Read Your Spiritual Bank Statement.

There are bounteous riches in store for you today.

Pentecostal Prayer Week: Day 1: Read Your Spiritual Bank Statement.

What a joy it is to PRAY in the Spirit, to the Father, through the Son.

Good morning my friends, today I’m going to show that we can come to our FATHER GOD and expect greater things from ourselves. There’s HIDDEN potential and power in you, because of who you are already as a follower of Jesus.

There was once a very wealthy Billionaire.

He was a Newspaper Publisher, William Randolph Hearst, who invested a fortune collecting art treasures from around the world. One day Mr. Hearst found a description of some valuable items that he felt he must own. He made a list and then sent his agent abroad to find them. After months of searching, the agent returned to Mr Hearst and reported that he had finally found the treasures. Mr Hearst was overjoyed. Then immediately shocked, because every single item was already in Mr. Hearst’s own warehouse. Hearst had been searching frantically for treasures he already owned! Had he read his own catalogue of his treasures, he would have saved himself a great deal of money and trouble.

Sometimes we’re a bit like Mr Hearst: We’re not completely aware of the TREASURES that are already ours, we’ve inherited them from our Heavenly Father God. They are already available to us, ready to be tapped into in faith.

To understand, all we need to do is Read Your Spiritual Bank Statements: then you’ll see what’s been deposited into your account.  I know some people who don’t know or understand these things, they’re like secrets to them. However it is possible that there are hidden treasures in your life, but because you’ve not fully understood what has already been deposited within you, you are not accessing them yet. All is about to change. Praise the LORD!

Like Paul’s commendation of the Saints in Ephesus, my church fellowship in St Luke’s are; full of love for God, full of faith and trust in Him, and full of love for the saints and sinners in our area. That’s so obvious whenever we gather together in Christ on Sunday’s, how we welcome strangers too, but there’s so much more that we’re NOT tapping into yet. Listen with your Spiritual Ears open as you read aloud these words again from Paul’s letter to the Ephesian Christians, I’m praying the LORD will give you eyes to see new delights are awaiting you in prayer.

Ephesians 1:15-23 (NIV)
15  For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
16  I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
17  I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
18  I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19  and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength,
20  which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
21  far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
22  And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,
23  which is his body, the fulness of him who fills everything in every way.

First, Paul is giving thanks to the LORD for their obvious faith and love: Having a sincere love for God is a miraculous wonder and we should always give thanks and praise when we see or observe that these are evident in the lives of brothers and sisters the Lord has given us. Paul was obviously overjoyed to discover their faith was still alive and kicking in his absence. However, he didn’t STOP at giving thanks for them, he prayed they’d have even MORE: Or become even more AWARE of the great treasures in store, that have already been deposited in their Spiritual Bank Account: Their Inheritance… It something they can use and invest NOW in building God’s Kingdom.

BUT: and it’s a significant BUT 🙂 He keeps asking for MORE… Yes my friends, there’s a great deal MORE in your Spiritual Bank Account than you are probably aware of.

Ephesians 1:17.

  • – The Spirit of Wisdom.
  • – The Spirit of Revelation.

Both of these are so that we can KNOW GOD BETTER.

Too many of us think we know enough about God, but there’s always more to discover, we’ll never know everything about Father God until we meet Him face to face, then we’ll know Him fully, but in the meantime we’re limited to what He chooses to reveal to us; through His word, through the Spirit and through our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of how Paul knew the LORD, he wants EVERY believer in Jesus to KNOW what’s already available in their account, i.e. what IS available to them. That’s what Paul keeps asking, that they’ll KNOW just how much is available in their walk with Jesus. How we all NEED a much deeper knowledge of God our Heavenly Father.

Then there’s the ENLIGHTENMENT: Our text tells us what the ‘ENLIGHTENMENT’ is for, so that you may KNOW;

– KNOW THE HOPE to which He has called you.

– KNOW THE RICHES OF HIS GLORIOUS INHERITANCE in the saints.

– KNOW HIS INCOMPARABLY GREAT POWER.

Enlightenment: Is what happens to a person who once lived in darkness and is brought out into the light. Like a person who spends all their time in a dark cave, they are blinded by the bright light of the sun and have to hide their eyes. So when we come to Christ we are brought from DARKNESS into the LIGHT. We see things very differently now that we know Jesus: This great HOPE to which He has called you. When you gave into Jesus and trusted Him for Salvation, you were just responding to His call. Then He filled your heart with the HOPE of Heaven. Fear has gone from your life now that you are in Jesus. Praise the LORD!

When we KNOW the HOPE: Then the way we LIVE is going to be different. We’re NOT going to be afraid in difficult situations. Hope shines in our hearts.

