God Knows Me Intimately

God's Knowledge of Us

Daily Spirit & Word: 761: God Knows Me

How Does God Know Us?

Psalm 139: Study 1. He Knows You Intimately.

WOWzer! Did anyone hear that THUNDER last night? I’ve not seen rain like this in years.

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE the thunder and lightning. It’s like God speaking to us in a very loud voice, but what is He saying?

Yesterday morning we had an awesome prayer gathering, during which we sang “What a mighty God we serve” I’m not kidding, HEAVEN came into our gathering. There was only a few of us, but WOWzer!

Today, I’m going to begin a short series looking at Psalm 139. It’s such a wonderful, amazing and enlightening Psalm, full of insight about how God knows us, the plans He has for us and His control of our situations, leading us to KNOW we can fully trust HIM.

Why Psalm 139?

We all make decisions every day, (Not just EU Referendum Day), but how we make them, that’s what counts. Because what we think about God and our relationship with Him determines what we think about everything else that makes up our busy little world. When we get God’s perspective right, then other people, the universe, God’s Word, God’s will, sin, faith, and obedience and our choices will lead us in the right direction. On the other hand, wrong ideas about God will ultimately lead to wrong ideas about who we are, where we should go and what we should do, and this leads us down a crooked path toward the wrong destiny. In other words, the right knowledge of God is essential to the abundant and fulfilled life the LORD wants you to have in this world, and getting you ready for life forever with Him.

King David gave us Psalm 139, his life was full of a deep knowledge and understanding of HOW the LORD directed his steps.

Psalm 139:1-6 (NIV) [For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.]
1  O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.
2  You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3  You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
4  Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.
5  You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.
6  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

God Knows Us Intimately (vv. 1-6)

The verb “searched” means “to examine with great pain and care.” The Jewish people used this word to describe digging deep into a mine, exploring a land, and investigating a legal case.

Your friends only see the outside, but the LORD God sees your heart, and you can’t deceive Him.

Some folks in the Bible tried to deceive God:

  • Adam and Eve tried it (Gen. 3:7-24),
  • Cain tried it (Gen. 4:1-15),
  • and even David tried it (2 Sam. 11-12),
  • Ananias and Sappheria tried it too (Acts 5:1-11).

What do we discover from them? What they all discovered, that God knew all about them. He knew what they’d done and even how they’d tried to cover it up. We cannot HIDE from God. He searches and sees the HEART. King David knew this from bitter experience and Divine Grace and forgiveness.

Understand” in verse 2 means “to distinguish and discern with insight”. My friends, God’s not just making notes about your life, He’s not keeping a dossier if you confess your sins and get cleaned up, but be assured of this, if you don’t get right with God, then He is going to bring out all the records of your life.

Verse 3: “You are familiar with all my ways” He knows our ways, where we go, when we go, how we go and why we go. The habits, the little things that can either help or hinder our walk with Him.  The fact that God knows us so intimately and completely is revealed in verses 1, 2, 4, 14, and 23.

These verses reveal God’s DEEP KNOWLEDGE about EVERYTHING in our lives:

  • He knows our actions,
  • He knows our locations,
  • He knows our thoughts and words,
  • He knows our ways, and our motives.

He knows more about you than your Mobile Phone does. You know they are able to keep track of where you’ve been down to  the inch, but God’s knowledge is even more, He not only knows where you’ve been, but what you’ve been thinking when you are there.

The Eyes of the LORD (2 Chronicles 16:9).

“All things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Heb. 4:13, nkjv).

But even more, He knows what is best for us and does all He can to guide us to go His way.

Psalm 139:5  “You hem me in: behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.”

He hems us in behind and before and puts His hand on us to give us peace, to show us His way and to direct our steps.

That’s an awesome thought, God wants us to allow Him to show us the way.

The word translated “beset” (kjv) or “enclosed” (nasb) means “to guard a valuable object,”

God’s Guarding YOU!

So my friends, God’s all knowing, all encompassing knowledge and guidance are for your protection.

How should we respond to that?

Like King David, we should TRUST Him completely with every aspect of our lives.

In the UK: We’re all going to VOTE today on the EU Referendum, no matter how you feel or how you VOTE, God is in ultimate control.

Don’t WORRY… PRAY (first) … TRUST… VOTE: Let the LORD guide you to the right decision today.

Be blessed today,

Don.

P.S. The other day Karamoko my grandson came back into the lounge from the garden to get a spade. He was hiding his hand behind his back. Karamoko is only 2 1/2 years old, but is already showing signs of being deceitful. I said, “What have you been doing in the garden?” He said, “Nothing” hiding his hand even more… It was so funny and a dead give-away. His hands were black from playing in the mud, he knew that he shouldn’t be playing in the mud because he’s been told not to touch it a few times. But Karamoko just loves digging in the dirt…

We cannot HIDE from God.

Prayer Week: Day 1. Read Your SPIRITUAL Bank Statement

Daily Spirit & Word: 737: Pentecostal Prayer Week: Day 1.

Read Your Spiritual Bank Statement.

There are bounteous riches in store for you today.

Pentecostal Prayer Week: Day 1: Read Your Spiritual Bank Statement.

What a joy it is to PRAY in the Spirit, to the Father, through the Son.

Good morning my friends, today I’m going to show that we can come to our FATHER GOD and expect greater things from ourselves. There’s HIDDEN potential and power in you, because of who you are already as a follower of Jesus.

There was once a very wealthy Billionaire.

He was a Newspaper Publisher, William Randolph Hearst, who invested a fortune collecting art treasures from around the world. One day Mr. Hearst found a description of some valuable items that he felt he must own. He made a list and then sent his agent abroad to find them. After months of searching, the agent returned to Mr Hearst and reported that he had finally found the treasures. Mr Hearst was overjoyed. Then immediately shocked, because every single item was already in Mr. Hearst’s own warehouse. Hearst had been searching frantically for treasures he already owned! Had he read his own catalogue of his treasures, he would have saved himself a great deal of money and trouble.

Sometimes we’re a bit like Mr Hearst: We’re not completely aware of the TREASURES that are already ours, we’ve inherited them from our Heavenly Father God. They are already available to us, ready to be tapped into in faith.

To understand, all we need to do is Read Your Spiritual Bank Statements: then you’ll see what’s been deposited into your account.  I know some people who don’t know or understand these things, they’re like secrets to them. However it is possible that there are hidden treasures in your life, but because you’ve not fully understood what has already been deposited within you, you are not accessing them yet. All is about to change. Praise the LORD!

Like Paul’s commendation of the Saints in Ephesus, my church fellowship in St Luke’s are; full of love for God, full of faith and trust in Him, and full of love for the saints and sinners in our area. That’s so obvious whenever we gather together in Christ on Sunday’s, how we welcome strangers too, but there’s so much more that we’re NOT tapping into yet. Listen with your Spiritual Ears open as you read aloud these words again from Paul’s letter to the Ephesian Christians, I’m praying the LORD will give you eyes to see new delights are awaiting you in prayer.

