The Untouchables

Jesus touches the untouchables and makes them clean

Daily Spirit & Word: 591: The Untouchables.

Would You Touch A Leper?

Good morning my friends, in our Church we’re about to begin a new preaching / teaching series on the Gospel of Mark. I’m getting ready and have been reading it through again. I was touched by my King Jesus today, because He’s willing and ready to touch everybody.

Leprosy is a disease: It has many forms, but in it’s worst form it is contagious, it spreads and isolates people.

In the time of Jesus they didn’t differentiate between forms of leprosy they treated everyone who contracted the disease the same; they isolated them and made certain they kept their distance from uncontaminated people.

Bells were placed around their necks and they were to shout a warning when approached by someone “Unclean, Unclean” “Leprosy” or “Leper coming through”… Leviticus 13:45-46  “The person with such an infectious disease must wear torn clothes, let his hair be unkempt, cover the lower part of his face and cry out, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ 46  As long as he has the infection he remains unclean. He must live alone; he must live outside the camp.”

Would you touch a Leper? Jesus did!

Mark 1:40-45 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
41  Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”
42  Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.
43  Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning:
44  “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
45  Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.

“I AM Willing”

“If You Are Willing?” the Leper pleaded with Jesus and our Lord Jesus said, “I AM willing”

My friends, this touch of the untouchable is astonishing, because everybody who touches a leper becomes ritually unclean in Jesus day. They were considered to be contaminated. However, the man gets cured and runs around telling everybody about his healing. It becomes impossible for Jesus to move around freely. So instead of the Leper being isolated, as required by the Law of Moses, in lonely places, it’s our LORD who’s forced to go, He had to stay outside the towns and cities as a result of touching that Leper, but it wasn’t because Jesus was infected, but because everyone wanted to touch or be touched by the Saviour.

Knowing that Jesus was willing to touch an untouchable man gave EVERYBODY confidence that this man Jesus would also be likely to be willing to touch them and heal them too.

My friends, Jesus is still willing to touch the untouchable, the unclean, the sinner. He’s also waiting to touch your heart too. He’s longong for you to shout out to Him, “Lord if you are willing, you can make me clean”. He IS WILLING.

No wonder Jesus wanted to move on, because He didn’t care about being popular or famous, Jesus came with a Mission and a Message, not just to heal. He understood the shallowness of people who’d come just for what they wanted. They were not coming to hear Jesus words or his message, but to feel His touch. They knew that just one touch from this man changes everything.

I love that worship song; “Just ONE touch of the King changes everything”

How different we are to that Leper:

  • He was commanded by Jesus to “Keep quiet about his healing”. Instead he told EVERYBODY.
  • We are commanded to tell everyone the Good News of Jesus: Instead we keep quiet and don’t tell ANYBODY.

People came from everywhere to be touched by Jesus.

Although Sin is just like Leprosy; it contaminates deeper than the surface of the skin, it spreads, it affects your life by isolating you from God, from fellowship and ultimately from Heaven. Sin cuts us off from God.

Isaiah 59:2 (NLT) “It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.”

But Jesus died so that we could all be healed from the disease of sin, and from the effects of sin. Jesus shed His blood upon the Cross so that we could to be set free from God’s wrath and anger and ultimately from His punishment for our sins, when we repent and trust Jesus as Lord and Saviour, then we’re set-free from sin to follow Jesus commands and teachings. He is willing to touch the untouchables today.

Have an awesome day, don’t be afraid to touch someone for Jesus today and be willing (as Jesus was) to be used by the Lord to reach out in love and touch some precious souls for Jesus. No matter who you may think is untouchable, they are all precious to the Lord Jesus, because Jesus gave His life for EVERYONE.

I’m praying that you’ll have a lovely day, learning to love like Jesus and touch your lepers’ hearts.

The Prince Is Living Like A Pauper

Living as a Prince in God's Kingdom

Daily Spirit & Word 557:

The Prince Is Living Like A Pauper.

Good morning my friends, Last night’s Discipleship Meeting was truly AWESOME. We had a few more people and so reviewed the first week’s teaching, quickly 🙂 Then we discovered all the promises and privileges we have as Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. One of those privileges is that we are heirs and co-heirs with Christ of the Kingdom. That means we are ROYALTY. Every truly born again Christian is a Prince or a Princess in God’s Kingdom Family, but why is it that so many of us living like paupers?

I watched a News snippet the other day of Prince William, who’d just become an Air Ambulance Pilot. When asked why he was doing it, he said, “It’s to keep my feet on the ground” Hello, am I the only one who knows helicopters don’t keep your feet on the ground 🙂 LOL. However, when questioned further William said, “I just want to stay grounded, rooted and let people know that I’m just like them, to stay in touch with reality, just like an ordinary good guy, doing some good in society”.

We can all relate with that wonderful sentiment can’t we? However, we’ve also heard the saying over and over again, “too Heavenly minded to be any earthly use”. Some Christians have actually believed that foolishness, so much so that they think they should be soaked in worldly things so that they’ll be ‘earthly’ useful. Prince William wants to be of some value, to do good and to not just live like a Royal Prince in a Palace or doing appearances and waving at the crowds. He wants to be seen as an ordinary person as well. But Christians, just like Prince William are NOT ordinary.

So Christians do the same, they’ll stop going to so many prayer meetings, Bible study groups, fellowship groups; why? because they don’t want to appear too heavenly minded to be any earthly use. They don’t want to appear “holier than thou”. However, in the process they’re short-changing themselves and living far below God’s call and purposes.

They are God’s Kingdom Princes and Princesses, but they are beginning to live like paupers.

