, “We know she’s dead”…

What did Jesus do when they laughed at Him?

That’s right, He put them out of the room. (Mark 5:40).

My friends, it’s a DANGEROUS thing to Laugh at God.
Laughing is Doubting when there’s EVIDENCE that it’s possible.
That kind of laughter is an insult to God.
Jesus put them out of the room.

  • God put Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden, when they doubted God and believed the Devil.
  • God put Abraham’s wife Sara out for a while, when she laughed, when told in her old age she’d have a baby.
  • God put Zechariah, John the Baptist’s Dad out for a while when he laughed, when in their old age he and Sarah would have a baby; He was struck dumb until he wrote what the Angel told him, “His name shall be John”.

Unbelief (Stubborn Doubt) means exclusion from the things of God.
“He put them all out”… For laughing. For their unbelief.
My friends, if you are LAUGHING at the possibilities of what God can do today, be aware that it’s going to be very costly indeed. You might just miss the best Miracles you’ll ever witness in your life; only the parents and Jesus’ disciples; Peter, James and John,¬†observed Jesus touching the little girl and her coming back to life.

Remember what Jesus said to Thomas: “Stop DOUBTING and BELIEVE”…. “It’s ME”….
Jesus response to Thomas’ faith once he’d seen Him: John 20:29 (NIV) “Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.””

Jairus trusted Jesus, instead of laughing, Jairus was full of hope and expectation and faith, he was with Jesus and His disciples in the room when Jesus touched the little girl and LIFE came back into her dead body. That touch of Jesus would change Jairus’ life forever.

After giving the girl back her life Jesus said, “Give her something to eat”…

He didn’t just give back her life, Jesus took care of her hunger too. That’s how much Jesus cares for that little girl my friends.

Do you know, that’s how much Jesus cares for you too. When you get the NEW LIFE Jesus wants to feed you with Manna from Heaven, The Word of God.

Conclusion:

  • With Just a WORD the 12 year old girl received life.
With Just a WORD from God, the Universe was formed.
With Just a WORD from Jesus, Demons flew out of a man.
With Just a WORD from Jesus, The Storm was stilled.
With Just a WORD from Jesus, The Crippled man’s hand was restored.
With Just a WORD from God: Mankind came into this world.
With Jesus WORD Lazarus came out of the grave.

There is POWER in the WORD of God.

  • With Just a TOUCH: Moses parted the Red Sea.
With Just a TOUCH: Water poured from a Rock.
With Just a TOUCH: Jesus opened a Blind Man’s Eyes.
With Just a TOUCH: Jesus opened a DEAF Man’s Ears.

There is POWER in the TOUCH of the SAVIOUR.

My friends, Do you believe? Do you have faith? Do you TRUST Jesus can do all that He promised He can do?
He will come into your life: If you turn in faith and trust in His death upon the Cross for your sins. When you repent and put your FAITH in Him, He’ll do it. Do you believe that Jesus will come into your life? To give you NEW LIFE… Once you get NEW LIFE, you’ll also get a NEW HUNGER (New Desires) for the WORD of God. NEW DESIRES to live God’s way: His righteous life.

Just like you’ve seen others sitting in these chairs and believe they can hold your weight. You have FAITH in your seat.
So you can believe that Jesus will DO ALL He’s Promised: He’ll come into your LIFE today; Give you NEW LIFE, NEW HUNGER, NEW JOY… He may also give you FAITH to believe that He can do anything…

He’ll not only give you NEW LIFE, but a NEW HUNGER too.
How’s your hunger for God’s Word? It’s an indication of your place in God’s Family.
“Like babes in Christ, crave the pure milk of the word of God”…

DILLY & DALLY:
DELAY: When I was 12 Years Old. My mother ran a bath for me. She shouted out to me, “Donald, your bath is ready, the water is warm, come and get your bath before the water gets cold”… I dillied and dallied and by the time I got into that bath, the water was cold.
DON’T Dilly and Don’t Dally, the WATER of FAITH is warm today. Jump in and take the plunge and trust in Jesus.
DON’T Be Like the CROWD who LAUGHED: Jesus coming into your life right now might seem impossible, more than you can possibly dream, but Jesus is real, His promise is real, He’ll come if you just; Believe, Turn from Sin, Accept His Sacrifice of Himself upon the Cross for your sins and Receive Him by Faith… YES! You can do it today!…

What if you’ve done that already? You’ve TRUSTED Jesus.
Have you seen the new James Bond Movie? “Spectre”… James Bond is a Special Secret Agent Number 007.. He’s been selected and trained to infiltrate the enemy, wherever the enemy may be found. My friends, God has chosen you to be His Agents (Ambassadors) in this world. You are like His secret special agents; your number is 777… ūüôā

You might still be laughing like the CROWD: What about the Plans God has for you? Have you laughed inside yourself, thinking I couldn’t do that, I don’t have the strength, the power or the personality… What’s God been calling you to do for Him, but you’ve laughed or doubted? Sara (Abraham’s wife got the shock of her life when she listened in on the conversation) an old lady having a baby; impossible. My friends, God might be calling you to do something for Him that at this moment in time might seem beyond your capacity, your ability, your power, but believe Him, recognise His POWER to do all things, even with you. He’s done it before and He can do it again through your life. Is Jesus calling you to use your GIFTS in His Service, in the Service of the Kingdom? Remember the weaklings in the Bible that God chose for great things; Moses, Gideon, Jeremiah, they all thought they were not upto the task or calling, but God transformed them all.

So my friends, I’m going to ASK YOU: Will you TRUST Jesus Christ: The POWER of His Word, The POWER of His Touch?
Believe me and everyone else here today, who’ll tell you, “It’s TRUE: Jesus Christ has done it for me and He’ll do it for you too”.
Take the plunge, jump in whilst the water is warm and the time is right.
Reach out in Faith and FEEL the POWER of God coming into your life again today.

Don.

NOTE: When delivering this sermon at an All Age Service yesterday, I split it into two: The Woman with the Issue and then the 12 Year old dead girl.

I used another illustration to show the little bit of faith we might have and it’s power.
A glass of water held over someone’s head, up-side-down… The water didn’t come out because a flimsy piece of paper stopped it. The paper is thin, sometimes our faith appears weak, but it has a might force behind it.
When we use our faith, exercise the little faith that we have, Heaven’s Power is Available. Amen!

Hot Juicy Gossip

What the Bible has to say about Gossip

Daily Spirit & Word: 707: Hot Juicy Gossip.

“When I Gossiped, I Sinned.”

“Oh LORD, help me to stop loving all that juicy hot gossip. Amen.”

Good morning my friends, do you know who the most generous people are? Gossips! Why? Because a gossip’s idea of generosity is to keep nothing to himself. HaHa… but seriously, gossip is not funny.

What is Gossip?

Dictionary Definition:

‚Ė∂ noun: casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details which are not confirmed as true:¬†“he became the subject of much local gossip.”

  • a conversation about other people; an instance of gossiping: “she just comes round here for a gossip”.
  • chiefly derogatory a person who likes talking about other people’s private lives.

‚Ė∂ verb (gossips, gossiping, gossiped) engage in gossip: “they would start gossiping about her as soon as she left.”