It’s not enough just to have a great faith and trust in Jesus or to be full of a love for the saints, because there’s so much MORE in your own spiritual inheritance. It’s already available to you. Be daring today, tap into these hidden resources at your disposal and bring Glory to your Heavenly Father. Amen!

Check The HIDDEN TREASURE: in your heart.

So my friends, Check out your Spiritual Bank Account: Have a look at it in great detail today: KNOW the Spirit of Wisdom, the Spirit of Revelation, the HOPE, the RICHES and the GREAT POWER. When we begin to tap into these Spiritual resources, God is going to be even more glorified by the way we live our lives for Him.

We’ll be more like Jesus and as we’re praying for the Evangelisation of the Nation: Many more people will see for themselves, the evidence of a transformed life. In Jesus you are being made NEW every day.

PRAY: That Christians all over the world, every Christian you know, will move onto and into an even greater understanding and knowledge of ALL that they have inherited when they trusted in Jesus Christ.

Be blessed today, overflowing with Holy Spirit, let His LOVE leak out to everyone around you. Share your HOPE in Jesus with a few people today.

Don.

Remember: I’m Praying for you too: But please PRAY for me.

I’m praying for you;

1) That the LORD will give you a wake-up-call. Every day! And you’ll want to respond.

2) That you’ll experience NOURISHMENT when you get up, read your Bible, Pray and Praise the LORD (every day).

3) That you’ll DESIRE to have times of fellowship with other brothers and sisters. Spending time together in Jesus company.

4) That you’ll GET PERSONAL REVELATION when you pray and read God’s Word.

5) That you’ll SHARE your experiences with at least FIVE other people during the week.

6) That you’ll EXPERIENCE soul satisfaction and encouragement in your life every day with Jesus.

7) That you’ll get the JOY of the LORD: He’ll put an NEW SONG in your heart. (Psalm 40:3)

8) That you’ll begin to SHINE like Moses because you’ve been in the presence of Jesus. Your GLORY GLOW.

9) That you’ll ENJOY seeking His FACE rather than His Hand. It’s so tempting to ask God just to do stuff for us, but what about seeking His FACE and His Glory, so that we can SERVE Him better instead.

10) That you’ll be able to WORSHIP in song and ENJOY extended periods of reflection throughout your days during prayer week.

– Pray for our Baptism Candidates: Pray that the LORD will prepare their hearts to be His people, the sheep of His pasture.

– Pray for Discipleship / Evangelism / Personal Growth of Followers of Jesus.

– Pray for Evangelisation of our Nation: That there would be a NATIONAL Revival. Holy Spirit come in POWER on our land.

– Pray for the Renewal and Fire of Holy Spirit for ALL Christians.

The Condition of The Un-Saved

Compassion Compels the Believer to Share the Good News of Jesus Christ

Daily Spirit & Word: 608: The Condition of The Unsaved.

Good morning my friends, there’s a reason the Lord Jesus told His followers to be “GENTLE”… There’s a reason why Jesus had “COMPASSION”…

If you observed a person in a wheelchair at the bottom of the stairs on the London Underground would you leave him to struggle to the top of the stairs on his own? Just take a moment to imagine that scene. Many of London’s Underground Stations don’t have lifts and I’ve seen people struggling many times; mothers with prams and babies, old people with really heavy suitcases, etc… Now, if you saw a crippled person in a wheelchair and they couldn’t get up the stairs, what would you do? You’d obviously have compassion on them, you’d try and get a few others, complete strangers, to help you get the man to the top. It’s unlikely today you’d find a member of the Underground Staff to help. It’s up to you! You can either respond or leave them there to wait. What would you do?

Now: Think of the Condition of the UnSAVED Person. They can’t see, they are blind, they don’t know the way to Heaven, they can’t get up there by themselves and even if they could, they would NOT be allowed in.

What would you do if you saw a poor, blind and ignorant un-SAVED person?

Well, if God’s Holy Spirit is in you, then He would fill you with the same COMPASSION that Jesus had for the lost. Your whole inward desire will be the same as God’s; to lead that person from darkness into the light, from blindness to sight, from Ignorance to the Knowledge of Salvation.

The Unsaved Person:

  • Doesn’t know that he needs Jesus’ love, death and sacrifice.
  • Doesn’t know that he is heading towards the judgement and eternal damnation.

It would be foolish to say to that person: “Jesus loves you and died for you.” Why is that a foolish thing to say? Because the unsaved person is not aware that he was in any danger or that he needed someone to give their life for him. It’s complete foolishness that a person would give their life for them, because, as far as they are aware, they didn’t need to do it for them.

Surely common sense and real compassion would move you to let the person see their predicament first, then offer them the solution so they could grab-hold and never let go.

The Unsaved Person:

  • Doesn’t know that he is headed for Hell.