We so easily forget this wonderful statement from God’s Word;

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Just as Prince William has been chosen by destiny to BE a Prince of the Royal Family. So you have been selected by God from all the other people upon the face of the earth to be His PEOPLE.

  • You ARE Chosen:
  • You ARE ROYAL:
  • You ARE HOLY:
  • You ARE Part of the Kingdom NATION (i.e. You’ve received a NEW NATIONALITY the moment you trusted Jesus).
  • You ARE Belonging to God. You are His and He is yours.

You ARE all these things for a PURPOSE:

“That you may declare the praises of HIM who called you out of darkness into HIS wonderful light”

So if we are all of the above as Disciples of Jesus Christ, then why on earth do we live as if we are ‘just like everybody else’? Why would we want to? Why do we do it? Why are God’s Princes and Princesses living as if they are paupers?

There is a growing awakening amongst Christians today, a realisation that we are NOT living the way the the LORD wants us to really live. We’ve settled for way too little, we living far below His high calling, we’re only just glimpsing the prospect of what it (life) could be like if we just took God at His Word.

We can see it (the fullness of life) from time to time, when the BIG man of God comes to a meeting, and the POWER of God is present for a little while, two hours or so at a gathering, but when we get home, the POWER levels sink back down to ab-normal. I say ‘abnormal’ because that’s NOT what God wants, but what we’ve been suckered into accepting. We’ve been deceived into believing that the KINGDOM POWER is only for a few, very special, highly qualified, gifted individuals, but not for ‘ordinary’ poor little me. So God’s Royal Family are beginning to live as if they are just like everybody else, ordinary.

You ARE Royalty.

Don’t you know that the SAME power that raised Christ from the dead is IN YOU?

Don’t you realise that You a filled to overflowing with the SAME Holy Spirit that indwelt Christ at His baptism, the SAME Holy Spirit that was with Jesus in the Wilderness, The SAME Holy Spirit that empowered the Lord Jesus Christ whilst He went around teaching and performing miracles. Yes my friends, you are FILLED to overflowing with the very SAME Holy Spirit. It’s GOD Himself LIVING in you.

So now you can live in that POWER and BE the Royal Prince and Princesses that He’s called you to be.

What does it take to see that POWER at work?

It takes obedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Listening to His promptings.

When you see someone, anyone, sick or in some kind of need, you’ll be just like Jesus, doing what the Father commanded Him to do, being obedient and reaching out to them in that same Spirit Power, touching, healing. The resources you’ve been given will be used for Kingdom Family business. Seek FIRST the Kingdom. You’ll LIVE for the Kingdom. The Kingdom will be your TOP priority in LIFE. Nothing else! Nothing will come in the way between you and living for God’s Kingdom: Nothing.

Now all you have to do is take a step of faith and try it. Pray for people, don’t give up, lay hands on people, see the Kingdom Power at work. Get together with other Christians and TRY it. Be filled with God’s Holy Spirit, Repent of ALL known sin in your life. Jesus wants to use you powerfully as a Prince and Princess in His Kingdom, so now you must start and continue to Live like Royalty that you are.

The Discipleship Meetings: Are not just to give us head-knowledge, but to transform our lives to that we can be the Disciples that Jesus called us to be when we started following Him. Have you been Discipled properly?

Jesus didn’t call us to go out and “Make Converts”: In the Great Commission He called us to go and Make Disciples and to TEACH people to live in obedience to the Commands and Teachings of the Messiah. That means actually living and doing what we see the new followers doing in the book of Acts: Going out, preaching the Good News, Healing the Sick, Casting out Demons, teaching others how to follow Jesus too and saving people from God’s Judgement to come. God wants you to LIVE like Princes and Princesses in His Kingdom. He’s made available ALL the resources that you need to be able to do what Jesus did. It’s happening today. Many Christians are waking-up to the reality of God’s call, will you be one of them?

Stay blessed, filled and empowered by God’s Holy Spirit. Avail yourself of everything He’s provided and do it today.

I’m praying: That every Christian reading this will be so full of God’s Spirit that they’ll leak His love and power all over the place, into the lives of those around them and that many will be touched and Saved.

A Darkness That Can Be Felt: Walk In The Light

A great darkness covered the land

Daily Spirit & Word, 550: Walk In The Light

Great Is The Darkness: “A Darkness That Can Be Felt”

Good morning my friends, I was half-dreaming half-awake this morning at 4.30am and the Lord was speaking to me about the DARKNESS. I got up quickly and opened my Bible and the Software and began to study the ‘darkness’ in the Bible.

The Word the Lord gave me was; “A Darkness that may be felt.”

Exodus 10:21 (NIV) “Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand towards the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.””

  • When Mankind walks away from God, they walk away from the light into a DARKNESS that can be felt.
  • A moral darkness covers the land.
  • To be in the darkness is to be without the light of Christ.
  • To be in the dark, is to be blind, blinded, can’t see.

They are blinded to their need of salvation. 2 Cor 4:4.
They are blinded to their moral condition. (Call sin good).
They are blinded to their destiny. (Don’t believe, choose not to accept, deny; Hell).
They are robbed of a sense of fear of God (They are bold, brazen about sin).
They are darkened in their understanding of anything good.

Great IS the Darkness.

Last night at the Monthly Prayer Meeting in Church, we touched upon the subject of the moral condition of those that don’t yet know Christ as Lord. A great discussion ensued about homosexuality being the NEW Schism in the church. How many who call themselves Christians are now saying that it’s OK to be homosexual, even so called Evangelicals are walking over to the dark side.

We got that from just re-reading Sunday’s lesson from 1 Corinthians 1:18-25.

Ten of the most well known Christian preachers / teachers were interviewed and asked their opinion on the subject of same-sex-marriage and homosexuality: You can watch their answers by clicking the link at the bottom.