What does the Bible say about Gossip?
Gossiping Hot Juicy Gossip

You know the temptation don’t you?

When you know something about someone and you are just BURNING to share it. That’s OK if it builds another person up and makes them look good in the eyes of others, but what about when it’s harmful, when it’s going to make them look like a fool in the eyes of others?

“When a woman lowers her voice, and¬†her friends eyebrows raise”… You know it’s GOSSIP…

Have you ever been engaged in a conversation about someone and had to stop talking because they walked into the room or close enough to hear?

Proverbs 17:4 (NLT)
Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip;
liars pay close attention to slander.

Our interest in GOSSIP reveals something dark within our own personality. Something is missing, we’re feeling insecure, we’re angry, we’re holding a grudge… There’s nothing as good as bad news about someone who’s done you a wrong: But there is, because the very fact that you are enjoying it, means you’ve not really forgiven them.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, All the times I’ve been eagerly listening as someone tells me some juicy news about someone else. Oh LORD! Help me to keep my head and be listening out to Your Holy Spirit always. Convicting? I’ll say… Lord You know my heart, and how so many times I’ve been offended by someone or something, then just waited and longed to hear the¬†GOSS¬†about them?…. Oh LORD, forgive my interest in slanderous news. Cleanse my heart from these kind of dark affections. Amen!

  • Gossip: “Usually when the woman who is talking lowers her voice, the woman who is listening raises her eyebrows.”
  • Gossip: “Live in such a way that you would not be ashamed to sell your parrot to the town gossip.”¬†Will Rogers.
  • Gossip: ‚ÄúI have Social Disease. I have to go out every night. If I stay home one night I start spreading rumours to my dogs.‚ÄĚ
    ‚Äē Andy Warhol¬†Andy was addicted to Gossip…

But WHY is Gossip So Tempting?

Why do sincere, Jesus loving, Bible believing, Gospel sharing, Christians, love to gossip about others?

The Bible gives us the answer: “The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man‚Äôs inmost parts‚ÄĚ (Proverbs.¬†26:22)

Read that again:

“The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man‚Äôs inmost parts‚ÄĚ (Proverbs.¬†26:22)

i.e. Gossip is a bit like the promise of the old¬†Heineken¬†Beer advert, it can reach down into places no other beer can reach…¬†LOL

Gossip, according to God’s Word “goes down into a man’s inmost parts“… It tickles our fancy… It appeals to our flesh… It excites our desires.

1 Peter 4:15 (NIV) “If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler.”

A Meddler: is a¬†back-seat¬†driver, a¬†busybody,¬†nosey-parker, it’s a person who meddles in the affairs of others.

Did you know?

Did you know that a Gossip / Gossipper cannot enter into the kingdom of Heaven?

In God’s Eyes: A Gossip is a MURDERER… (Because you are killing someone else with your words).

“Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder,¬†quarrelling, deception, malicious¬†behaviour, and gossip. They are¬†backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God‚Äôs justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.” (Romans¬†1:28-32 NLT)

Those who do those things; i.e. like GOSSIP,¬†deserve¬†to die… Ouch! Now that’s so serious.

Isn’t it strange? We always think that things like; murder, adultery, fornication¬†etc..¬†are so serious that someone needs to be punished for doing them, but NOT Gossip… Yet God’s warning us all today about the seriousness of Gossip, Meddling and Slander.

  • Have you ever Gossiped¬†about someone?
  • Have you ever Listened to Gossip?¬†
  • Have you ever Delighted in Gossip?

When we’re honest with ourselves, we’ll readily admit that we have. Let’s admit it to the Lord too:

Prayer:
Oh LORD! I have to admit that I have listened to gossip, many times, fool that I am, forgive me Lord.
Oh LORD! I also have to admit that there are times that I’ve started gossip, wicked person that I am, forgive me Lord.
Oh LORD! Please fill me to overflowing with your Holy Spirit, help me in the area of Gossip and Slander and Malicious talk. Amen!

Dr Dale A Robbins has a wonderful Biblical insight into the Dangers of Gossip.

(Excerpted from his sight).

Things to Remember about Gossip

  • Gossip is as sinful as murder and will suffer the same consequences unless there is repentance (Rom.¬†1:32).
  • God holds you accountable to your words (Matt.¬†12:36-37).
  • The person who gossips to you about others, also gossips to others about you.
  • Gossip & slander disqualifies persons for spiritual leadership (1 Tim.¬†3:11,¬†Jas.¬†3:2).
  • Gossip often masks as pretentious concerns for others.
  • Gossip often thrives upon secrecy. Where secrecy is removed, gossip is hampered.
  • Gossip always contributes to a problem and never to a solution.
  • Gossip always distorts and exaggerates, and is never a reliable source of truth.
  • Those who gossip & slander are not in right fellowship with God (Rom. 1:28-32).
  • Those who gossip rarely get answers to prayer, and often face persistent, unexplainable problems (Psalms¬†66:18,¬†Prov.¬†21:23, Prov.¬†6:12-15).

What to do about Gossip?

  • If you have been a gossiper, confess this as sin and ask Christ to forgive you. ‚ÄúRepent‚ÄĚ by turning in a new direction and surrendering your tongue to Christ, not to gossip or bad-mouth again (1 John¬†1:9, 1¬†Cor.¬†7:10).
  • Keep your nose out of other people‚Äôs business.
  • If you can‚Äôt say something good or encouraging about others, then keep your mouth shut (Eph.¬†4:29).
  • Never criticize another person, except to their own face with an intent to help. Criticism can never be ‚Äúconstructive‚ÄĚ if expressed to anyone else.
  • If your ‚Äúfriends‚ÄĚ start bad-mouthing others to you, stop them in their tracks — refuse to be a partaker of their sins (1 Tim¬†5:22).
  • Avoid association with persons who gossip (Prov.¬†20:19).
  • Expose works of darkness by reporting gossip to the pastor / minister that he may confront and offer correction. Gossip should be treated as any other vile sin (Eph.¬†5:11).

‚ÄúI will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth as long as the wicked are in my presence‚ÄĚ (Psalms¬†39:1).

It’s my hope and prayer that you’re going to have an awesome weekend full of the joy of the Lord Jesus.

Stay close to Him every day and remember to ask for the filling of Holy Spirit. We all need it every day. Amen!

Don.

Encouragement From Your Brother John

Revelation 1:9 John, your brother

Daily Spirit & Word: 683. Courageous Endurance.

Encouragement from our Brother in the Faith, John the Apostle.

Good morning my friends, when we’re suffering for the faith of Jesus Christ, if we keep in mind our constant hope, to be with the Lord in His Kingdom forever, then we’re going to endure great hardships with gratitude and¬†thanksgiving¬†in our hearts. Why?¬†Because¬†Jesus never promised us it would be easy, but that if we follow Him, we will be persecuted.

Revelation 1:9 (NIV) “I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.”

On Wednesday I had the wonderful privilege of leading a family to faith and trust in Jesus as Lord. It was amazing, definitely a God appointment. There were obstacles to overcome though. Four people, in very humble circumstances, received Jesus as Lord. We sat on the floor of their one roomed flat. A mother, two sons and a girlfriend came as they were to Jesus. I’ll tell their story (with permission) later.