So you can’t just say: “Repent or you are going to burn in Hell forever“. That’s just as bad as saying Jesus died for you because He loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. They’ve got their own plans and they are enjoying living their life in ignorance. It’s foolishness to the unsaved person. They don’t know that they’ve done anything wrong, enough that deserves being punished in Hell forever.

The Condition of The Unsaved Person:

Is Blinded by Satan: 2 Corinthians 4:4.

Is Walking in Darkness: John 1:5, Isaiah 9:2. Matthew 4:16-17.

Is Ignorant of their Sin disease: Romans 10, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23.

Is Convinced that he’s a good person. Proverbs 20:6.

Is Unaware that he needs a Saviour: Romans 10:14-15.

Is Convinced that if there is a God, He’ll be loving and will let everyone into Heaven anyway. John 3:17-ff

Is Headed for Hell and is NOT aware of the reasons why: They’ve broken God’s Holy Law, revealed in the Commandments, they are sinners in need of forgiveness, deliverance, cleansing and the power of Heaven in their souls.

So if you’d help a crippled person get up the stairs on the London Underground, then surely you’d have the human decency to help a poor unsaved soul find Salvation from certain judgement and eternal damnation? If they are headed for Hell as the Bible reveals, and that God will JUDGE everyone, surely, we who know the answer to their predicament won’t keep quiet. Compassion compels us to reach out and SAVE.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (NLT) “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”

Matthew 4:16-17 “the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” 17  From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

Isaiah 9:2 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

Proverbs 20:6 (NKJV) “Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man?”

Romans 10:14-15 (NKJV) How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15  And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

HOW CAN THEY SEE? HOW CAN THEY HEAR?

My friends, the Unsaved are in a terrible plight, their eternal welfare is hanging in the balance. An old preacher said, “They are dangling over the fires of hell by nothing by a thread and the thread is already on fire and will break any moment, then they will fall, fall headlong into the pit of Hell” Unless someone reaches out to grab hold of them and save them. That’s YOU! That’s ME! We KNOW the truth, we’ve been brought from darkness into the light for a reason. The Lord has opened up our eyes so that we can see. Let’s have the same compassion as Jesus did and reach out and save as many as we can.

When we observe the dire condition of the unsaved person, then Divine, Holy Compassion will compel us to reach out and save those poor, blinded and lost souls. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost.

YBH: Yes! But HOW?

There’s a simple way, it’s the Way of The Master: The Lord Jesus Christ. He let people see and know that they needed a Saviour first, then told them to trust in Him. Yes Jesus did love people, we should too, Yes Jesus did heal people, we should too, but Jesus also warned the people, He was so full of LOVE that He couldn’t leave them in ignorance of their sinful condition and the eternal consequences if they refused to repent. The woman caught in the act of adultery: “Neither do I condemn you, but leave your life of sin”….”Repent, for the Kingdom of God is close at hand”. “Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish”… Yes Jesus is LOVE, but He’s also JUST. God will punish sinners, we’ve got a job to do to try and help those poor blinded souls, see the Salvation that’s on offer from Heaven today.

So my friends, be gentle with the blinded people, love them, guide them, show them the way of Salvation and enlighten them about their predicament unless they turn and grab hold of the heavenly arm that’s reaching out to save them.

Have a fantastic weekend, may the LORD enable you to have gentle compassion on everyone who doesn’t know HIM as Lord or Saviour.

Don.

Going Out in a ‘Blaise’ of Glory.

Maths, Science, History, Blaise Pascal,

Daily Spirit & Word 556:

Going Out In A Blaise of Glory.

“Surely the Enlightenment Is Darkness”
Good morning my friends, no I’ve NOT made a spelling mistake in the Title today 🙂 I’m paying tribute to one of our greatest Christian and Evangelical heroes of the faith, the Frenchman Blaise Pascal.
Jude 1:3  “Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.”
His most famous statement, more powerful today than even when he argued against the Enlightenment.
“The heart has its reasons, which reason does not know at all.”
“The heart has its reasons, which reason does not know at all.”
Blaise Pascal was a Scientist and Philosopher, but found that the arguments of his time against Christianity very weak indeed, because they provided no answer or certainty in life, they didn’t provide concrete answers to life’s biggest questions.

The Problem With REASON:

The Enlightenment Slogan: “Who needs God? Man can make it on his own.”