Note: The one’s that gave the clearest answers were those who have the highest regard for the Word of the Lord. When the Bible says something, it’s as if God has said it. It’s true my friends, the Bible IS God’s WORD on any subject. Note those that gave the weakest answers were those who had a higher regard for what people feel. Joel Osteen, for instance, was determined that he didn’t want to upset anyone. Almost as soon as he acknowledged homosexuality was a sin, he immediately tried to cover-up that fact and that he believed it. So frightened is he of upsetting his ‘Positivity’ message.

DARKNESS: Is a kind of moral blindness in the Bible.

It’s an inability to see what sin is. It’s a failure to acknowledge sin as sin.

It’s an sensual-feeling darkness. A darkness that can be felt.

I’ve had one of those nights when the LORD was speaking to me about the DARKNESS and how great is that darkness. It wouldn’t go away. It came at me again and again in the night: Benighted.

We’ve also had that feeling of Darkness too; when out sharing the Gospel of Jesus. There are some individuals, that when you speak with them about Jesus, they give off a kind of darkness that can be felt. You can feel it in your soul the moment you begin speaking with them. More often than not this happens when people declare that they’ve rejected God or turned away from Him because of their lifestyle. Read Sarah’s Story (Link at bottom of page) and you’ll see that the Darkness is real.

However: BLIND people don’t need our condemnation.

They need to be brought into the light.

They need our LOVE no matter what it is they’ve done.

They need to be saved from the darkness.

Read Sarah’s Story of Deliverance from Sam-Sex-Attraction (Link at bottom).

Nor can we boast; (By ‘we’ I mean Christians).

  • We did not save ourselves.
  • We are not saved because of our own goodness. (Rom 3:20)
  • We are ALL sinners: Because we’ve ALL fallen short of God’s goodness (Rom 3:23).
  • We are SAVED by God’s GRACE not by our own good works. (Ephesians 2:8-9).

2 Corinthians 4:2-6
2  Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
3  And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
4  The god of this age (Satan) has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
5  For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.
6  For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

If a blind man was walking towards the edge of a cliff???? Surely LOVE would compel you to shout a warning.

Blind are they that walk in darkness.

If a blind man had tripped over something, you would not blame the Blind Man would you? No! You’d blame the person who put the obstacle in the Blind Man’s pathway.

Satan has blinded:

Our battle is NOT against flesh and blood.

Isaiah 5:20  “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”

The Darkness that can be felt: Is for those who are perishing, those on their way to death and destruction in Hell. Love, compassion and kindness compels us to share the good news of Jesus that we may save some from the darkness.

WHO IS IN THIS DARKNESS? (Don’t be Deceived).

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders,
10  nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11  And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

Those in Darkness: We don’t normally think that a ‘greedy’ person is wicked or in DARKNESS do we? Let us NOT be deceived.

The human tendency is to point the finger at something that we are not; thinking that we are ‘something’ when we are not. We didn’t save ourselves, Jesus did that. We are in Christ, because of Christ. (1 Corinthians 1:30).

1 Corinthians 1:29-31 “so that no-one may boast before him. 30  It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31  Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.””

PRAY: That the LORD will, by His Holy Spirit, lead our Nations out of this great darkness. That He’ll so fill His people with a deep compassion for those that have been blinded, who are in darkness, that we will do everything we can to bring others into the light of Jesus Christ, and that by His grace and kindness He’s given to each one of us, we’ll draw others to HIM.

Before I came to know the Lord Jesus, I was afraid of the DARKNESS. I hated being in dark places. I could feel the darkness. It was horrible. Once, when I was alone in bed in a darkened room, I could feel the presence of evil. I called out to the LORD Jesus Christ and asked Him to be with me, in the darkness. Since that night, I’ve NEVER been afraid of the DARKNESS again. I was set free from the fear of the darkness by Jesus. My friends, many who are walking in the darkness are afraid, they’re frightened of the light, they don’t want to come into the light for fear; fear that they are going to be exposed / reproved (John 3:20).

John 3:20 “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” KJV.

John 3:19-20 “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20  Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.” NIV.

Finally, Jesus declared; John 8:12 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””

  • Everyone can be set free to walk in the light.
  • Everyone has a Conscience (they know what they are doing is wrong).
  • The Darkness can be felt.

Walk in the Light. (1 John 1:6-8)

1 John 1:6-8 “If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.

7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8  If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”

I’m praying that I can be walking in the light of the Lord Jesus Christ today.

Set me free from the DARKNESS Lord.
Keep me free from the DARKNESS Lord.
Help me to be an instrument for good Lord, to lead others into the Light. Amen.

Take Your Eyes Off the Wheels Boy

Getting the Fire of the Holy Spirit going.

Daily Spirit & Word: 548:

“Take Your Eyes OFF The Wheels Boy”

Holy Spirit Gifts #4: HEALING. “Fan Into Flame”

1 Corinthians 12:9  “to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit …”

Good morning my friends, HEALING is a blessed gift of the Holy Spirit. He gives it to individuals even today, but like most of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we’re not going to see it or experience it until we begin to exercise it. Yes every gift needs to be fanned into flame.

In Paul’s second letter to Timothy we read that he’s encouraging him to “stir-up” KJV “fan-into-flame” NIV, The GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. If Timothy needed to do that my friends, then we do too.

My friends, every gift of the Holy Spirit must be used or it’s power within us will dim or dwindle, it will become like: ‘a bruised reed or a smouldering wick: Matthew 12:20  “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory.” i.e. You’ll never loose it completely. Once God gives you a GIFT it’s yours forever. God will never take back a GIFT that He’s given to you. Romans 11:29  “for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.” He’ll never take them away from you once He’s given you something; Just like all the favours / gifts which God gives to followers of Jesus Christ; including; pardon, forgiveness, peace, joy, salvation, heaven and eternal life.

However, just like every gift we receive, both worldly and spiritual, if we do not use them rightly, they’ll become rusty.

“fan into flame the gift of God”

I remember getting a bike for Christmas one year: Well, it wasn’t truly mine alone, my big brother Joe and I had to share it. When we first got that bike we’d ride it every day for hours at a time. I learned to ride a bike on that bike. My brother Joe just got on and rode along the road, but I got on and fell off. He could even ride it with no hands, I couldn’t do it with two hands on the handlebars.

I’ll never forget that experience: I was going round and round a builder’s yard. I was falling off and the wheels were shaking. I couldn’t understand how my brother could just get on and go, without any wobbles. An old lady, who’d obviously been watching my futile attempts shouted some advice from her balcony; “Don’t look at the wheels boy, don’t look at the wheels!” Those words are ringing in my ears some 50+ years later. “Don’t look at the wheels boy” She was right of course; It took me ages, but once I stopped looking at the wheels I was off. My heart rejoices even now at the tremendous feeling of freedom being able to ride and glide, it was almost as if I was flying. Soon I was able to do what my brother Joe instinctively did, ride with no hands.

It was awesome being able to ride a bike, but I think my trouble learning to do it has taught me something of immense value concerning the Holy Spirit Gifts: If you don’t use it, you’ll begin to loose it. You know the saying, “Once you learn to ride a bike, you’ve learned for life” right? NO! my friends, we do get rusty, and if we don’t use it so will the bike.

After a few weeks we stopped playing on the bike every day, we didn’t treasure it as we did at first. Sometimes, we’d leave it outside in the rain. Then after a while, weeks went by and we’d not even bother to think about riding it. After a few weeks, one day I decided that I wanted to ride my bike, I entered the garden and found the tyres were flat and the wheels stiff to turn. My bike had rusted-up and become so stiff and hard to even push. The chain was all brown and hard and stiff. I remember crying that my bike had gotten into such a state. My dad came and helped me, but it took ages to get my bike working again. Lots of oil and rags to clean it up, new tyres and soon it was back to normal again.

“It got RUSTY through lack of use”

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are like that too.

The GIFT of HEALING: had almost been lost to the church. Over hundreds of years, probably even a 1000 years, the church had surrendered all the gifts to a very select few: the Clergy, the Professionals, the Ministers etc… But that was NEVER God’s intention, so over time is it any wonder that their use had become ‘rusty’ like my old bike? We’d forgotten that God had ever given the church Holy Spirit gifts for every single Christian to use. No wonder the ‘spirituality’ of Christendom faded. It wasn’t until last century, at the turn of the 20th century, with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Azusa Street, April 1906, that Pentecostal Fire came down again. Yes there had been little revivals in many places before, but nothing like this. However, I don’t think we get it even today. The FIRE is not for the ‘supermen and super-women’ of God, it’s for EVERY CHRISTIAN. I believe God is going to bring about an even bigger revival than anything that’s gone before. When the whole church wakes up to the fact that God has given every single Christian Spiritual Gifts, and we ALL begin to use them the way we should have been from the beginning. Oh WOWzer! Can you imagine what fire there’ll be when everyone is; healing, prophesying, loving, giving etc the way that God’s always wanted the Church to be. This is definitely going to be the NEW REVIVAL to beat ALL REVIVALS.

God has given Holy Spirit Gifts to be USED by EVERY Christian.

  • The Church has had it’s eyes on the wheels for far too long.
  • It’s time to take our eyes off the wheels and look towards heaven.
  • Let’s do all we can to “FAN-INTO-FLAME” the Holy Spirit Gifts.
  • Let’s do all we can to “STIR-UP” the Holy Spirit Gifts you’ve been given.

Paul’s encouragement to Timothy: to “fan-into-flame” the gift that he’d received at the laying on of hands reminds me today that we’ve got to KEEP using those wonderful gifts the LORD is still giving to every believer and follower of Jesus Christ today.

The GIFT of HEALING: is still available. God’ continues to bestow that gift, He’s giving that gift to individuals. We need to fan this gift into flame again my friends. Who’s got that gift? You won’t know, until you try healing. Whenever someone is sick ask them, “Would you like me to pray for you?” You’ll very soon discover if the LORD has gifted you. About a year ago I had to ask the Lord’s forgiveness, because I’d stopped laying hands on many people, but I’m doing it again my friends and people are getting healed today.

“Take your eyes off the wheels boy”

Just like me, learning to ride my bike, so the gifts of the Holy Spirit will be like that, at first we’ll be focusing upon how we do it. How we lay hands on etc… but we’ve got to lift our eyes up, past our hands, past the clouds, all the way to Heaven. It’s to the LORD alone that the gift comes from, not how we do it, not what we say, but it’s HIS POWER. It’s nothing of ourselves, it’s all of HIM. He’s the one who gives the POWER to heal, otherwise we’d take the credit for ourselves. Thankfully, we’ve got incidents in the Bible where people began to worship the disciples, as if by their own power they worked miracles, but the disciple had enough Spiritual common sense to rebuke everyone who began to worship them.

Acts 3:12 “When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?” It wasn’t Peter it was God.

Acts 10:25-26 “As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. 26  But Peter made him get up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.””

We’ve got to get our eyes much higher and we’ll be free to use Holy Spirit Gifts of Healing (and every other gift of the Holy Spirit), but we do need to keep using them, to fan them into flame, to stir-up the gifts given to us.

  • How’s your Holy Spirit gift being used today?
  • Are you exercising your gift or gifts regularly?
  • You need to be.