Notice in the Revelation verse above, John is not preaching down to those seven churches that Jesus had told him to write, to; “Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.” No, John is identifying with them all in five ways:

  1. I am your brother.
  2. I am your companion in suffering
  3. I am your fellow in God’s Kingdom.
  4. I am with you practising patient endurance.
  5. I am, like you, suffering for preaching the Word of God and giving testimony of Jesus.

This Was Not Ivory Tower Preaching:

Nobody likes it when someone who is¬†privileged¬†or has a life of ease tells people who have nothing how to patiently endure their hardships. Why don’t people like it? Because a person who has everything, doens’t know what life is like with nothing.

It’s a bit like our Government Ministers who are living in luxury and with a great salary,¬†proclaiming¬†they are going to cut the benefits that the poorest people in society receive. Not only that, but they cut the taxes that the richest people pay. Where is the fairness in that? They tell the poor people, “Get a job” then you won’t need benefits. However, the wages that the poor receive for the jobs they take, don’t cover their living expenses. So the poor get poorer and the rich get richer.

No wonder those on benefits resent our Government’s unfair policy.

I think that’s why Jesus chose fishermen and outcasts to be His closest Disciples, because they’d been through hardships, they knew what life was like with nothing. One time Jesus followers had been fishing all night and had caught nothing. Imagine working hard for no wages? They knew what it was like to struggle and to suffer, so when they preached the Gospel, the people knew they were ordinary men once, just like them. They were not drawn from high-society, not many were of noble birth or princes or entrepreneurs, not many of Jesus Disciples were born with a silver-spoon in their mouths.

No my friends, nobody likes to hear a message about endurance, if the one delivering it is not a¬†partner¬†in the suffering as well. John had to endure great hardship for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was in EXILE on Patmos because of the Word of God and His Testimony about Jesus Christ. Because he wouldn’t stop preaching, they sent him to a lonely island and imprisoned him there, but did that stop John? No! God’s ways are far higher than our ways. The Lord had planed that exile for John long before the Authorities had even thought about it. Nothing takes God by surprise my friends. Everything you go through in life, God knows about it in advance.

You might end up marooned on an Island like John. I hope not, but if you have to endure any hardship for Jesus, it’s not the end my friends, it just might be a new beginning. An opportunity to serve the Lord in a different way.

The Words Endurance: It was originally an expression in Greek for the pressure a large stone could exert: I.e. Like a mill-stone on wheat. Imagine you are a grain of wheat and you see the great mill-stone rolling your way, there’s no way to escape, you’ve just got to bear the crushing pressure. Will you survive? My friends, in Jesus, in His Kingdom, we can and will endure anything for His sake.

You may be experiencing great pressure because of your faith in Jesus Christ today. We are, because society is becoming increasingly intolerant of those who have a sincere desire to follow the teachings of Jesus and live according to the principles of God’s Word. Why? Because they’re bringing us into conflict with a world that wants to go it’s own way instead of God’s way. The world has chosen to uphold detestable lifestyles as good, and is now coming down hard on those who don’t comply or agree.

Think about how the world has chosen to play around with human eggs, thinking that a fertilised egg is just an¬†embryo¬†or a¬†foetus¬†instead of the truth, it’s a baby. It might be a very small baby, but when an human egg is fertilised by sperm, then life has begun. We are forbidden from killing babies by God’s Word and indeed for any form of murder. Now if you show people pictures of aborted babies you are the one who’s classified as an extremist or being too dogmatic.

You might find that you are in a prison one day, like John, for proclaiming God’s Word and giving Testimony about Jesus. Don’t be surprised when that happens, because my friends, God is not. He has warned that in the last days, things would take a turn for the worse.

Matthew 24:12-14 “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,¬†13 ¬†but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.¬†14 ¬†And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

When John Said Endure Patiently: He LIVED it Himself.

Revelation 1:9 (NIV) “I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.”

He, John, was a living example of what Peter talked about: 1 Peter 3:14-17 (NIV) Suffering For Doing Good:
14 ¬†But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.”
15  But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
16 ¬†keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.¬†17 ¬†It is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

My friends, Don’t FEAR what the world FEARS.

  • Endure hardship.
  • Preach the Gospel.
  • Teach Jesus Word.
  • Make Disciples.
  • He’s with you, through everything, endure to the end.

One last thing; Here’s what to do if you are facing hardships for the faith:

Hebrews 12:1-4 (NIV)
1  Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
2  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
4  In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

When the Going Gets Tough.

The Tough Get Going: In Jesus.

Praying that you are going to experience the closeness of Jesus throughout all your trials. Don’t grow weary or loose heart, but instead persevere and endure with patience and joy in the Lord, and don’t stop preaching or teaching what Jesus commanded my friends, keep snatching souls from the flames licking at their feet. Amen!

Don.

Christian Concern:

Committed to Fellowship

Koinonia

Daily Spirit & Word: 675: Commitment to Fellowship.

Good morning my friends, I’ve got an Assembly at St Luke’s School today. The subject is Koinonia and I thought I’d share a little of my preparation for that with you.

NOTE: This is not what I’ll be sharing at the Assembly: There I’ll be focusing on Acts 2: The Believers Devotion.

KOINONIA: Committed to; Fellowship, Friendship, Unity in Truth and Love.

Question: “What is koinonia?”

Koinonia is a strange Greek word that is jam-packed with meaning.

Answer: Koinonia is an Ancient Greek word that occurs 20 times in the Bible.

Koinonia‚Äôs primary meaning is ‚Äúfellowship, sharing in common, communion.‚ÄĚ

The first occurrence of koinonia is Acts 2:42, ‚ÄúThey devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.‚ÄĚ

Christian fellowship is a key aspect of the Christian life.

The Christian’s Walk with Jesus was NEVER meant to be a LONE RANGER experience: If you don’t live on a deserted island, then you are meant to be having FELLOWSHIP with other believers in Christ.

  • Koinonia is not an optional extra for the Christians, it an expected and commanded commitment to devoted fellowship.
  • Believers in Christ are commanded to gather together regularly: Breaking of Bread (remembering Christ).
  • Believers in Christ are commanded to behave themselves as they gather, thinking of the others in the gathering. (Being Respectful). 1 Corinthians Chapters 11, 12 and 13, 14.¬†
  • Believers in Christ are to come together in love, faith, and encouragement.

That is the essence of the meaning of Koinonia.

We’ll see that if we read the Bible and the Teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:1-2 declares, ‚ÄúIf you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.‚ÄĚ

Koinonia is being in agreement with one another, being united in purpose, and serving alongside each other.

Our koinonia with each other is based on our common koinonia with Jesus Christ.

First John 1:6-7 says, ‚ÄúIf we say that we have fellowship (Koinonia) with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship (Koinonia) with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.‚ÄĚ

1 John 1:3 Is an encouragement to an even deeper Koinonia with one-another.

1 John 1:3 (ANIV) “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.”

When we come to Jesus Christ, we are filled with HIS LOVE: Romans 5:8, so much so that we’re overflowing with that same love that Jesus had for other people, we’ll want them to experience God’s love too. “so that they too will experience the same kind of Koinonia that you have with Jesus”.