Ephesians 1:15-23 (NIV)
15  For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
16  I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
17  I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
18  I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19  and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength,
20  which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
21  far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
22  And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,
23  which is his body, the fulness of him who fills everything in every way.

First, Paul is giving thanks to the LORD for their obvious faith and love: Having a sincere love for God is a miraculous wonder and we should always give thanks and praise when we see or observe that these are evident in the lives of brothers and sisters the Lord has given us. Paul was obviously overjoyed to discover their faith was still alive and kicking in his absence. However, he didn’t STOP at giving thanks for them, he prayed they’d have even MORE: Or become even more AWARE of the great treasures in store, that have already been deposited in their Spiritual Bank Account: Their Inheritance… It something they can use and invest NOW in building God’s Kingdom.

BUT: and it’s a significant BUT 🙂 He keeps asking for MORE… Yes my friends, there’s a great deal MORE in your Spiritual Bank Account than you are probably aware of.

Ephesians 1:17.

  • – The Spirit of Wisdom.
  • – The Spirit of Revelation.

Both of these are so that we can KNOW GOD BETTER.

Too many of us think we know enough about God, but there’s always more to discover, we’ll never know everything about Father God until we meet Him face to face, then we’ll know Him fully, but in the meantime we’re limited to what He chooses to reveal to us; through His word, through the Spirit and through our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of how Paul knew the LORD, he wants EVERY believer in Jesus to KNOW what’s already available in their account, i.e. what IS available to them. That’s what Paul keeps asking, that they’ll KNOW just how much is available in their walk with Jesus. How we all NEED a much deeper knowledge of God our Heavenly Father.

Then there’s the ENLIGHTENMENT: Our text tells us what the ‘ENLIGHTENMENT’ is for, so that you may KNOW;

– KNOW THE HOPE to which He has called you.

– KNOW THE RICHES OF HIS GLORIOUS INHERITANCE in the saints.

– KNOW HIS INCOMPARABLY GREAT POWER.

Enlightenment: Is what happens to a person who once lived in darkness and is brought out into the light. Like a person who spends all their time in a dark cave, they are blinded by the bright light of the sun and have to hide their eyes. So when we come to Christ we are brought from DARKNESS into the LIGHT. We see things very differently now that we know Jesus: This great HOPE to which He has called you. When you gave into Jesus and trusted Him for Salvation, you were just responding to His call. Then He filled your heart with the HOPE of Heaven. Fear has gone from your life now that you are in Jesus. Praise the LORD!

When we KNOW the HOPE: Then the way we LIVE is going to be different. We’re NOT going to be afraid in difficult situations. Hope shines in our hearts.

It’s not enough just to have a great faith and trust in Jesus or to be full of a love for the saints, because there’s so much MORE in your own spiritual inheritance. It’s already available to you. Be daring today, tap into these hidden resources at your disposal and bring Glory to your Heavenly Father. Amen!

Check The HIDDEN TREASURE: in your heart.

So my friends, Check out your Spiritual Bank Account: Have a look at it in great detail today: KNOW the Spirit of Wisdom, the Spirit of Revelation, the HOPE, the RICHES and the GREAT POWER. When we begin to tap into these Spiritual resources, God is going to be even more glorified by the way we live our lives for Him.

We’ll be more like Jesus and as we’re praying for the Evangelisation of the Nation: Many more people will see for themselves, the evidence of a transformed life. In Jesus you are being made NEW every day.

PRAY: That Christians all over the world, every Christian you know, will move onto and into an even greater understanding and knowledge of ALL that they have inherited when they trusted in Jesus Christ.

Be blessed today, overflowing with Holy Spirit, let His LOVE leak out to everyone around you. Share your HOPE in Jesus with a few people today.

Don.

Remember: I’m Praying for you too: But please PRAY for me.

I’m praying for you;

1) That the LORD will give you a wake-up-call. Every day! And you’ll want to respond.

2) That you’ll experience NOURISHMENT when you get up, read your Bible, Pray and Praise the LORD (every day).

3) That you’ll DESIRE to have times of fellowship with other brothers and sisters. Spending time together in Jesus company.

4) That you’ll GET PERSONAL REVELATION when you pray and read God’s Word.

5) That you’ll SHARE your experiences with at least FIVE other people during the week.

6) That you’ll EXPERIENCE soul satisfaction and encouragement in your life every day with Jesus.

7) That you’ll get the JOY of the LORD: He’ll put an NEW SONG in your heart. (Psalm 40:3)

8) That you’ll begin to SHINE like Moses because you’ve been in the presence of Jesus. Your GLORY GLOW.

9) That you’ll ENJOY seeking His FACE rather than His Hand. It’s so tempting to ask God just to do stuff for us, but what about seeking His FACE and His Glory, so that we can SERVE Him better instead.

10) That you’ll be able to WORSHIP in song and ENJOY extended periods of reflection throughout your days during prayer week.

– Pray for our Baptism Candidates: Pray that the LORD will prepare their hearts to be His people, the sheep of His pasture.

– Pray for Discipleship / Evangelism / Personal Growth of Followers of Jesus.

– Pray for Evangelisation of our Nation: That there would be a NATIONAL Revival. Holy Spirit come in POWER on our land.

– Pray for the Renewal and Fire of Holy Spirit for ALL Christians.

Jesus Christ Is Alive Today

Why are you looking for the living among the dead, He is not here, He is risen

Daily Spirit & Word: 712: Happy Resurrection Sunday

The Angel said to the Crowd of Ladies who went to the Tomb of Jesus, “Why do you look for the living among the dead, He is not here; He has risen”

I love that song / hymn of praise “Jesus Christ is alive today, I know, I know it’s true” But how can we KNOW for sure? You need to meet the Risen Saviour.

On this Resurrection Sunday, I want to say, “Happy Easter: i.e. I want all of you to have an enjoyable holiday time with friends, family, children with Easter Eggs and a lovely Easter Sunday Dinner etc, but I’m looking for another word, other than Easter, because it’s not Easter we Christians are celebrating, but the Resurrected LIFE of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. So I’m going to say, “Happy Resurrection Sunday” instead.

Let’s share that with Each other NOW: Say to your friends and family members, “Happy Resurrection Sunday”… Let the world KNOW we’re really celebrating the fact the Jesus Christ has risen from the dead.

GREETING ON Resurrection Sunday:

The Traditional Greeting on Resurrection Sunday is: “Christ is Risen”, and the crowds respond with, “He has Risen indeed, Alleluia”.

THE GOSPEL MESSAGE

1 Corinthians 15:1-8 (NIV)
1
Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
2  By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3  For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4  that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
5  and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.
6  After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
7  Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
8  and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

He is not here, he has risen
Why are you looking for the living among the dead?

1) Getting Ready For Resurrection Sunday:

Before we came to church today, we washed our faces (I hope 🙂 ). We did this to get ready to meet and greet one another. We did it to come before Jesus in worship. However, the Lord Jesus wants us to get ready in another way, to get ready for Resurrection Sunday.