Oh Lord, Thank you for Mrs Pettigrew, who said those words to help me ride my bike; “Take your eyes off the wheels boy”. Help us Lord!

My prayer today: Friday 3rd of July 2015: “Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today and cry out asking for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, that every Christian, myself included, will repent of the sin of neglect of the gifts that you’ve bestowed upon us all. Please Lord, help us to fan-into-flames those gifts you’ve given to us. Help us Lord to see ways to use the gifts to bring You glory and bring about the revival we all want to see. Amen”.

It’s the Weekend 🙂 Praise the LORD! Hope you all have a fantastic Friday and Saturday. Remember Sunday is coming. Get to Church, Use your gifts and Praise the Lord!

Holy Spirit Gifts: Faith & Healing

Faith and Healing

Daily Spirit & Word: You Can’t WORK-UP Faith:

You can only RECEIVE it.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit #3: Faith & Healing.

1 Corinthians 12:9   “…to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,…”

The Holy Spirit Gifts of Faith and Healing:

In my experience it’s ALWAYS so exciting and faith-lifting when we see people being healed when we pray to the Lord Jesus for them.

There are different kinds or levels of faith:

Saving Faith:

Ephesians 2:8 (NIV) “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—

  • We are justified by faith.
  • We are sanctified by faith.

Justified = Just as if I’d never sinned.

Sanctified = Made into a Saint by faith in Jesus (Set apart for the Lord).

However, we must realise that ALL FAITH is a gift from God.

No matter what LEVEL of Faith you’ve got right now: Strong Faith or Weak Faith: It all comes from God and it is a free gift to you, but it cost Him a great deal to be able to give it, so receive it as the expensive gift that it is.

However, we must acknowledge and know that FAITH is a gift to be received. It’s NOT something you work-up, squeeze-out or make-happen. It’s ALL of God. I say this because I’ve seen so many wonderful Christians who’ve been shattered, demoralised and defeated, because some foolish person (sometimes with the best intentions) has said, “It’s because you’ve not got ‘enough’ faith”. Implying that it is the person’s fault or that somehow they just needed to squeeze faith out. Can you imagine what it would be like if you wanted to get toothpaste from a toothpaste-tube if it had been in the freezer for a week? No amount of squeezing is going to get any out.

Saying someone didn’t have ‘enough’ faith to make their healing happen if just wrong. It’s NOT right my friends, even simple faith is a GIFT from the LORD. Yes my friends, faith is a gift we can all receive, but He in His divine wisdom and sovereign choice chooses who’s going to have a ‘special’ gift of faith.

Faith & Healing:

Are massive subjects, however, they are listed side by side, which I believe is for a reason. Because, without faith it would be impossible to exercise the gift of healing and conversely without healing it would be impossible to exercise faith.

Every Believer in Jesus: Is HEALED the moment they believe and trust in Him. Healed from the cruse, pollution, pull and power of sin.

Every believer is first given the gift of faith to enable them to believe in Jesus. Without faith it is impossible to please God and yet it’s God that gives us faith.

It’s the HOLY SPIRIT who DRAWS us to faith and trust in Jesus: John 6:44 (NIV) “No-one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.” Do you see it? NO ONE can claim to have been saved by their own ‘great’ faith in Jesus. It’s ALL of God from beginning to end.

So when we get a very strong and powerful GIFT of FAITH: it’s not for us to be proud, puffed-up or boastful as if we’ve managed to get that faith all by ourselves or by our great goodness, God the Holy Spirit gave you that awesome, amazing, beautiful gift. So we are to use that gift of faith to BUILD UP THE BODY OF JESUS CHRIST. As stated yesterday, every GIFT of God’s Holy Spirit is to build up the church and to lead others to faith and trust in Jesus.

HEALING: We must note that there will be sick people on the Earth until the LORD returns and takes everyone to Heaven. In Heaven there will be no more sickness, crying or tears, but until then we’re stuck with decaying, diseased and dying bodies. However, sometimes the LORD will heal people miraculously. Even Jesus didn’t heal everybody: Remember the healing of the man by the pool (John 5), it was only he who received a healing that day, just didn’t heal everybody else at the pool. But when people came to Jesus for healing, He healed everyone. Tomorrow we’ll look at HEALING in a bit more depth, but for now: Pray that you’ll be given this awesome gift.

When we exercise (strengthen) our faith: it will grow stronger.

  • The GIFT of faith can grow even stronger.
  • The GIFT of faith can also grow weaker.

You’ve heard the saying, “Use it or loose it”… Well that’s quite true of the GIFT of FAITH. Though it cannot ever be completely lost once you’ve received it, it can become like a ‘smoking candle’ as if the fire has gone out. That happens when we stop EXERCISING our faith in Jesus.

Like normal muscles, FAITH needs to be constantly exercised or it’ll become almost useless and lifeless.

YOUR Faith will be TESTED:

God TESTS our faith, to see if we’re really holding onto Jesus.

Sometimes as you go on as a Christian, you’ll begin to think you can manage to live the Christian life on your own (who’d want to do that?) but that’s what we practically do, when we begin walking on our own, in our own strength, relying on past experience or knowledge. Somehow or other, we stop trusting in the Lord and begin to rely on the flesh. When that happens we’re headed for a fall. Every day, each believer must check themselves, to see if they’re STILL TRUSTING IN JESUS for their walk, witness and life. John 15 (The Vine and the Branches: Apart from Me you can do nothing).