If you don’t care about other people, then be assured of this; the LOVE of Jesus is not in you. You are not filled with the Holy Spirit, you might not even be a truly converted and born again Christian.

A powerful example of what koinonia should look like can be found in a study of the phrase ‚Äúone another‚ÄĚ in the Bible. Scripture commands us to be devoted to one another (Romans 12:10), honor one another (Romans 12:10), live in harmony with one another (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8), accept one another (Romans 15:7), serve one another in love (Galatians 5:13), be kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32), admonish one another (Colossians 3:16), encourage one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 3:13), spur one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24), offer hospitality (1 Peter 4:9), and love one another (1 Peter 1:22; 1 John 3:11; 3:23; 4:7; 4:11-12). That is what true biblical koinonia should look like.

Another powerful word study in the New Testament is: Others.

“Consider other better than yourself”…

How to treat other, outsiders, strangers, aliens: Hospitality, Kindness, Respect, Love.

In short our Fellowship with Jesus Christ will and should CHANGE us to become more like Him. More like God towards everyone.

Consider Jesus’ teaching about our enemies: We’re to bless them, do good to them, walk an extra mile, turn the other cheek, forgive men when they sin against us, etc….

Believers are encouraged not only to be Born-Again, but to have their MINDS renewed.

A transformed mind: Romans 12.

Koinonia is Fellowship: Committed friendship, Unity and Co-operation with one-another.

Have an awesome day with Jesus and your brothers and sisters in the faith.

Don.

P.S. We had fantastic KOINONIA last night at Discipleship Fellowship. And I hoping that tonight as we go out and share Jesus, we’ll experience it again on the Streets of West Norwood.

Trinity Revealed

God is; Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Daily Spirit & Word: 635. Trinity REVEALED.

The Holy Trinity and The Holy WORD of God.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit: In The Holy Scriptures.

Good morning my friends, you know it’s come to my attention that there are some who think there a many different paths to God, even within the ranks of those who profess a belief in Jesus. The Bible is God’s Word and in it we’re commanded by God to worship Him in Spirit and Truth. That means when the Bible tells us something about God it is TRUE, not just for a moment or for a season, but for all ETERNITY.

Through the ministry of the LORD Jesus Christ, we are clearly shown that God is in fact three distinct persons: The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. All are God, all three are God Almighty. No other religion on the face of the Earth has revealed God in such a way before, but that doesn’t mean the Trinity is not in the Old Testament of the Jews. It is, but we would not have looked for it until we’d heard it from the lips of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Jesus had a lot to say about His Father and the Holy Spirit, but so does the Old Testament. When you are full of God the Holy Spirit, it’s one of His roles to open up our understanding of all the Scriptures (both the Old and the New Testaments).

So can we find the TRINITY in the Old Testament?

We can my friends, in many different places. Like Sherlock Holmes, the great detective in novels, who could find clues that no one else could discern, we too can discover the Holy Trinity, because the clues are all hidden in plain sight.

Take for instance the first few verses of Isaiah 6.

Isaiah 6:1-5
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.
2  Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.
3 ¬†And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”
4  At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
5 ¬†“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

Did you notice the calling of the winged creatures, “Holy, Holy, Holy: is the LORD Almighty.”

  • Holy Father,
  • Holy Son, (Word, Truth, Way, Life, Gate, Shepherd, I AM).
  • Holy Spirit.

Holy, Holy, Holy indicates that there were THREE Person’s on the Throne in Heaven.

Some have believed as the Jews have done for many years, that the refrain was added to emphasise the Holiness of God. How utterly unapproachable is His Holiness. No one can look at His holiness and live. That is TRUE as well, but why did they say and repeat; “Holy, Holy, Holy: The winged creatures were in the presence and full revelation of TRINITY.

Even Jesus said, “No one has seen God” John 1:18.

John 1:18 “No-one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.”

Who is it that is at the Father’s side? A great Sunday School answer “Jesus Christ the Son of God”…

It’s awesome to think that Isaiah was given an insight into Heaven in a vision. That’s why Jesus words are true, “No one has ever seen God” apart from Himself who came from God the Father. That is why we can TRUST that every word of Jesus is TRUE. Isaiah had a vision of Heaven, but He didn’t see God in fullness. He had a partial revelation of Heaven. How awesome must that have been, but think how fantastically good it’s going to be when we get to Heaven and actually see God face to face.

HOW CAN WE TRUST THE BIBLE?

Some people object and say, “The Bible is written by men, men are fallible, men make things up, so how can we KNOW that the Bible really is the Word of God?”

You will never know the TRINITY or that the Bible really is God’s Word until you get God inside you: Then God the Holy Spirit will bring the WORD of God to life for you. He draws us to faith in Jesus through the Word, but once we’ve trusted in Jesus Christ: Oh WOWzer! He then opens up God’s Word in awesome ways for us. We don’t see it any longer as a book written by men, but as it actually is: The Living, active and powerful Word of God.

You may not be a Christian yet, but read the following out aloud: read it twice from the NIV and the NLT.

2 Timothy 3:15-17 (NIV)
15  and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
17  so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:15-17 (NLT)
15  You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.
16  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
17  God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

How can we TRUST the Bible? Because it’s NOT just the work of men; they were moved by God’s Holy Spirit to write those WORDS, that’s why the Scriptures are called HOLY, because they come from God.

2 Peter 1:17-21 God’s Word & The Trinity.
17 ¬†For he received honour and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
18  We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
19  And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
20 ¬†Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation.
21  For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

In the above passage from Peter we discover that not only is God three distinct persons, but that ALL prophesies and Scriptures  were give by God the Holy Spirit.

Peter heard the voice of God the Father from Heaven; “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I AM well pleased”.

The Morning Star: is the brightest star in the sky in the morning, it can still be clearly seen as the sun rises from the darkness of night. Jesus Christ is the Morning Star and when you get Jesus, when you trust in Jesus Christ, then the light of understanding and KNOWING will follow; the Holy Spirit will open up God’s WORD and you’ll see from the Scriptures so much more than you ever did or could without God’s personal revelation to you.

We can ONLY Know God as Father through Jesus the Son and the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. We can only truly understand and know the Bible as God’s WORD when we receive Jesus as Lord. It’s amazing how that submission, the surrender of our life to God gives us so much more than we bargain for.

So to KNOW that there is a TRINITY, we must first come to Jesus Christ in faith.

Faith comes to us as a GIFT from God the Father: by HEARING God’s WORD. (That’s why I said, “read the following passage out loud” earlier). Faith really does come by HEARING the word of God.

But we are SAVED once we exercise that gift of faith by putting our trust in Jesus Christ and receiving Him as Lord and Saviour.

It is not enough to say “Oh I believe in Jesus”… Even the Devil believes in Jesus, but he’s not trusted Him as his Saviour or turned to Him in repentance from his wickedness.

  • Without Repentance there is NO Salvation (we cannot be SAVED until we first REPENT).
  • Without RECEIVING JESUS CHRIST there is NO Salvation (we cannot be SAVED until we first RECEIVE Jesus as our Lord and Saviour).
  • Finally, without the faith in, the repentance of sin and the receiving of Jesus Christ as Lord, we cannot be filled with God’s Holy Spirit. The man without the Spirit of God is still DEAD in his transgressions and sins.

Once you’ve come to Jesus, the Word of God comes alive within your heart.

Once you’ve come to Jesus, the Holy Spirit of God enables you to see: The Holy Trinity.

It’s by the Holy Spirit that we KNOW God as Father.

Now taking all that I’ve just said about the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit: Read the following verses out LOUD if you can.

Romans 8:6-16 LIFE IN THE SPIRIT.
6  The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;
7 ¬†the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
8  Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
9  You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
10  But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.
11  And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
12 ¬†Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation‚ÄĒbut it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.
13  For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live,
14  because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
15 ¬†For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father.”
16 ¬†The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.¬†

Life and PEACE come when we get Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes into you and makes you into a NEW CREATURE (A new creation, New life, the old has gone the new has come.)… You are DIFFERENT once you’ve got the Holy Spirit in you.

  • You’ll want to live differently, you want to be HOLY because your body is the Temple (the dwelling place of God).
  • You’ll want to act differently, because you’ll be like Jesus, you’ll want to live to please God the Father.
  • You’ll want to be different, you’ll desire the fullness of the Holy Spirit, once you’ve tasted the goodness of God, the JOY is beyond human words to express.
  • You’ll KNOW freedom from FEAR when you are full of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Remember the old adage: “Only Scripture and you’ll dry up, Only Spirit and you’ll blow up: We need God the Spirit and God’s Holy Word”.

Have an awesome day WITH Jesus your LORD and SAVIOUR.

Be full of God: The Holy Spirit.

Cry out to God your Heavenly Father.

Don.

Learning to LOVE Like Jesus.

loving like Jesus, hating like Jesus

Daily Spirit & Word: 612: Learning to LOVE Like Jesus.

John 13:34-35¬†“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.¬†35 ¬†By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Good morning my friends, I was awoken by a weird sound in the bedroom, it was like a rat chewing through the carpet. We’ve had rats here before and my heart sank to think that they’re back again and in my bedroom. However, when I got up and began walking around the sound just got louder and louder, it was an old lampshade wobbling in it’s stand. My wee heart lifted again ūüôā LOL. Funny how we can be so mistaken and how our imaginations run wild at times.

The Word of the Lord tells us we’re being transformed into the likeness of Christ, that means we’ll begin more and more to think like Jesus as well; so I was right yesterday to say something about HATE, but I was also right in my thinking that my message would not get many people to LIKE it. It seems that just like rats in the bedroom, we have a natural aversion to the word HATE and we can be so mistaken as well.

Learning to LOVE like Jesus is a much more appealing title than “Learning to HATE like Jesus” isn’t it?

Non-the-less, LOVE is just as difficult as HATE for us to actually put into practice like Him.

Jesus perfectly fulfilled Old Testament prophesy concerning His Character, the character of the Messiah.

Luke 24:25-27 Jesus Explaining to the Disciples on the Road to Emmaus.
25 ¬†He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
26 ¬†Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”
27  And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

WOWzer! That must have been so awesome, to have Jesus Himself explaining how He is prophesied about in ALL the Scriptures: From Moses (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy) The first five books of the Old Testament are called the Book of Moses, and Pentateuch or The Law, but that doesn’t mean they were all written by the hand of Moses, they are about Moses and the Law and the Beginnings of all things, so generally ascribed the Books of MOSES. But it’s that statement that get me today, “How SLOW OF HEART TO BELIEVE ALL THAT THE PROPHETS HAVE WRITTEN”…

What does that OLD TESTAMENT teach us about LOVE?

When we’re learning to LOVE like Jesus, it means living the way He wants us to live.

In the Old Testament Moses permitted men to give a certificate of divorce to a woman, so that she’d be free to marry another man.

Deuteronomy 24:1-2 (KJV)
1 ¬†When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.¬†2 ¬†And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife.

However, though Jews from that time up until the present day permit such divorce, it was NOT God’s intention from the beginning, because the Bible clearly reveals that God HATES divorce.

Jesus corrected the common misunderstandings and false notions concerning Divorce and LOVE.

Matthew 5:31-32 Jesus Teaching About Divorce (LOVE).
31¬†“It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’ (Jesus is referring to the Dueteronomy 24:1-2 reading above).
32 ¬†But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.”

Real LOVE: Means working through your problems. Not running away when the going gets tough, even in marriage.

I can’t tell you the number of times, since I’ve been a Minister, that people have come to me and declared, as an excuse or reason for them wanting to get divorced “We’re just not compatible any more”… Hello! this is wake-up time ūüôā NONE, Nobody, No-ONE is Compatible with another human being; we’re ALL created different. Just check your fingerprints, they’re all different. ūüėé ¬†What they really mean is, “We’re not able to get along with each other any more”... or “We don’t really like each other like we did when we first got married”“romance has gone out of our relationship”

My friends, LOVE must be sincere: If we LOVE like Jesus wants us to (1 Corinthians 13) then we’ll be able to be in LOVE forever with our wife and husband.

We must say that Marital Unfaithfulness: Is not just ‘fornication’ or ‘adultery’: Marital unfaithfulness includes; Abuse, Harsh Treatment, Violence towards a woman or man. It’s being totally unfaithful when we’re abusive to our spouses. I believe that Jesus (God) permits divorce in such circumstances, when the abuse is ongoing or untreatable. God would never permit a man to be violent and abusive to his wife. We must LOVE our wife as Christ has loved the church: He gave His LIFE for us. (Ephesians 5:25).

However, the normal remedy for a loveless marriage is to learn to love more like Jesus (God).

LEARNING To LOVE AGAIN:

I’ve known countless couples who’ve learned to love again and the feelings of romantic love have returned to their relationships. When we actually put into practice the teaching of 1 Corinthians 13 we become more lovable and attractive to our spouse. It’s like a miracle and it can happen in a very short space of time. The turnaround in attitude is totally awesome when we love like God loves. Every marriage or close relationship goes through difficult times when we find it hard to get along and like each other, but we can do it with God’s help. Feelings can change, don’t believe what the world tells you. Your marriage or friendship is NOT OVER just because at the moment you don’t feel it or feel the love. It will come back again when we follow God’s guide to loving.

Why does God hate divorce so much?

You can’t open an envelope without some bits of the paper tearing. You can’t divorce without someone getting hurt, even if your divorce is ‘amicable’ it hurts and offends God.

Malachi 2:14-16 God Explains Through His Prophet Malachi why He hates Divorce (lack of love).
14 ¬†You ask, “Why?” It is because the LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.
15  Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are His. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.
16 ¬†“I hate divorce,” says the LORD God of Israel, “and I hate a man’s covering himself with violence as well as with his garment,” says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.

  • It’s breaking faith with the woman (man) that you are meant to be LOVING.
  • It’s breaking apart something that the LORD has made ONE.