Luke 23:50-56, 24:1-12 (NIV) Women Get Spices and Perfume Ready.
50 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man,
51  who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God.
52  Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body.
53  Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no-one had yet been laid.
54  It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.
55  The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.
56  Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.

Those women didn’t know that Jesus was alive, they thought they were going to anoint a dead body with spices and perfumes, but what a shock and wonderful surprise they were about to get.

We too can get ourselves ready for Resurrection Sunday: By coming to Jesus and being forgiven and purified from all our sins.

Jesus died upon that Cross so that we can be forgiven: Let’s make sure we’re smelling good for Jesus today. Confess any known sin in your life right now. Take time to do this: Perfumed and Perfect in Christ: Forgiven and Cleansed from all sin. His blood purifies us from ALL SIN.

2) Getting Revelation On Resurrection Sunday: Bible Reading.

Easter Eggs: Shape of a Stone: The Stone The Angels Rolled Away.

Luke 24:1-12 (NIV) Revelation For Resurrection Sunday.
1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.
2  They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3  but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4  While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.
5  In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6  He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7  ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ “
8  Then they remembered his words.
9  When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.
10  It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles.
11  But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.
12  Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

Did you get your revelation today? I got mine, because I didn’t realise that there were so many women at the tomb that day. I’ve been reading these same passages for over 30 years now, I’ve never noticed it was more than THREE… There was a crowd of ladies, we don’t know how many, but more than three.

I got another revelation: In every encounter with the Resurrected Christ there’s: Revelation (He’s not dead or they meet him, the see him, they can touch him, he eats with them. Then Jesus or the Angels instruct those to whom revelation is given. Then they are commissioned: Go and Tell… WOWzer! That’s the same for you and me.

3) Getting Your Commission On Resurrection Sunday. (GO).

In a few moments I’m going to say “Go” You’ll go and find some Easter Eggs hidden in the Church… But I want to say a bit more about How The Lord Commissioned Us: But I want you to see: That at each encounter with Jesus Resurrection: There’s Revelation, Physical Proof, Explanation / Instruction from the Scriptures and Commission.

After the Road To Emmaus: Luke 24:13-35. Jesus shows up again.

Luke 24:36-49 (NIV) Jesus Appeared, Showed hands and feet, ate, explained the Scriptures, commissioned and blessed.
36  While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
37  They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.
38  He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?
39  Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
40  When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
41  And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
42  They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43  and he took it and ate it in their presence.
44  He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” (The History, Writings and Poetry of Scripture Reveal Christ).
45  Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
46  He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,
47  and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48  You are witnesses of these things. 49  I am going to send you what my Father has promised (The Holy Spirit); but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

What JOY!
What Amazement!

Imagine seeing your beloved Messiah again after He died upon the Cross: Alive? After the beating, the betrayal, the brutality; ALIVE…

NOTICE: At each of the Resurrection Appearances in Luke’s Gospel: there is first Revelation, then Explanation, then Commission.

My friends, when you Come to Faith in Jesus: i.e. You know Him, that He is ALIVE.

Then you get to know more about Him from the Bible, the Scriptures.

Then you get to Go for Him, to tell the world: Beginning in your family, neighbourhood, area, country, world.

Go and be His Witnesses: Tell about the Resurrected Lord, The Crucified Lord, The Ascended Lord, The Power of the Lord through His Holy Spirit. You go and you tell… For when you tell FAITH COMES to those who’s hearts have been prepared by the Holy Spirit. (Rom 10:17)

My friends, we who believe in The Resurrected Living Lord Jesus Christ have been truly blessed; we have received;

  • Revelation: We KNOW Jesus is Alive. We can say, “He’s my Lord”.
  • Explanation: Instruction in the Scriptures / Bible about Jesus and God’s Word / Commands. (Discipleship).
  • Empowerment: New Birth from the Holy Spirit and New Life and New Power (Gifts and presence of Holy Spirit).
  • Commission: Go and tell… Go with Jesus (He’s with you when you go in His Name)… Be obedient Go and Tell… When was the last time you share the Gospel with someone about Jesus?
  • Excitement: When you know the Resurrected Jesus, through faith, belief, repentance and having received Him as your Lord. You’ll experience the Excitement of The Abundant Life (More than happiness, peace and joy)… John 10:10. Philemon 1:6. You’ll get a DEEPER Knowledge of all these good things we have in Christ, through sharing our faith in Him.

Imagine: Charging up your Mobile Phone every day. And never turning it on to talk with someone.

That’s what it’s like if you are a Christian who’s constantly getting filled with the Holy Spirit and NEVER USING your anointing to do anything good with it. When you know the Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ and have been discipled for a while, then He’s commission you too, to go and use your Holy Spirit gifts for His Kingdom Service. GO!

Worship is great, but you’ll get much more, much more, much more REVELATION and ANOINTING if you use the GIFTS He’s already given to you. Share Jesus with everyone, be generous with your anointing, be gracious with your anointing. The world needs to know the Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ.

You know the Resurrected LORD? Good, now go and tell someone about Him. Share Jesus… Have an AWESOME Resurrection Sunday.

Pease and Joy in Jesus.

Don.

1 Corinthians 15:55 (NIV)

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

The Joy Of Sharing The Good News

Be active in sharing your faith

Daily Spirit & Word: 693: The JOY of Sharing Good News.

What happens when a young woman comes out to learn how to share the Gospel?

“BE ACTIVE IN SHARING YOUR FAITH”

Good morning my friends, it’s been such an amazing experience over the last few days, being a Grandfather to NINE and there’s still another one on the way as Laura (Joe’s wife) is pregnant with her No 4 as well. What’s also been wonderful is how many people “like” baby pictures and especially new babies.  My Facebook pages has been going loopy 🙂 Praise the Lord for that obvious joy.

However, when someone becomes a Brand Newborn Babe in Christ, do we LIKE it just as much? We should be even more OVERJOYED, because that baby won’t just last for a few years here on Earth, but for all eternity in God’s Kingdom Family. A Christian is destined to LIVE forever, now that should make all of us stand up and shout for JOY to the Lord. Also, do you get EXCITED at the prospect of sharing your faith in Jesus with other folks? You should, because when you do God’s promises are mindblowingly awesome!  😛

STREET EVANGELISM:

Last night a small group of us, five in all, went out on a freezing cold February night to share the Good News of Jesus with folks on the streets of West Norwood in London.

I was teamed up with Gemma, a West African woman who’s just finished University. She’d come to me on Sunday at the end of worship and said, “When you were preaching about going and sharing the Good News, and you said “Sharing is Caring” I was on fire, I have so wanted to learn how to share the Gospel with my friends and colleagues”… I said, “Gemma, why don’t you come out with us on Wednesday and learn how to do it like Jesus did?”… She said she’d been frustrated in her attempts at winning folks for Jesus in the past, but wanted to learn. Well, last night Gemma turned up and came out with me. It was not long before Gemma was giving out tracts (£1,000,000 pound notes), sharing how own faith in Jesus and even praying for people on the streets.