I pray to the Lord Jesus Christ (every day) “Lord I’m going to trust You today: Help me to be a faithful Christian, a faithful witness and help me to stay close to you throughout this day” AMEN! My friends, the longer I go on as a Christian, the more I recognise that I need Jesus Christ and the indwelling Holy Spirit, every single day. “LORD, keep me from being proud”. “LORD, keep me from sinful thoughts”, “LORD, help me to speak Your Living Word”…. etc… I’m constantly praying throughout the day as well. We need to get into the good habit of walking constantly with Jesus in our thought life and we’ll begin to see great and wonderful things. He’ll guide you in conversations and situations and you’ll be totally amazed at what comes out of your mouth and the things you’ll be doing, all because you are walking with Jesus.

So the LORD tests you, to see if you are trusting in SELF or Jesus.

I’m praying that many of my friends, will get a great BIG boost of FAITH. It comes by hearing God’s WORD and I hope you’ve been lifted from the pit of despair today.

Come afresh to Jesus Christ, respond to the pull and call of the Holy Spirit, receive the GIFT of faith afresh today. He’s longing to give you more than you can ever imagine, more than you’ve ever had before, but when you get it, use it, use it to build the body and lead others to faith and trust in Jesus too.

“You Can’t Work-Up Faith, You Can ONLY Receive It”

“Receive It”

Have an AWESOME DAY full of FAITH and trust in Jesus. I know you are going to exercise your faith and see great an mighty things for Him. You are going to grow from strength to strength in Jesus.  “To God be the Glory, great things He hath done, so loved He the World that He gave us His Son.” Amen.

Jesus Presence For Your Despair.

When Feeling Desperate Jesus is Near

Daily Spirit & Word, 489: Jesus Presence For Your Despair.

40 Days With Jesus: Day 4. Jesus Presence For Your Despair.

John 20:10-14 (NIV)
10  Then the disciples went back to their homes, 11  but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12  and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. 13  They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14  At this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realise that it was Jesus.

Good morning my friends, we live in a world of deep despair. People are going through stuff every day and many are so troubled they give up any hope of ever being free from these desperate feelings. The reasons for our despair are many; for some it’s the daily struggle to make ends meet and provide for the family. For others it’s unhappiness at work or the fear of loosing one’s livelihood. For others it’s the break-up of significant relationships with loved ones and close friends.  Like Mary Magdalene mentioned above you may have also lost a love one. It might be that there’s nothing in your life right now to cause you to despair, but you are feeling as if something is missing, there’s an inner emptiness and restlessness.

The impression we get from reading John 20:10-14 above is that Mary is in deep despair, standing outside the tomb of Jesus weeping, she is so upset, heartbroken and grieving, that in her despair she fails to see or notice that God is showing her something to encourage her. Even the presence of Angelic Beings from Heaven should have indicated to Mary that God had something to do with the disappearance of Jesus’ body. It’s like that for many people in desperate times; no matter how hard you try to encourage them, because they are hurting, their soul focus is upon the hurt.

Try telling a man with toothache that the daffodils or forget-me-nots look lovely and the sunrise was awesome; he’ll not even want to entertain the idea of beauty until he gets relief from the pain in his teeth.

It’s the exact same for those who are suffering emotional pain and torment, sometimes even though there’s lots to be encouraged by, they cannot see it because something else has their complete attention, they are absorbed in their grief. This is hard for those trying to help them, because we cannot see their pain.

My friends, if Angels couldn’t help Mary, then don’t think you are going to be able to lift someone out of deep depression either. It takes a supernatural effort to life them for the deepest pits of despair. Jesus was standing right behind Mary, but she didn’t realise. Many people who’re going through tough times don’t realise that Jesus is right there with them. He’s loving them, because that’s part of His DIVINE NATURE. God is LOVE. Even when she turned around and saw Jesus, her grief was so intense that she didn’t recognise Him. She was still looking for Jesus dead body and even asked Jesus where the his body was. Oh my friends, when we’re desperate, sometimes even though it’s right in front of our face, we don’t perceive that Jesus is with us, that He’s trying to show us something to encourage us and build us up again.

Mary Magdalene really loved Jesus and that’s why she was grieving, her grief had blinded her to the reality of Jesus being right in front of her nose. For everyone who’s in despair today, Jesus is with you by His Holy Spirit. No matter what the cause of your despair is, know that he’s consistent and faithful to His Holy Promises. “He’ll NEVER leave you or forsake you”, “He’s with you and in you”, Jesus said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age”.

Listen afresh to the Divine promises of God in Isaiah 43:1-3.

Isaiah 43:1-3 (NIV)
1  But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3  For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.

For all of us, no matter what our emotional state at this moment in time, the above passage is medicine for our soul. God want you to know my friends just how much He loves you. His is an everlasting love. We all experience love from people and have been let down when they didn’t love us like we expected, right? Well my friends, God’s NOT like that, He’ll never let you down and when you pass through the troubled waters of grief His Holy Promise is “I WILL BE WITH YOU”.

Mary Magdalene didn’t see it until the Lord Jesus called her name, look at the Isaiah passage above, “I have summoned you by name”. When God called you into a relationship with Jesus, He called you by name, you are His, He chose you, He’s calling your name again this morning and He wants to be with you and heal you and help you.

Points to Ponder

  • Are you in deep despair? Do you believe that God’s love can overcome any pain or hopelessness you are facing? Is there someone you could ask to come and pray with you?
  • Have you noticed any patterns in your life where similar circumstances consistently cause you to feel down or depressed? How can you increase your awareness of the presence of Jesus? I’d suggest some of these things, they work for me every time: Prayer, Praise, Worship, Bible Reading and Study, Fellowship with fellow saints regularly, Fasting, Getting alone with the Lord and talking through my problems with Him.
  • Finally, do you know anyone who is currently in despair? Take some time to pray for them and ask the Lord if He wants you to be His hands and feet to be with them and to show them that Jesus really cares.