We may think, “we’re just separating”, “so many are doing it these days”, “so there’s nothing much wrong with divorce” … Well there is my friends, it’s taking something that God Himself has made and trashing it. Marriage is NOT just something we do to each other, God is involved in every marriage covenant between and man and a woman. He makes us ONE. There’s a mystical union that takes place when a man and a woman give themselves to each other in marriage.

It’s amazing, but when we learn to LOVE like the LORD, we’re also learning to HATE what He hates. He HATES divorce, He HATES evil, He HATES sin, but He HATES it because He’s so full of LOVE for those He has created and in that LOVE for us all, He doesn’t want us to get hurt or to hurt each other. When we get divorced it also brings a curse upon the land we live in. If only the Jews had kept reading in the books of Moses they’d have discovered God’s original intent in teaching about divorce and how much He hates it. Reading it in context you’ll discover what Moses was actually saying;

Deuteronomy 24:4 “then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the LORD. Do not bring sin upon the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

If you are having a hard time LOVING each other, then SOAK yourself in God’s teaching about LOVE in 1 Corinthians 13 and all the chapters Jesus taught about loving. He even tells us to LOVE our¬†enemies, how much more should we love those that we are in a close relationship with?

John 13:34-35¬†“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.¬†35 ¬†By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Let’s learn to LOVE like Jesus.

It is possible to learn to love like Jesus in the power of God’s Holy Spirit.

Have an AWESOME Wednesday with Jesus,

Don.

P.S. We’re going out tonight at 5.00pm to Share the Good News of Jesus on the Streets.

Meeting up at St Luke’s Church, West Norwood London.

Come, let’s go outside the camp and be like Jesus.

The Condition of The Un-Saved

Compassion Compels the Believer to Share the Good News of Jesus Christ

Daily Spirit & Word: 608: The Condition of The Unsaved.

Good morning my friends, there’s a reason the Lord Jesus told His followers to be “GENTLE”… There’s a reason why Jesus had “COMPASSION”…

If you observed a person in a wheelchair at the bottom of the stairs on the London Underground would you leave him to struggle to the top of the stairs on his own? Just take a moment to imagine that scene. Many of London’s Underground Stations don’t have lifts and I’ve seen people struggling many times; mothers with prams and babies, old people with really heavy suitcases, etc… Now, if you saw a crippled person in a wheelchair and they couldn’t get up the stairs, what would you do? You’d obviously have compassion on them, you’d try and get a few others, complete strangers, to help you get the man to the top. It’s unlikely today you’d find a member of the Underground Staff to help. It’s up to you! You can either respond or leave them there to wait. What would you do?

Now: Think of the Condition of the UnSAVED Person. They can’t see, they are blind, they don’t know the way to Heaven, they can’t get up there by themselves and even if they could, they would NOT be allowed in.

What would you do if you saw a poor, blind and ignorant un-SAVED person?

Well, if God’s Holy Spirit is in you, then He would fill you with the same COMPASSION that Jesus had for the lost. Your whole inward desire will be the same as God’s; to lead that person from darkness into the light, from blindness to sight, from Ignorance to the Knowledge of Salvation.

The Unsaved Person:

  • Doesn’t know that he needs Jesus’ love, death and sacrifice.
  • Doesn’t know that he is heading towards the judgement and eternal damnation.

It would be foolish to say to that person: “Jesus loves you and died for you.” Why is that a foolish thing to say? Because the unsaved person is not aware that he was in any danger or that he needed someone to give their life for him. It’s complete foolishness that a person would give their life for them, because, as far as they are aware, they didn’t need to do it for them.

Surely common sense and real compassion would move you to let the person see their predicament first, then offer them the solution so they could grab-hold and never let go.

The Unsaved Person:

  • Doesn’t know that he is headed for Hell.¬†

So you can’t just say: “Repent or you are going to burn in Hell forever“. That’s just as bad as saying Jesus died for you because He loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. They’ve got their own plans and they are enjoying living their life in ignorance. It’s foolishness to the unsaved person. They don’t know that they’ve done anything wrong, enough that deserves being punished in Hell forever.

The Condition of The Unsaved Person:

Is Blinded by Satan: 2 Corinthians 4:4.

Is Walking in Darkness: John 1:5, Isaiah 9:2. Matthew 4:16-17.

Is Ignorant of their Sin disease: Romans 10, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23.

Is Convinced that he’s a good person. Proverbs 20:6.

Is Unaware that he needs a Saviour: Romans 10:14-15.

Is Convinced that if there is a God, He’ll be loving and will let everyone into Heaven anyway. John 3:17-ff

Is Headed for Hell and is NOT aware of the reasons why: They’ve broken God’s Holy Law, revealed in the Commandments, they are sinners in need of forgiveness, deliverance, cleansing and the power of Heaven in their souls.

So if you’d help a crippled person get up the stairs on the London Underground, then surely you’d have the human decency to help a poor unsaved soul find Salvation from certain judgement and eternal damnation? If they are headed for Hell as the Bible reveals, and that God will JUDGE everyone, surely, we who know the answer to their predicament won’t keep quiet. Compassion compels us to reach out and SAVE.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (NLT) “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don‚Äôt believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don‚Äôt understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”

Matthew 4:16-17¬†“the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”¬†17 ¬†From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

Isaiah 9:2 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

Proverbs 20:6 (NKJV)¬†“Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man?”

Romans 10:14-15 (NKJV)¬†How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?¬†15 ¬†And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

HOW CAN THEY SEE? HOW CAN THEY HEAR?

My friends, the Unsaved are in a terrible plight, their eternal welfare is hanging in the balance. An old preacher said, “They are dangling over the fires of hell by nothing by a thread and the thread is already on fire and will break any moment, then they will fall, fall headlong into the pit of Hell” Unless someone reaches out to grab hold of them and save them. That’s YOU! That’s ME! We KNOW the truth, we’ve been brought from darkness into the light for a reason. The Lord has opened up our eyes so that we can see. Let’s have the same compassion as Jesus did and reach out and save as many as we can.

When we observe the dire condition of the unsaved person, then Divine, Holy Compassion will compel us to reach out and save those poor, blinded and lost souls. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost.

YBH: Yes! But HOW?

There’s a simple way, it’s the Way of The Master: The Lord Jesus Christ. He let people see and know that they needed a Saviour first, then told them to trust in Him. Yes Jesus did love people, we should too, Yes Jesus did heal people, we should too, but Jesus also warned the people, He was so full of LOVE that He couldn’t leave them in ignorance of their sinful condition and the eternal consequences if they refused to repent. The woman caught in the act of adultery: “Neither do I condemn you, but leave your life of sin”….”Repent, for the Kingdom of God is close at hand”. “Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish”… Yes Jesus is LOVE, but He’s also JUST. God will punish sinners, we’ve got a job to do to try and help those poor blinded souls, see the Salvation that’s on offer from Heaven today.

So my friends, be gentle with the blinded people, love them, guide them, show them the way of Salvation and enlighten them about their predicament unless they turn and grab hold of the heavenly arm that’s reaching out to save them.

Have a fantastic weekend, may the LORD enable you to have gentle compassion on everyone who doesn’t know HIM as Lord or Saviour.