But Gemma didn’t come to learn to give out tracts, but to engage people with the Good News of Jesus, it was not long before she experienced that, because two minutes out on our walk we met a man called Aaron. Aaron’s father was a Preacher and Leader in his church, his father had run Alpha Courses and Aaron had attended St Luke’s Primary School, a “Christian” school. However, it was soon obvious that Aaron had not come to fully understand the Gospel. I checked to see what Aaron actually believed, but it was the way that we got chatting that Gemma later said she loved. I said to Aaron, “You look like a good man, did you get your £1,000,000?” He responded with, “Why do you call me good?”   Immediately, I remembered Jesus asking a man that very question, “Why do you call me good, there’s none good but God alone”… (That account is recorded in two of our Gospels: Mark 10:17-27 and Matthew 19 16-22. See below)

Aaron had a wonderful privileged upbringing, but he’d rejected the Christian faith and it’s claims, because he had not EXPERIENCED anything and didn’t know if God was real. He had also reached the conclusion that he never could discover God. I don’t know about you, but when I hear a young man, an honest young man, express his doubts so openly like that, it makes me very sad and a bit angry too. Why don’t we preach the Gospel more clearly in our churches? Why are we so busy in church being religious, having fun, being culturally relevant when there are sincere young men like Aaron headed for hell?

What also became obvious to me was, that the LORD was not finished with Aaron yet. Just a few days before he bumped into Gemma and I, he’d had a similar meeting with another Evangelist from our Church. How many times have you had someone come up to you and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with you? I can count them on one hand, but Aaron had two people come and share about Jesus with him.

After reasoning with Aaron for a while about life after death, God’s reality, etc… I asked Gemma to share her own experience of how she knew that God was real, alive and knowable. As she was telling Aaron, I was watching him, and I knew what his response would be even before he opened up his mouth, “That’s nice for you, but I’ve not had that experience yet”… “I’m happy for you both, because you seem to have found God, but He’s not real to me”… It really is so sad when someone so young believes so strongly that God cannot be known.

Matthew 19:16-25 (NIV) The Rich Young Ruler.
16 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
17  “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.”
18  “Which ones?” the man enquired. Jesus replied, ” ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,
19  honour your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbour as yourself.’ ”
20  “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”
21  Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
22  When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23  Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
24  Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25  When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”

Notes: The Disciples had come to realise that EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE SAVED verse 25. How did they arrive at that conclusion? They’d witnessed Jesus, time and time again brining up the LAW of God, the Ten Commandments, with folks as He chatted with them. They NEW that nobody had kept the whole LAW and were ready to be judged by God, that is why they said to Jesus, “Who then can be saved?”… Jesus answer was, “with man it is IMPOSSIBLE” i.e. no one, none, can SAVE themselves, because we’ve all become guilty of breaking God’s Commandments, (Romans 3:23) but with God all things are possible, i.e. God alone can SAVE mankind, as explained in that section of God’s letter to the young Roman Church:

Romans 3:21-28 (NIV) We’re Justified by FAITH through God’s GRACE: Not by living according to God’s LAW revealed in His Commandments.
21  But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22  This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,
23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24  and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
25  God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished
26  —he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
27  Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith.
28  For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.
However, those Commandments reveal our NEED of Salvation, as Jesus’ Disciples discovered above.

Mark’s Account of the Rich Young Ruller:

Mark 10:17-27 (NIV)
17  As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
18  “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No-one is good—except God alone.
19  You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honour your father and mother.’ “
20  “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
21  Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
22  At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23  Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”
24  The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!
25  It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
26  The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”
27  Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

NOTES: Notice first, Jesus corrected the man’s understanding of ‘GOOD’, there’s none good, but God alone.
Notice second, Jesus revealed God’s Standard of Goodness and the entry requirement for the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of Heaven: Perfection. Unless a man or woman is perfect, i.e. they’ve kept God’s LAW revealed in His Commandments perfectly all their life, they cannot enter into His Kingdom. The Rich Young Ruler thought he’d kept the Commandments, but it was obvious he was not listening to Jesus, “There’s NONE GOOD but God alone”… i.e. If we take an honest look at God’s Commandments, we’ll conclude that we’ve broken most of them in our lifetime and are guilty Law Breakers in God’s sight.
Well, I’d love to share with you that Aaron was won over by our discussions, but at least he thanked us for stopping to chat with him. I asked if he had a Bible at home. He said, “My dad’s got at least four Bibles open on his desk every day”. I said, why don’t you go home, ask your dad for one of them and read it. Say to God, “I don’t know if you are real, but I’m ready to discover if You are, please speak to me through Your Word”… I do hope we bump into Aaron again. Please pray for this honest young man Aaron, who wanted to discover “Why do you call me good?”.

First Night Of Evangelism:

Gemma’s first night was a brilliant lesson in sharing the Good News of Jesus with folks the way that Jesus did. It was also an eye-opening experience of listening to the Lord as you go, because we also prayed for folks and chatted about God’s Kingdom, Heaven, Hell, Faith, Hope, Healing… We received “Words of Knowledge” you should see people’s faces when you speak God’s Word and their own situation in life lines up with what God is saying to them.  The rest of the team came back and shared their experiences too. My friends, can I encourage you, if you don’t do it already, to keep sharing your faith in Jesus and lead others to the Saviour, because as Jesus own disciples discovered, everybody NEEDS to be SAVED, without Jesus they will die in their sins and end up in Hell, because God has declared He will give them His justice on the day of Judgement.

Here’s the TRUTH:

Here is WHO will NOT Enter God’s Kingdom: Anyone who’s broken God’s Commandments. We ALL NEED SALVATION.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NIV)
9  Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10  nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11  And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Every single person needs to be: Washed, Sanctified and Justified through faith in Jesus Christ.

Also, like Gemma, Sherrie, Ben, Matthew and me last night, you’ll discover Kingdom Knowledge and you’ll experience more of what God’s got in store for you. Note below, the importance of not only loving the Saints as Philemon obviously did, but what will happen to him if he listens to Paul’s instruction when he shares his faith in Jesus.

Philemon 1:4-7 (NIV)
4  I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers,
5  because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints.
6  I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.
7  Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.

It’s obvious we should love the saints, our brothers and sisters in Christ, but it’s not so obvious the NEED for Christians to be actively sharing our faith in Jesus or the reasons why. When you share Jesus, your own understanding of all the good things you have in Jesus will grow, the more you share, the more you’re going to understand. How awesome is that? Philemon also highlights one of the major problems in our modern churches today, we’re really good at LOVING THE SAINTS but forgetting the importance of being active in sharing our faith. There’s so much good going on we’re missing the point of Jesus Commission and Call. It’s not to have a great time being ‘church’, but to win others for His Kingdom before He comes back again. We’re also great a doing ‘good’ in the community, hoping that people will be so impressed with our ‘goodness’ that they’ll want to discover more about Jesus. It doens’t work my friends, the church is getting exhausted serving the world, but the world is heading straight for hell, because we’re too busy doing ‘good’ to share the Good News of Jesus with them.