Prayers For Day 4 of 40 Days With Jesus.

Dear Lord Jesus, I want to reaffirm my commitment to You. I choose to put my trust in You today despite what I am facing or how I am feeling. You know every broken place in my life. You are immediately aware of my hurts and you keep track of all my sorrows. (Psalm 56:8). Lord Jesus, because you became a human being just like me, fully human in every way (Hebrews 2:17), I know that You identify with what I’m going through. Open my eyes Lord to recognise You in the midst of my brokenness, I’m trusting and believing today that if I seek You with all my heart, I will find You (Jeremiah 29:13). Now, I thank You that You are looking for me too. With Your tender love, so come and lead me from despair into hope, from anxiety into peace and from brokenness into wholeness. Amen.

437 Lord Jesus, If You Are Willing

Jesus Filled With Compassion

Lord Jesus, If you are willing
Lord Jesus, If you are willing

Daily Spirit & Word. 437:

“Lord Jesus, if You are willing, You can make me clean”

“I AM willing, Be clean” said Jesus.

Good morning my friends. What a wonderful day Tuesday was; busy but good. I preached on Sunday about helping those in any kind of need and said that sometimes when we do it, we try our best, but then it gets thrown back in our faces. That statement came true yesterday in the church, as the Foodbank Volunteers had just set up all the cups, tea, coffee and sugar, etc, all for the clients who come to the Foodbank in times of crisis. A woman came in early and because they were not ready yet, she threw a wobbly-fit, in anger and frustration she scattered the cups and everything that had been so loving set up on the floor. Then she stormed out in a huff leaving a trail of wreckage behind her. The Volunteers, at first in shock, immediately began to clear up the mess. Do you know my friends, that woman came back in to church after a few minutes, didn’t apologise, but was welcomed as if she hadn’t done anything and was counselled with love and respect by the volunteers.

Loving others is NOT easy, but there’s POWER in the Name of Jesus.
The Man With Leprosy Cleansed.

Mark 1:40-45
40 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”

Today in the Bible the focus is upon the Leper, but if we just take a look for a moment at the text in the context of the passage it comes from, we’ll see that Jesus had been praying and healing and driving out demons. He’d already had to move from village to village to preach because of the crowds. He said to his disciples something most modern Ministers would find quite strange I think. The disciples found Jesus at prayer and said; Mark 1:35-37 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”

Isn’t that awesome? “Jesus, Everyone is looking for you”. Most ministers today would be overjoyed if one day they woke up and found out that early in the morning, everybody was looking for them to be ministered to. But Jesus said something quite astounding, amazing and unusual, Mark 1:38-39 38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so that I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.”

Everyone is looking for you Jesus.
Les us go somewhere else to preach,
because that is why I have come.

NOW we know why Jesus told the man He’d just cleansed of Leprosy not to tell anyone about it (Mark 1:44). He knew that if the message got out, thousands more would come, they’d come from miles away, because in those days proper medical treatment was rare and many of the diseases were incurable, so in desperation the people would come, but why were they coming? They were coming to get healed, to have their needs met, but Jesus hadn’t come to be a HEALER he’d come to deliver a MESSAGE from His Father in Heaven to everyone; “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is a hand”… Yes Jesus could heal, but that was not His primary purpose in coming. Yes Jesus will heal today, but even today that’s NOT Jesus primary purpose for human beings. His primary purpose is the same today as it was back then, He came into the world to SAVE sinners.

After this account of the Leper’s cleansing, you’ll note in Mark’s Gospel that because of the man’s disobedience Jesus was thronged with people. He’d become a hindrance to Jesus primary task of Preaching the Kingdom, but notice what it was that moved Jesus to reach out and touch a Leper; “Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”

“Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”

1) Jesus was filled with COMPASSION: Jesus can feel your needs my friends. He’s the same today.
2) Jesus reached out and TOUCHED the un-touchable: It was unlawful to touch a Leper, but Jesus did it full of compassion. Can you imagine what that touch from the Saviour meant to the man, who’d probably never been touched by another human being for years? Here was the most pure person who’d ever lived, touching the unclean. My friends, no matter how un-clean you may feel in His presence today, Jesus wants to touch you too.
3) Jesus said, “I AM Willing”: He also is willing that your greatest needs be met too. Jesus is the SAME, He’s God and God does not change. He’s the SAME; “Yesterday, Today and Forever”. So He wants to meet your need.

Even though the Healing was not His primary purpose, He was so full of love, kindness and compassion that He just couldn’t walk past and not meet that man’s need. When you come to Jesus Christ and seek Him with all your heart and cry out to Him, He’s the SAME today.

Today, Jesus is in the world, through the Believers that are filled with His Holy Spirit, to SAVE sinners, that’s the PRIMARY purpose of the Church. That’s why Jesus called you and me to be SAVED and to be in His family, that’s why He’s left you here on earth, to bring as many people into the Kingdom as you can whilst there is still time. BUT, although that is Jesus Primary Purpose and Ours too, we are also filled with the LOVE of God when the Holy Spirit comes into our lives and we too will be filled with Jesus other attributes; Compassion, Kindness, LOVE etc… We’ll not walk past someone in need without doing something about it, just like Jesus.

That woman who came into the Foodbank was a hindrance to the work, but she was still met with real COMPASSION and I’m certain the POWER of God was present to meed her needs. We will find things difficult because of our compassion, just like Jesus ministry was hindered and He couldn’t Preach as He wanted to because the people were coming for different reasons other than an awareness of their need of Holiness and God’s grace and mercy, but we too will find His grace is sufficient for all our needs as we seek to serve Him in this world today.