A Darkness That Can Be Felt: Walk In The Light

A great darkness covered the land

Daily Spirit & Word, 550: Walk In The Light

Great Is The Darkness: “A Darkness That Can Be Felt”

Good morning my friends, I was half-dreaming half-awake this morning at 4.30am and the Lord was speaking to me about the DARKNESS. I got up quickly and opened my Bible and the Software and began to study the ‘darkness’ in the Bible.

The Word the Lord gave me was; “A Darkness that may be felt.”

Exodus 10:21 (NIV) “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand towards the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt‚ÄĒdarkness that can be felt.””

  • When Mankind walks away from God, they walk away from the light into a DARKNESS that can be felt.
  • A moral darkness covers the land.
  • To be in the darkness is to be without the light of Christ.
  • To be in the dark, is to be blind, blinded, can’t see.

They are blinded to their need of salvation. 2 Cor 4:4.
They are blinded to their moral condition. (Call sin good).
They are blinded to their destiny. (Don’t believe, choose not to accept, deny; Hell).
They are robbed of a sense of fear of God (They are bold, brazen about sin).
They are darkened in their understanding of anything good.

Great IS the Darkness.

Last night at the Monthly Prayer Meeting in Church, we touched upon the subject of the moral condition of those that don’t yet know Christ as Lord. A great discussion ensued about homosexuality being the NEW Schism in the church. How many who call themselves Christians are now saying that it’s OK to be homosexual, even so called Evangelicals are walking over to the dark side.

We got that from just re-reading Sunday’s lesson from 1 Corinthians 1:18-25.

Ten of the most well known Christian preachers / teachers were interviewed and asked their opinion on the subject of same-sex-marriage and homosexuality: You can watch their answers by clicking the link at the bottom.

Note: The one’s that gave the clearest answers were those who have the highest regard for the Word of the Lord. When the Bible says something, it’s as if God has said it. It’s true my friends, the Bible IS God’s WORD on any subject. Note those that gave the weakest answers were those who had a higher regard for what people feel. Joel Osteen, for instance, was determined that he didn’t want to upset anyone. Almost as soon as he acknowledged homosexuality was a sin, he immediately tried to cover-up that fact and that he believed it. So frightened is he of upsetting his ‘Positivity’ message.

DARKNESS: Is a kind of moral blindness in the Bible.

It’s an inability to see what sin is. It’s a failure to acknowledge sin as sin.

It’s an sensual-feeling darkness. A darkness that can be felt.

I’ve had one of those nights when the LORD was speaking to me about the DARKNESS and how great is that darkness. It wouldn’t go away. It came at me again and again in the night: Benighted.

We’ve also had that feeling of Darkness too; when out sharing the Gospel of Jesus. There are some individuals, that when you speak with them about Jesus, they give off a kind of darkness that can be felt. You can feel it in your soul the moment you begin speaking with them. More often than not this happens when people declare that they’ve rejected God or turned away from Him because of their lifestyle. Read Sarah’s Story (Link at bottom of page) and you’ll see that the Darkness is real.

However: BLIND people don’t need our condemnation.

They need to be brought into the light.

They need our LOVE no matter what it is they’ve done.

They need to be saved from the darkness.

Read Sarah’s Story of Deliverance from Sam-Sex-Attraction (Link at bottom).

Nor can we boast; (By ‘we’ I mean Christians).

  • We did not save ourselves.
  • We are not saved because of our own goodness. (Rom 3:20)
  • We are ALL sinners: Because we’ve ALL fallen short of God’s goodness (Rom 3:23).
  • We are SAVED by God’s GRACE not by our own good works. (Ephesians 2:8-9).

2 Corinthians 4:2-6
2 ¬†Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
3  And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
4  The god of this age (Satan) has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
5 ¬†For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.
6 ¬†For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

If a blind man was walking towards the edge of a cliff???? Surely LOVE would compel you to shout a warning.

Blind are they that walk in darkness.

If a blind man had tripped over something, you would not blame the Blind Man would you? No! You’d blame the person who put the obstacle in the Blind Man’s pathway.

Satan has blinded:

Our battle is NOT against flesh and blood.

Isaiah 5:20¬† “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”

The Darkness that can be felt: Is for those who are perishing, those on their way to death and destruction in Hell. Love, compassion and kindness compels us to share the good news of Jesus that we may save some from the darkness.

WHO IS IN THIS DARKNESS? (Don’t be Deceived).

1 Corinthians 6:9-11¬†“Do you not know that the¬†wicked¬†will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the¬†sexually immoral¬†nor¬†idolaters¬†nor¬†adulterers¬†nor male¬†prostitutes¬†nor¬†homosexual¬†offenders,
10  nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 ¬†And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

Those in Darkness: We don’t normally think that a ‘greedy’ person is wicked or in DARKNESS do we? Let us NOT be deceived.

The human tendency is to point the finger at something that we are not; thinking that we are ‘something’ when we are not. We didn’t save ourselves, Jesus did that. We are in Christ, because of Christ. (1 Corinthians 1:30).

1 Corinthians 1:29-31¬†“so that no-one may boast before him.¬†30 ¬†It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God‚ÄĒthat is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.¬†31 ¬†Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.””

PRAY: That the LORD will, by His Holy Spirit, lead our Nations out of this great darkness. That He’ll so fill His people with a deep compassion for those that have been blinded, who are in darkness, that we will do everything we can to bring others into the light of Jesus Christ, and that by His grace and kindness He’s given to each one of us, we’ll draw others to HIM.

FEAR OF THE DARKNESS:

Before I came to know the Lord Jesus, I was afraid of the DARKNESS. I hated being in dark places. I could feel the darkness. It was horrible. Once, when I was alone in bed in a darkened room, I could feel the presence of evil. I called out to the LORD Jesus Christ and asked Him to be with me, in the darkness. Since that night, I’ve NEVER been afraid of the DARKNESS again. I was set free from the fear of the darkness by Jesus. My friends, many who are walking in the darkness are afraid, they’re frightened of the light, they don’t want to come into the light for fear; fear that they are going to be exposed / reproved (John 3:20).

John 3:20¬†“For every one that¬†doeth evil¬†hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” KJV.

John 3:19-20¬†“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.¬†20 ¬†Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.” NIV.

Finally, Jesus declared;¬†John 8:12 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””

  • Everyone can be set free to walk in the light.
  • Everyone has a Conscience (they know what they are doing is wrong).
  • The Darkness can be felt.

Walk in the Light. (1 John 1:6-8)

1 John 1:6-8¬†“If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.

7 ¬†But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8 ¬†If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”

I’m praying that I can be walking in the light of the Lord Jesus Christ today.

Set me free from the DARKNESS Lord.
Keep me free from the DARKNESS Lord.
Help me to be an instrument for good Lord, to lead others into the Light. Amen.

Teaching Them To Obey Everything.

Go teaching them obedience

Daily Spirit & Word, 518: Teaching Them To Obey Everything.

40 Days With Jesus: Day 34: Teaching Obedience.

We had our final meeting last night, when we shared 40 Days With Jesus. It was a powerful session with; Fellowship, Video, Bible, Prayer and Deliverance and Re-assurance. It’s amazing that the teaching was about the Holy Spirit and His; promise, presence and power in the believer’s life. However, it wasn’t long before we recognised that one of our group needed some deliverance. What JOY there is when captives are set free from Satan’s grip. I want to thank everyone who prayed for our group last night, we definitely needed it. Praise the Lord!