It is much harder to be ACTIVELY SHARING YOUR FAITH in Jesus with folks, than it is to be LOVING, gentle and kind. Yes we should be doing good and being loving, kind, generous, helpful and faithful, but it’s going to have far greater dividends in Eternity when you take steps of courage and determine in your heart that you are going to make the most of every opportunity to go out of your way to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, that’s what really counts for Jesus’ Kingdom and Eternity.

I could also write about the many other conversations we had last night; the second person we chatted with was also called Aaron, then a young woman who attended church all her life, but hadn’t received Jesus as Lord. A woman who used to come to church, who needed prayer. It’s just too much to write them all or share them all now… Praise the LORD! Pray for the people and don’t forget to BE ACTIVE IN SHARING YOUR FAITH.

Have a fantastic Thursday.

Don.

FAITH is simply taking the first step

Knowing Jesus we need to take the first steps of faith

Daily Spirit & Word: 639:

The Friends V The Professionals.

It’s Possible Through Simple Trusting: To KNOW Jesus Christ Personally.

Good morning my friends, On Sunday at our Thanksgiving Service for the Blessing, Naming and Dedication of four lovely children (asked for instead of baptism), I was preaching on Mark 2 About The Calling of Levi the Tax Collector.

The previous week I’d been preaching about that wonderful account of the Miracle and the Authority of Jesus. In Mark Chapter 2 we find different groups of people; The crowds blocking the way to Jesus, the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees and the group of faithful friends who carried the crippled man and lowered him through the roof to Jesus.

In the Calling of Matthew we find; Sinners, Tax Collectors and the same group of Teachers of the Law and Pharisees.

I’ve been thinking a bit more about that and praying about how people can be so close to God’s REVELATION and yet be so far away from it.

Those TEACHERS OF THE LAW: THE SCRIBES – You know my friends, those scribes were highly educated men.

History: After the Israelites returned to the Promised Land from their exile and Babylonian captivity, it was the Scribes who were the leaders of the Jewish Nation. The Prophet Ezra was also a Scribe. Their task was to teach, preserve and copy the Scriptures. They were also professional interpreters of the Mosaic Law and administered both its religious and its civil codes. The scribes determined how the details of the law of Moses should be applied to everyday life.

In time, they became the custodians of the so-called “oral law,” which, by Jesus’ time, was already replacing the written law as the rule of life. The Scribes and Pharisees had added many man-made traditions to God’s Law. The scribes were regarded as the authorities on historical and doctrinal matters. They were the nation’s teachers, each scribe having a number of disciples around him. Their power increased after Malachi closed the Old Testament canon and prophecy ceased. The Sanhedrin had a number of them among its membership. They were bitter enemies of Jesus Christ, often you’ll see them portrayed in the Bible as sitting in judgment of Him and finding fault with almost everything He did and said. They were often trying to trick Jesus and trip Him up in His own words. However, they didn’t realise with all their knowledge that they were dealing with God on Earth.

How could people who were as educated as those Scribes, Teachers of God’s Holy Law, be so close to God’s revelations and yet be so far away from understanding who Jesus was, what He’d come to do and why He came to do it? Because almost everything Jesus did and said was prophesied about in God’s Word that they were so ‘expert’ in. Jesus birth and life were all written about by the Prophets of old, they should have known that He was their expected Messiah, Emmanuel (God with us).

Not only should they have known who Jesus was, but they should have welcomed Him, especially after the miracles proved that Jesus had the authority to forgive sins, because only God could do both; forgive sins and heal with just a word. It was so obvious, so how could they miss it?

Perhaps it’s easy for us, because we’ve been giving so much more in the revelation of who Jesus is in the New Testament, but my friends, I’ve known modern EXPERTS who know the Bible much better than I do, who don’t KNOW Jesus personally. They know all about Him, they teach all about Him, they write books all about Him, but they don’t know Him. It becomes obvious when you read what they write and listen to what they say about Him.

It was not the Religious Teachers of the Law, the educated elite, who were commended by Jesus, but it was the common folk, friends of the crippled man, who’d carried him to Jesus and lowered Him to Jesus feet who were commended for their great faith. It wasn’t the Pharisees and Teachers commended by Jesus, but the Tax Collectors and Sinners with whom He sat down to eat dinner with.

It’s strange that knowing lots of things can keep a person away from the Lord. Please don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with study or gaining great knowledge. I love it myself: I love reading about the latest inventions, the innovations in electronics (my first career was an Engineer). There’s nothing more exciting than discovering, examining, looking into, researching, fact-finding, questing for knowledge and understanding; but as far as KNOWING GOD, we may study, but it will come to a point when we must realise that KNOWING HIM is very different from KNOWING all about Him.

To get that kind of knowledge about the LORD, to KNOW Jesus personally, will take DIVINE revelation. He will reveal Himself to you my friends, not because of your in-depth study, but because of your FAITH and TRUST in Him. He’ll show Himself to you. WOWzer!

John 5:39-40 “You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, 40  yet you refuse to come to me to have life.”

1 Corinthians 2:1-5
1  When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
2  For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
3  I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling.
4  My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,
5  so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.

1 Corinthians 3:18-20
18  Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a “fool” so that he may become wise.
19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”;
20  and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”

So my friends, study all you like, but it’s going to take DIVINE REVELATION to actually KNOW Jesus Christ.

It’s foolishness to the ‘world’ (Worldly Wisdom). It always will be 🙂

But it’s NOT intellectual suicide, it takes something else: Faith and Trust.

How do we get that DIVINE REVELATION?

It’s obvious, we all need to come to Jesus. Oh I wish I could be like one of those four friends and carry you to the Saviour.

For people today, to get Divine Revelation of Jesus it is simply by doing what Jesus told the Pharisees and Teachers of the Law to do in Mark Chapter 2: but they didn’t have ears to hear or eyes to see. To get DIVINE, INWARD REVELATION and KNOW Jesus, we must; REPENT OF OUR SINS.

Mark 2:16-17 (NKJV)
16  And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”
17  When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

If they’d been open and honest with themselves, they’d have seen that they too were actually sinners as well.

Faith is simply taking the first step, even though you can’t see the whole staircase.

WE MUST ALSO BELIEVE IN JESUS.

  • Who Jesus was: The Son of God.
  • What Jesus came to do: Die upon the Cross for our sins and the sins of the whole world.
  • What Jesus did: Died and rose again from the dead to life. He also ascended into Heaven and is alive now, reigning in Heaven with His Father.
  • What Jesus does now: He sends the Holy Spirit into everyone who trusts in His Death upon the Cross for forgiveness and turns in repentance and faith to receive Him as Lord.

Once we do that, the Holy Spirit will come and give us New Birth (we’ll be born again).

Those TEACHERS of God’s Law and the Pharisees who knew the Scriptures so well, didn’t get it. So my friends, I’ve got a question for you today, think very seriously before answering. To KNOW Jesus is too important to miss, because your ETERNAL destiny depends upon HOW you answer these questions now:

  • Have you repented? (Matthew 21:32; Luke 24:46-48; Isaiah 30:15; Luke 13:3,5; Acts 17:39)
  • Have you believed in Jesus? (John 3:15-20)
  • Have you received Him as Lord? (John 1:12-13).
  • Have you trusted that He died upon the Cross for your sins? (1 Peter 2:24)
  • Have you been born of the Holy Spirit? (John 3)
  • Have you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord? (Acts 2:38-39; Romans 10:8-17)
  • Have you confessed with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord? (witnessed to others about Jesus).

Check yourself to see if you are IN Christ Jesus and He is IN you (John 14, 15, 17, Chapters).

Check yourself to see if you are IN the FAITH of Jesus Christ: (2 Corinthians 13:5).

My friends, don’t be like those Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees, who knew all about God’s Word, but remained far away from trusting in Jesus Christ, He was their own Messiah, Emmanuel (God with us). You can know Jesus personally today.

Believe, Repent, Receive, Trust, Be Born of God’s Spirit. Amen!

Faith is simply, taking the first step, even though you can’t see the whole staircase.

Antiques Appreciate With Age

Heirlooms depreciate in value, because they are viewed differently

Daily Spirit & Word 565: Antiques Appreciate With Age.

It was one of those nights again, I had another dream that I believe was from the LORD. I don’t know who it’s for though, so I’m just sharing it generally for all to enjoy.

In the dream, I was upstairs in an old dusty attic loft, with wooden balustrades and open slatted bannisters. There was a very good looking woman (I know who she is), who was acting like a Princess (in her own eyes), but everybody else thought she was a grown-up-spoilt-brat of a woman. Over the years she’d used her good looks to get what she wanted in life; the best boy in school, the best and biggest circle of friends were attracted to her, because she was bright, intelligent and politically lethal. Of course she had money and she was daddy’s little girl, even though she was a grown-woman and married.

As I gazed upon the scene she was in the full-throws of an argument with her handsome husband, she wasn’t going to get her own way for the first time in her life, she ran down the stairs and tripped on the bottom step landing in a heap on the straw-strewn floor beneath. She began kicking her legs in anger and a massive tantrum erupted, she was sobbing and crying out, and banging her fists upon the floor. I heard myself saying in a loud voice, loud enough for her to hear, “I’ll bet she was a spoilt-brat as a child”. She stopped crying immediately and looked around at me with a red tear-soaked face and glowered at me. But as I looked around the room, it was full of people, hundreds of them, all familiar to me, and they were all nodding their heads in agreement some even saying openly out-loud, “She was, she was and she is”…

Then the LORD said something that startled me awake; “Antiques appreciate in value with age, but heirlooms tend to loose their value” I said, “What does that mean LORD?” He answered me, “Antiques are valued by collectors and looked after by dealers, they are maintained and treasured. However, Heirlooms are handed down from one generation to the next, and more often than not they are not valued by those who receive them, they are viewed as an encumbrance and an embarrassment and often hidden in the attic or loft.”

“Antiques appreciate in value with age, but heirlooms tend to loose their value”

“Heirlooms are handed down from one generation to the next, and more often than not they are not valued by those who receive them, they are viewed as an encumbrance and an embarrassment and often hidden in the attic or loft.”

After a while, I was fully awake by now, but then the LORD said again, “So it is with the Christian faith, as a man or woman who’s become a convert to My Son Jesus Christ grows older, the rest of the Saints value him or her and treasure their God given wisdom and gifts. They are looked after and honoured in their meetings and I LOVE them too. However, when that same Christian faith is second or third generation, then those born into a family of faith, with real saints in their family line, they more often than not view their hand-me-down faith as an encumbrance, they have a form of Christianity, but it’s devoid of My power. They know all about My Son, but they don’t know My Son Jesus and so they do not treasure their faith as their relatives once did.”

The woman in my dream was born into a family with a strong Evangelical tradition, she’d been brought up to go to church, was the sparkling gem of a child, who because of her family heritage was even spoilt in Sunday School. (Spoilt means = Having the character or disposition harmed by pampering or oversolicitous attention) and you know how she turned out, but there is real HOPE: Because that woman became a born-again believer in the LORD JESUS CHRIST. She is just as on-fire with the Holy Spirit today as her ancestors were. What happened? She met Jesus for herself: Repented, Received Him as Lord and got baptised.

My friends, you cannot be born a Christian, you must be born-again. You cannot be a Christian because Granny was a strong believer or Grandaddy was an Elder or Deacon in the Church; you must be born-again yourself.

“Nobody can enter the Kingdom of Heaven, unless they are born again of God’s Holy Spirit.”

You cannot get born-again, by just attending church, being baptised, going to Sunday School or taking Holy Communion. No my friends, you too must come to believe that Jesus died upon the Cross for your own sins, all those Commandments of the LORD that you’ve broken will one day land you in Hell, unless you too repent and trust the Saviour for your Salvation. Why? Because God must punish sin and until you come to the Saviour in repentance and faith, you are carrying your own load of sin. You’ll carry it all the way to the judgement unless you hand it over to Jesus at the Cross.

Time is short, time is running out, each day that passes is one more step towards Eternity. So take the leap into Jesus arms right now, and let Him catch you before you fall into the pit of Hell.

Be certain today that you’ve turned from your sins, stop trusting in your own goodness and begin trusting in Christ’s goodness to save you from God’s wrath to come.

Ardian Rogers explains it so clearly; “All sin will either be pardoned in Christ or punished in hell. No sin and no person who sins will slip by, adjudged.” Adrian Rogers. Love Worth Finding.

“All sin will either be pardoned in Christ or punished in hell.

No sin and no person who sins will slip by, adjudged.”

A ‘faith’ that’s handed down from one generation to the next, without becoming personal and real, is no faith at all. No wonder so many people who think they are Christians because their family were strong believers, are treating their faith as if it’s an encumbrance or an embarrassment.

My friends, when you KNOW Jesus, your faith in Him is valued above everything else in life.

  • You’ll treasure your Bible because you’ll know it’s God’s love letter to you. That He speaks to you through it’s pages and guides you in life and corrects your thought and desires.
  • You’ll long to gather with the brothers and sisters to worship with all your heart and sing your praises to the Lord until it hurts, because you love HIM.
  • You long for and look for opportunities to share you faith with others and spread the good news, because you can’t bear the thought of anyone, even your worst enemy, spending one moment in Hell with the Devil.
  • You’ll also look for ways to be used by the LORD for good in the world. Instead of avoiding the poor, the weak, the lame and the outcast, you’ll search them out an help them. Why? Because you’ll be filled with the LOVE of the LORD.
  • You’ll look for and desire to be filled with God’s Holy Spirit every day and moment by moment throughout each day of your life; Why? Because you know that trying to get by in your own strength and ability leads to spiritual failures.

As you grow into an old Saint in Christ my friends, growing up in that kind of faith, then you too will become a treasured antique; treasured by your fellow saints and by the LORD Jesus Christ.

God bless and I hope you all have an AWESOME weekend.

(Now I can go back to bed, it’s only 2.45am 😎 😆 😛  ).

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I thank you that I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139), that you’re calling everyone out of darkness into your marvellous, magnificent, amazing light. Please help me today to be the person You want me to be. Fill me with the Holy Spirit Lord, because I need Your power to live each moment for You. Amen!