Let’s get filled with Jesus Compassion: To help others.
Let’s get filled with Jesus: To touch other people’s lives for Him.
Let’s get filled with Jesus: So we can say as He did, “I AM WILLING”.

Have a wonderful Ash Wednesday my friends,
Come and join us tonight if you can.

436 It is NO SECRET what God can do for you.

It is NO SECRET what God can do for you.
It is NO SECRET what God can do for you.

No Secret

Daily Spirit & Word, 436: It is NO secret what God can do for you.

What He’s done for others, He’ll do for you.

Good morning my friends and oh what a beautiful morning it is; today I want to focus upon just one verse of the Bible, it was a command by the Lord Jesus given to a man whom He’d just healed, but the man completely disobeyed the Lord Jesus Christ. Who was he and why did he do it?

Mark 1:44 “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”

Well you need to know all about that man don’t you? He was a Leper. I don’t think there is any disease that’s more terrible than Leprosy for it cuts you off from everyone and everything that you hold dear in life. A Leper had to live away from other people and when they tried to enter a town, they had to wear a bell so other’s even blind people would know that a Leper was passing by. Nobody was allowed to touch a Leper, or they’d become unclean (possibly contaminated) and restricted too.

Can you imagine not being able to touch others, no kissing your wife, kids, grandchildren. No hugging your friends, no meals together, no time spent sitting around chatting with the family. People were afraid of Lepers; so they’d shout at them when they were near, “Unclean, Unclean, Unclean” and “Get away, get away”… What a dreadful life it must have been for them, year after year, feeling in fingers, toes and extremities going, not being able to feel even when you’ve hurt yourself.

This leper had been HEALED by our Loving Lord Jesus Christ. Can you now imagine what that must have been like for the Leper? He’d be instantly welcomed back into society right? NO my friends, the Leper first needed to have his healing confirmed by the Priests in order to be welcomed back into general public places again. For no one who’d been struck down with Leprosy had been healed. It’s NOT normal, it was a miracle.

But why did Jesus say to the man, “See that you don’t tell anyone about this healing”? If we keep reading the story the answer is there right in front of us. It was because Jesus knew that once news got out that there was a man in Israel who could heal, the un-healable, He’d be thronged by thousands, and He was. It made it almost impossible then for people to hear the message Jesus came to deliver, because all they were coming to him for was what they could get out of Him: HEALING. When people are desperate they’re soul focus is upon relieving the despair. They’ll nod their heads at anything to get what they want. Now Jesus mission from the Father was made much harder, because of the Leper’s disobedience.

He was not only healed from the disease, but told to go and get healed from his separation and welcome back into society by going to the authority who could sanction his welcome back, but the poor man just couldn’t contain his JOY at being set free and healed.

Would you have obeyed Jesus?

I know some people who’ve said, “When I win the lottery, I’m not going to tell anyone about it”… Hahahahah, but after they’ve won, they shout it from the rooftops; “I’ve WON, I’ve Won the Lottery”… Good News, Great News is very difficult for the human soul to contain, to keep to yourself.

You know something, when we hear the GREAT NEWS of the Healing of a Leper, it births HOPE in every single soul. When Jesus can do the impossible for someone else, hope tells us, “If He can do it for them, He can do it for me”… And that’s so true my friends, Jesus can do the impossible, He can heal what cannot be healed by human doctors. He can help and relieve and deliver what no other human being could ever do.

Something else, Jesus is the SAME Today. He can still HEAL. Jesus can STILL deliver you from darkness into the Light. I love the old song; “It is no secret what God can do for you, what He’s done for others, He’ll do for you”… (Words in full below). Here’s the story behind the song, please take time to read it, because I believe some MIRACLES are coming your way today. God’s going to do something marvellous in your life this morning my friends.

The Story of the SONG / Hymn: “It is NO secret what God can do”

When Stuart Hamblen quit drinking thanks to Billy Graham he began to lose favour with Hollywood. He was ultimately fired by the radio station when he refused to accept a beer company as a sponsor. Hard times were upon him. During his struggle, the famous Movie Star John Wayne took him aside and told him “all your troubles started when you ‘got religion'” and John asked if it was worth it all. Hamblen answered simply, “Yes”. Then he said, “You liked your booze so much. Don’t you ever miss it?” And the answer was, “No”. John then said, “I don’t understand how you could give it up so easily.’ And Hamblin response was, ‘It’s no big secret. All things are possible with God.’ To this John Wayne said, ‘That’s a catchy phrase. You should write a song about it.'” Stuart Hamblen did just that and wrote a song that’s been recorded by many famous people since: Elvis Presley, Jim Reeves,

Elvis Sings “It is no secret”
Jim Reeves “It is no secret”

My friends, it is NO SECRET what Jesus Christ can do for you.
What He’s done for others, He WILL do for you too.
Trust Jesus, come to Jesus, He won’t just heal your life’s problems, but He’ll take you all the way to Heaven too.
Jesus is full of LOVE and you can be too.
Come to Jesus and be renewed and refreshed today.
God bless and keep you today.
Gospel Song by Stuart Hamblen,
“It is no secret what God can do for you”
The chimes of time ring out the news,
Another day is through.
Someone slipped and fell.
Was that someone you?
You may have longed for added strength,
Your courage to renew.
Do not be disheartened,
For I have news for you.
It is no secret what God can do for you.
What He’s done for others, He’ll do for you.
With arms wide open, He’ll pardon you.
It is no secret what God can do.
There is no night for in His light
You never walk alone.
Always feel at home,
Wherever you may go.
There is no power can conquer you
While God is on your side.
Take Him at His promise,
Don’t run away and hide.
It is no secret what God can do.
What He’s done for others, He’ll do for you.
With arms wide open, He’ll pardon you.
It is no secret what God can do.