Day 34 of 40 Days With Jesus: TEACHING.

Part of Christ’s Great Commission in Matthew 28 was; Jesus Authority, Commanded to Go, Proclaim the Gospel, Make Disciples, Baptise those who come to faith and finally, today’s message; “TEACH”, but teach the new converts what?

Matthew 28:16-20 16  Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
17  When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted.
18 ¬†Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 ¬†and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

It’s not just teaching them anything, it’s not teaching them to become ‘religious’, it’s not teaching the newly converted followers of Jesus man-made-rules or regulations, but it’s “teaching them TO OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU”

NOTE: It’s critically important to point out this FACT: We are NOT SAVED by OBEDIENCE, we ARE SAVED by God’s GRACE. It’s not by how obedient we are to Jesus Commands or that would be a “Human Works Based Gospel” (Like, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Roman Catholics, Mormons, Islam or every other kind of ‘religion’). No my friends, Christians are SAVED by God’s GRACE through putting our FAITH and TRUST in the Living, Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ. We’re saved because we’ve come to see that we are SINNERS in need of being RESCUED and who need a SAVIOUR or we’ll have to face God’s RIGHTEOUSNESS on JUDGEMENT DAY. We’ve responded the the GOSPEL by BELIEVING in Jesus DEATH ON THE CROSS for the sins of all mankind and REPENTING of our own sins and trusting that Jesus died for us personally. Once a believer has done that, there’s the one final step of RECEIVING Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour by inviting and responding to the Holy Spirit’s prompting. It’s ALL BY GOD’S GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS.

However, once we are SAVED there is an inward desire to be obedient to the Lord Jesus Christ, but we do need to be TAUGHT what it is that we are to be obedient to. That’s why God has given to the Church THE GIFT MINISTRIES: APOSTLES, PROPHETS, PASTORS, EVANGELISTS and TEACHERS (Ephesians 4:11-13).

Ephesians 4:11-13 11  It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,
12 ¬†to prepare God’s people¬†(newly converted followers of Jesus) for works of service (obedience to the commands of Jesus Christ), so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 ¬†until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fulness of Christ.

God has called us to be fishers of men, but we must be very grateful that He doesn’t leave new believers floundering like a fish that’s been landed on the sandy beach by a fisherman. Everyone who comes to FAITH in the Lord Jesus Christ must be DISCIPLED, BAPTISED and TAUGHT.

The FIVE-FOLD GIFT MINISTRIES: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers.

This TEACHING of the followers of Jesus is partly fulfilled by God’s Holy Spirit, but also by God’s Word and by God’s GIFT MINISTERS: Jesus never had in mind just a one-man-show style of leadership, i.e. the model we have in most gatherings of Christians today; the LEAD PASTOR acting like a mini-Pope. or Mainstream Church, with a Minister, Priest or Pastor doing all the work of the church. That’s a complete distortion of what it means to be a Biblical Gathering of the Saints, because right from the beginning we will only find in Scripture a PLURALITY of LEADERSHIP. In God’s mind we’re to have the five-fold ministries, anointed and called and gifted by the Holy Spirit, who are activated and working in every fellowship of the saints. Notice that it doesn’t say: “Apostle, Prophet” it says “Apostles and Prophets etc… I.e. more than one of each in every fellowship. They are to train others up in their particular gifting and calling. So an Apostle is to teach others how to be an Apostle, the Prophets are to teach others how to prophesy, the Evangelists are to teach others how to reach out and proclaim the Gospel so the newly converted believers will become evangelists. ¬†The ONLY healthy churches today are the ones that have these FIVE-FOLD ministries activated by the Holy Spirit today. So, who’re the Apostles in your fellowship? Who are the Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers? Be assured, God’s Word doesn’t lie, they are there because God is giving them to us, even today: It’s the Church’s call to discern, recognise and appoint, and the Holy Spirit’s role to Anoint and to give the GIFTS.

WHAT ARE THE COMMANDS / TEACHINGS OF JESUS?

It’s simple my friends, it’s contained within the pages of the Bible: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, and all the Epsitles. It’s contained within the pages of the Old Testament too, for ALL Scripture is God Breathed. Thankfully the Apostles put down on paper the Commandments of Jesus and the Teaching of Jesus. They are all there to help us grow to maturity in our faith, so that even if we were on an island, marooned with just the Bible, we’d have enough to become completely mature as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Timothy 3:10-17 10  You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,
11 ¬†persecutions, sufferings‚ÄĒwhat kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.
12  In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
13  while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14  But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,
15  and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
17  so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

My friends, you’ve got it in your fellowship in the FIVE-FOLD Ministers, the WORD of God, the fellowship of the SAINTS (your brothers and sisters in Christ) and last, but by no means least, The INDWELLING PROMISED PRESENCE AND POWER of The Holy Spirit. All of these things will help you to know HOW to live righteously for Jesus Christ. How to OBEY His Commands. We’re not saved by being obedient, but the TEACHINGS OF JESUS will enable us to; AVOID: LEGALISM AND LICENCE, that’s why Christ set us free from the LAW and gave us the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit, He’ll guide us into all truth, enable us to live righteously before God and help is to avoid; ‘rules, regulation and ¬†ritualistic religion. Live by the Spirit and you’ll be able to put to death the deeds of the flesh and you’ll experience complete FREEDOM in Christ. That freedom will enable you and change your desires so that you’ll want to be OBEDIENT to the Lord Jesus teachings and commands.

Jesus said, “IF you love Me, you WILL obey my Commandments”.

FREEDOM IN CHRIST: means living in the power of the Holy Spirit who’ll set us free from: RULES, REGULATION and RITUALISTIC RELIGION. He’ll enable us to love Jesus and live in obedience to His commands.

GOD HATES RELIGION: BUT HE LOVES OBEDIENCE.

As an example of OBEDIENCE over RELIGION: Consider the life of King Saul, who lost the Kingdom because of DISOBEDIENCE. He thought he could appease an angry God with RELIGIOUS DEVOTION, but God wanted a man who’s heart was ready to be obedient, so He chose King David.

1 Samuel 15:22-23¬†22¬†¬†But Samuel replied: “Does the¬†LORD¬†delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the¬†LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
23¬†¬†For rebellion is like the sin of divination (Witchcraft), and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the¬†LORD, he has rejected you as king.”

That’s why TEACHING was so important to Jesus in the GREAT COMMISSION of the first Apostles, and why learning to be OBEDIENT to Christ’s commands and teachings is so critical for our walk in the Spirit today. Thanks be to God for giving us all that we need to keep going.

Have an awesome day with the Lord Jesus, praise Him now with singing, pray and seek His direction and fullness of the Holy Spirit. It’s my hope and prayer that you are getting it my friends; Jesus wants you to be involved in His GREAT Commission, to Go, Disciple, Baptise, Teach Obedience and be aware that He’s with you in everything you are doing for the Kingdom. Awesome!