For Further Study / Scripture Notes:

If You Sin: You’ll Die: Why? Because each person will pay for their own sin: Ezekiel 18:20  “The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him.”

(Don’s Side – NOTE: Therefore, no one can be saved because their mum, dad or granny or granddaddy were Christians. You must become ‘righteous’ in Christ yourself, but trusting in the Lord’s death for your own sins.)

All Have Sinned: Romans 3:23  “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

(Don’s Side-Note: Each one of us has broken at least one of God’s Commandments; lying, stealing, lusting, cheating, coveting, dishonouring our parents).

DEATH because of SinRomans 5:12  “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

God’s Wages For Sin: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

What IS Sin? (KJV & NIV) 1 John 3:4 “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”

1 John 3:4 “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.”

So SIN is: Breaking God’s Moral Law: Revealed in His Ten Commandments. (NOTE: The Ten Commandments are NOT ten suggestions, but Commands by God to be obeyed, we break them and become guilty law-breakers)

HOW do we get to be ‘righteous’? 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For He [God the Father] hath made Him [Jesus Christ] to be sin for us, Who [Jesus] knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him [Jesus].

(Don’s Side-Notes: We become righteous in Christ the moment we receive Him as our Saviour after believing that He died on the cross for our sin and rose from the dead to show that God the Father was satisfied with His Sacrifice for sin, then we repent (turn from all sin in our life) and receive Him as our Lord).

There are NO second-hand Christians, only first-hand Believers. You can be purchased (redeemed) by Jesus today.

The Gifts of WISDOM and KNOWLEDGE

Getting the Gifts of the holy Spirit of God

Daily Spirit & Word: 546: The Gifts of Wisdom and Knowledge.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit #2. Wisdom & Knowledge.

1 Corinthians 12:8 “To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,”

After wetting your appetite and hopefully increasing your hunger for more of God’s Spirit in your life, we’re now going to be delving into God’s Word, to see what He has to say about the various gifts. This calls for a much deeper study, to systematically look-out, dig-in and search for the various ways that the Lord has gifted and anointed people in the past and how He longs to give the same gifts of the Holy Spirit for believer and followers of Jesus Christ today.

The first two gifts mentioned in Paul’s list: Wisdom and Knowledge. You’ll notice that He’s listed them together, and in fact if you take the time to study God’s Word, you’ll notice that they are often given to an individual simultaneously (as the same time). WOWzer! When you get God’s gift of Wisdom, you’ll also get Knowledge.

But notice what God has said through Paul: To one there is given wisdom, to another knowledge. It seems there are going to be degrees of these gifts; so one person will be given WISDOM which will of course be accompanied by a degree of knowledge, but another person, will be given KNOWLEDGE to an even greater degree.

Let’s look into God’s Word to see how these Gifts of the Holy Spirit have been used in the past:

Wisdom Is GIVEN:

1 Corinthians 1:5 — For in him you have been enriched in every way—in all your speaking and in all your knowledge—

1 Corinthians 1:30 — It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

1 Corinthians 2:6-10 — We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”— 10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

1 Corinthians 13:2 — If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

1 Corinthians 13:8 — Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Genesis 41:38 — So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?”

Genesis 41:39 — Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no-one so discerning and wise as you.

Exodus 31:3 — and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts—

1 Kings 3:5-12 — At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” 6 Solomon answered, “You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day. 7 “Now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. 8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?” 10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. 11 So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, 12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.

NOW: I’m going to ask you to do something: MEDITATE: Stop and think and dwell upon these verses and portions of the Bible. Read them slowly, let the words sink in and ask the LORD for the Spiritual Gifts of both: Wisdom and Knowledge. Yes, the Holy Spirit will choose which ‘special’ gifts you are going to receive, but God loves and longs to give us so much more than we can even imagine, but we do need to be asking. As you meditate and study these verses you’re going to notice some amazing truths. Remember it’s by KNOWING the TRUTH that we are being set free. You’ll be given tremendous insight by God the Holy Spirit if you do this deep, meditation. Read these verses out loud, write them out by hand, pray them in to your heart, read them in context and then: wait upon the LORD.

TWO THINGS WILL HAPPEN:

As you dwell, study, meditate and pray; two things a definitely going to happen in your life: Your mind is going to be renewed (you’ll get WISDOM) and your life is going to be transformed (You’ll get KNOWLEDGE). Why? Because we serve an awesome, fearful and wonderful God. His Word is living and active and will penetrate. We need to put our roots down deep, much deeper than ever before into God’s Word.

Enjoy your deeper delving into God’s Word: Please feel free to share with others what you have learned from this exercise.

Have and awesome day with Jesus.

426: The Meaning of the Dread Filled Dream.

Daily Spirit & Word, 426: The Meaning of the Dread Filled Dream.

426 Empires Dream Meaning
Daily Spirit & Word, 426: The Meaning of the Dread Filled Dream.
Good morning my friends, before moving onto chapter 3 of Daniel next week, I wanted to move from talking about Daniel’s rise to prominence in Babylon to reflecting upon the Dread Filled Dreams of the King.
First let’s just remind ourselves of the situation: The King’s Dream:
Daniel 2:1-3.
1  One night during the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had such disturbing dreams that he couldn’t sleep.
2  He called in his magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and astrologers, and he demanded that they tell him what he had dreamed. As they stood before the king,
3  he said, “I have had a dream that deeply troubles me, and I must know what it means.”
So far we don’t know what the dream was, all we know is that it was disturbing enough for the King to gather every wise man in his kingdom to explain it to him. Only one problem, he wasn’t going to tell them what the dream was, they needed to tell him his dream and what it meant: Impossible right? He threatened to kill them all if they couldn’t do it. After all what use is a magician, sorcerer etc if they can’t perform magic for a King?
Anyway, Daniel and his friends ask the LORD for the dream and it’s meaning. After the revelation Daniel breaks out into praise. Daniel 2:20-23
20  He said, “Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power.
21  He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.
22  He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.
23  I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. You have told me what we asked of you and revealed to us what the king demanded.”
When you seek the LORD for His ways, He’ll always give you far more than you’ve asked of Him. Daniel doesn’t just get the meaning of the Dream, but a Deeper REVELATION of the Nature of God and His POWER.
Here then is what God reveals to Daniel; The King’s Dream:
Daniel 2:26-35 The King’s Dream Revealed.
26  The king asked Daniel (also called Belteshazzar), “Are you able to tell me what I saw in my dream and interpret it?”
27  Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about,
28  but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in days to come. Your dream and the visions that passed through your mind as you lay on your bed are these:
29  “As you were lying there, O king, your mind turned to things to come, and the revealer of mysteries showed you what is going to happen.
30  As for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because I have greater wisdom than other living men, but so that you, O king, may know the interpretation and that you may understand what went through your mind.
31  “You looked, O king, and there before you stood a large statue—an enormous, dazzling statue, awesome in appearance.
32  The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze,
33  its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of baked clay.
34  While you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them.
35  Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a threshing-floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.
Next Daniel Explains the Meaning of the King’s Dream:
Daniel 2:36-45 36  “This was the dream, and now we will interpret it to the king.
37  You, O king, are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory;
38  in your hands he has placed mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds of the air. Wherever they live, he has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.
39  “After you, another kingdom will rise, inferior to yours. Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule over the whole earth.
40  Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others.
41  Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay.
42  As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle.
43  And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.
44  “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure for ever.
45  This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands—a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces. “The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and the interpretation is trustworthy.”
The Kingdoms:
1) Golden Head: Babylon.
2) Silver: Medes and Persians
3) Bronze: The Greek Empire.
4) Iron & Clay: The Roman Empire: Divided East and West, Weak and crumbling, mixed and feeble.
5) Rock: The Kingdom of the LORD Jesus Christ. The Rock that the builders rejected.
Rock Cut from the Mountain: The Son came down to earth from the Father.
God was going to set up a Kingdom that will never be destroyed: The Kingdom of the KING of Kings. Can you see now why we call Jesus the King of Kings?
Praise the LORD, for as Daniel prayed and praised; He knows the future, the past and the present. He knows what’s going to happen in human history long before the events took place and He revealed it to Daniel. How awesome is that. Hundreds of years before the Romans came, Daniel knew about it. No wonder the King fell at Daniel’s feet in awe and fear.
What was it that was revealed? Not just the Kingdoms of the Earth, but that God KNOWS and God uses them for His Glory.

Trust in the LORD who know all things.
Praise the LORD who knows all about your life, before one day comes into being, he knows all the rest as well.
That’s Divine Knowledge: All Knowing God.
My God really IS    A W E S O M E!

Later on in the book of Daniel, he will reveal more about the Son of Man (The Messiah, the Rock) who’s Kingdom will never end, but today let’s just hold this TRUTH in our hearts today; God Knows Everything.
I hope you all have an AWESOME Saturday too.

423: God’s Anointing For Education

Daily Spirit & Word, 423: God’s Anointing For Education
The way to GET a Divine Education.
Knowing and Understanding with God’s Help.

Good morning my friends, hope you are all ready to jump right into God’s Word today 🙂
Daniel 1:17-20 “To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.
18  At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar.
19  The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service.
20  In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.
Notice first, or the first things that jumped out at me today, was the fact that our Bible text seems to ignore their Babylonian names and reverts to referring to them according to their Jewish names again.
It’s perhaps because within each name is an aspect of God’s Character and to show us all today that once empowered by God, the glory always belongs to the LORD. For it was our LORD who gave them “Knowledge and understanding” So that whilst they were undergoing the Babylonian education process, they could understand and know the meaning of what was being presented to them.
Notice secondly; the focus is definitely upon Daniel, he’s been specially selected by God and given an entirely different form of gift; “To understand visions and dreams of all kinds”. Daniel would later become the interpreter of the King’s dreams and much later he would also be given his own dreams from the LORD.
What does all this mean?
We send our children to schools to learn the ways of the world, to get what we call a ‘Secular’ education: The aim is to produce children who are well balanced and educated in many different ways; mathematics, language, science, history, geography, music, drama, arts, domestic science,  etc, etc, and to keep them healthy as well as wise; physical education with sports, games and athletics.
Education is very important, but there is something we should ponder here, these young Jewish boys, who were part of God’s family on the earth at the time, we’re specially gifted by God to understand and know. As Christians, we also believe that secular education is vital for life, but so is Spiritual education, we all need the LORD’S anointing, not just for success and hopefully a good career afterwards, but so that we can have His wisdom to apply what we’ve learned to our Christians walk with Him. What encourages me to keep learning both from secular sources and divine (God’s Word) is that the LORD promises to give us Spiritual gifts and also a further promise to have wisdom; which is a ability to know and understand what it all means on a different level. Oh my friends, do we need this gift today? Oh YES we do.
Daniel and his friends succeeded before the king.
After being brought before the king to be examined after the three years of training, out of all the trainees, Daniel and his three friends stood head-and-shoulders above all the others. It wasn’t because of their own natural talent, but because of God’s gifting.
With God’s help and anointing our own children will fare well too in all their secular teaching:
However, a word of caution: They not only had the gift of understanding, but also of knowing. Knowledge and Understanding should always go hand in hand. We don’t want our children to be gifted just to acquire lots of knowledge about the world, but to be able to taken that deep knowledge and then apply God’s understanding to it. We want that for ourselves too, don’t we?
I don’t know about you, but I’m still in love with learning; even more interested in science today than I was before I became a Christian, I love looking into and understanding how things work; I’ve delved into Electronics, and love understanding the latest technology. Photography and how it can be applied in it’s various forms. Wine making, and even looking into what it is that makes cement hard, the history of cement making 🙂 I’ve got an amazing and enquiring mind, so have you.
But why? Why do we need to keep learning and knowing and understanding? Paul was our great example of this in the New Testament, because as he travelled about the Empire preaching the Gospel, he looked for ways to communicate God’s eternal truth in such a way that those who heard him could understand and relate to what he was saying. He studied the poets of Greece in order to communicate to the Greek Philosophers. We know this because Greek poets are quoted in Paul’s writings, but he doesn’t stop short at just quoting them, he gives God’s Anointed Application to what he’s previously learned.

Warren W. Wiersbe has said, “If you want to make a living, you get training; and if you want to make a life, you add education. But if you want to have a ministry for God, you must have divine gifts and divine help. Training and education are very important, but they are not substitutes for the ability and wisdom that only God can give.”
Bible Exposition Commentary – “Be Resolute (Daniel).

Thankfully The LORD has promised to help you and I with this Diving Ability too. Listen afresh to what James tells us now;
How To GET God’s Education System:
James 1:2-8 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3  because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5  If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6  But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7  That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8  he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.”
So if we lack or need wisdom for anything, what do we need to do? ASK God. He’s promised in His WORD to give generously to all without showing favouritism.
I’ve been asking the LORD ever since I came to faith to give me His anointing to understand and know the times in which we live and how to apply that knowledge to daily life and to help me to teach others too. For you to understand how much He’s helped me, you need to know what I was like when I began. Only the LORD and I know how much He’s helped me, and He alone knows even better than I do myself. But I’m continuing to trust Him and I’m convinced that when I’m presented before the KING of Kings, hopefully, with his help and anointing, I’ll be found to have been faithful in all that I’ve been discovering, all the glory belongs to my LORD Jesus Christ.
The Jewish boy’s success: Daniel 1:20 “In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.”
It was the LORD who gave them both their ‘natural’ ability and ‘supernatural’ ability, for we were knitted together in our mother’s womb by the LORD. Psalm 139.
When you get gifted, give the glory to HIM.
Have an awesome day with Jesus my friends, what you learn and know and understand, use for His glory.
He’ll lift you up head and shoulders above the world’s ways of understanding and knowing, because His ways are higher than our ways, and with Jesus Divine gifting and anointing, you will surely enjoy this gift of life to the full.
But you must ASK of Him.
Don.