So claimed Reason, the philosophy that captured the imagination of seventeenth-century France (spreading across Europe to Scotland and England). Its champions, Voltaire and Descartes, among others, tried to fashion a worldview ruled completely by REASON.French mathematician and physicist Blaise Pascal, though raised in the heyday of Enlightenment thought, found reason inadequate: “Reason’s last step is the recognition that there are an infinite number of things which are beyond it.” He concluded, “The heart has its reasons, which reason does not know at all”— a statement that soon became the chief critique of rationalism and the starting point for a defence of the Christian faith that is still a powerful and persuasive influence upon many people today.
Blaise Pascal’s History:
Pascal’s mother died when he was a little three year old boy, and his father moved the family from Clermont-Ferrand, France, to Paris, where he homeschooled Blaise and his sister. By age 10, Pascal was doing original experiments in mathematics and physical science. To help his father, who was a tax collector, he invented the first calculating device (some call it the first “computer”). A very clever boy 🙂
Other Worldly Achievements in Blaise Pascal’s Life:
With this last invention, he had made a name for himself (at age 19!) and began his richly diverse scientific career.
  • He tested the theories of Galileo and Torricelli (who discovered the principles of the barometer), culminating in his famous law of hydraulics, which states that pressure on the surface of a fluid is transmitted equally to every point in a fluid.
  • He added important papers on the vacuum, on the weight and density of air, and the arithmetic triangle.
  • He developed the theory of probability, which is still used today.
  • He invented the syringe, the hydraulic lift, and is credited with inventing the wristwatch and mapping out the first bus route in Paris.
  • It is said Pascal was embarrassed by his multiple talents.
His Christian Conversion: (His Night of FIRE).
All the while, Pascal was exploring the spiritual world, which was undergoing a revolution across Europe.

While pietism flourished in Germany, and Wesleyan holiness spread through England, Catholic France was feeling the effects of Jansenism—a form of Augustinianism that taught predestination and divine grace, rather than good works, as vital for salvation.In 1646 Pascal came in contact with Jansenism and introduced it to his sister, Jacqueline, who eventually entered the convent of Port-Royal, a center of Jansenism. Pascal, however, continued to struggle spiritually: he wrestled with the dichotomy between the world and God.Then on November 23, 1654, Pascal experienced a “definitive conversion” during a vision of the crucifixion: he writes;

“From about half-past ten in the evening until about half-past twelve … FIRE, FIRE, FIRE … God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, and not of the philosophers and savants. Certitude. Certitude. Feeling. Joy. Peace.”

He recorded the experience (called the “Mé;morial”) on a piece of parchment, which he carried with him for the rest of his life, he sewed inside his coat. He began a life-long association with Port-Royal—though he, unlike his sister, never became a “solitaire.”

Pascal had an enduring: “Passion for Christ”

His greatest works are not only masterpieces of French prose, but sterling defenses of the Christian faith.Les Provinciales, 18 essays regarded as brilliant irony and satire, attacked the Jesuits and defended Jansenists’ demand for a return to morality and Augustine’s belief in divine grace. The Catholic church placed Les Provinciales on the Index, condemning it but failing to quell the controversy it stirred.
Pensé;es, is a collection of Pascal’s “thoughts” Which he intended to present as a Christian apology, it was published after his death. In it, he portrayed humankind as suspended between wretchedness and happiness, and helpless without God. People try to avoid the abyss (Hell) by engaging in distractions. Pascal denounced the idea that REASON and SCIENCE alone can lead a person to God. Only by experiencing Christ can people know God.
“ONLY BY EXPERIENCING CHRIST CAN PEOPLE KNOW GOD”
Belief comes through the “heart,” which for Pascal was not merely feelings and sentiment, but the intuition that understands without having to use reason. And God’s grace makes it happen: “Do not be surprised at the sight of simple people who believe without argument. God makes them love him and hate themselves. He inclines their hearts to believe. We shall never believe with a vigorous and unquestioning faith unless God touches our hearts; and we shall believe as soon as he does so.”In the Pensé;es, Pascal also presents his famous argument for faith: “the wager”.
Since reason cannot give one absolute certainty, he argued, every person must risk belief in something. When it comes to the Christian faith, he said, a wise person will gamble on it because, “If you win, you win everything; if you lose, you lose nothing.”
I loved that amazing statement: “If you win, you win everything; if you lose, you lose nothing.”

Voltaire and other scholars denounced Pascal as a cheerless fanatic. Cheerless or not, he did live most of his life with a frail body, and his many illnesses finally took their toll at age 39. However, it could be argued that Blaise Pascal left this earth like Elijah, “In a Blaise of Glory”.

Fire, Fire, Fire:
Although he only lived for a short time here on Earth, Blaise Pascal delivered a canon ball blow, below the waterline of the great ship called The Enlightenment.
Contend for the FAITH:
Jude 1:3  “Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.”
Surely, the Enlightenment IS Darkness.
I wonder who’s going to be our next Heroes of the Christian Faith?
Have an Awesome Day With Jesus,
Don.
“If you win, you win everything; if you lose, you lose nothing.”

Revelation Vs Reason:
