All About That Bass, No Treble

call down fire from Heaven

Daily Spirit & Word: 802: Bless Those Who Curse You.

LOVE YOUR ENEMIES.

Do Good to Those Who Hate You.

Speak Gently To Your Children.

Good morning friends, I love having my grandchildren over, because they are full of life and song. Sometimes, it’s good to see them go again, because they are SOOOO FULL OF LIFE! Exhausting ūüôā However, they just love singing songs and dancing. I’ll get my Kingdom Speaker out (a little bluetooth speaker that I use for worship when I do home visits or in small group worship). One song they love dancing to is “All About That Bass, No Treble”. by Meghan Trainor. That song on YouTube has over 1,500,000,000 hits. No kidding, 1500 Million hits and rising. It’s a song about prejudice and attitudes towards people of different sizes.

The LORD Just gave me: “It’s ALL about my PEACE, No TROUBLE”.

“It’s All About My PEACE, No TROUBLE”

We worry about all kinds of things in life, and sometimes we get a zeal for them.

  • Some people hate eating meat and get so zealous they want everybody to become vegetarians. However, I love Bacon, Lamb and sometimes Beef. ūüôā¬†
  • Some people get a zeal for different size people and put people down if they are not the same; size, colour, shape as they are. So many are nervous to even go outside, because they think people are looking at them.¬†
  • Some people get a zeal that’s just wrong.

My friends, we’ve got to check our ZEAL to know if we’re operating in a different kind of Spirit than that of the Holy Spirit. ¬†On Sunday we heard all about James and John wanting positions on the left and right of Jesus, today, here they are wanting to call down fire from Heaven to consume some Samaritans, just because they turned them away from their Village.

Luke 9:51-56 (NKJV)
51  Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,
52  and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him.
53  But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem.
54 ¬†And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”
55 ¬†But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.
56 ¬†For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.

Now we all know, I think, that the Samaritans and Jews in Jesus time, didn’t mix or associate with one another. It’s a bit like Catholics and Protestants wouldn’t mix or associate with each other in Scotland when I was a kid. For very similar reasons, they had a different theology. So the Disciples had a natural dislike for Samaritans, an¬†inbred prejudice against them. Today we’d call it¬†Racism or Sectarianism.¬†¬†So when those Samaritans didn’t do something the Disciples (Jews) wanted them to do, that inbred hatred rose quickly to the surface, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” They felt justified in reacting in such a spiteful way.

This request was met with an equally immediate rebuke from Jesus lips, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of” or What kind of spirit you are operating out of.

You see my friends, Jesus Christ did not come to destroy men, but to save them. This is awesome, because Jesus is putting into practice his own teaching from Sermon on the Mount. Where he told his followers very clearly; “Love your enemies, do good to those that hate you, bless those who curse you”…

Call fire down from Heaven? No my friends, that was a ZEAL too far.

They were getting too zealous. They were not thinking about Jesus, but that natural hatred for Samaritans, that’s what was driving their zeal.

My friends, if people don’t accept you, or even reject you, or even resent your presence, then don’t let your natural dislikes dictate your responses to them. Instead, bless them. I’m serious, it’s amazing what can happen when you actually respond in gentle ways. Bless those who curse you.

In Proverbs¬†God reveals and tells us this awesome truth: “A gentle answer turns away wrath”… I’ve seen this TRUTH of God’s Word in action my friends, many times.

Proverbs 15:1 (NIV) “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Now, we don’t know what would have happened if the Disciples had said to those Samaritans “OK, so you don’t want us in your village, well may the LORD of Heaven richly bless you in every way. Have a good evening my friends”… Imagine, if they’d learned Jesus’ lesson on the Mount?

We know that rejection hurts, but as Jesus’ followers we can turn even rejection into an opportunity to BLESS PEOPLE. That’s the Spirit we should endeavour to operate in. That’s What God would do an does do. He did not reject you did He? He didn’t turn away from you, just because you’d sinned. No instead, God blessed you and me, by sending His Son Jesus Christ into this world to SAVE sinners.

Endeavour Means:

Noun: endeavour
1. A purposeful or industrious undertaking (especially one that requires effort or boldness)
2. Earnest and conscientious activity intended to do or accomplish something

Verb: endeavour
1. Attempt by employing effort

What a wonderful world we could see if we put as much ZEAL into our reactions as Jesus demonstrated to His followers that day.

Listen again to Jesus response to them that day;

Luke 9:55-56.
55 ¬†But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.
56 ¬†For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.

Now they are heading off to another village having been rebuked. It could have been so different. They could be skipping along to the next village full of joy with the Lord, if only they’d learned Jesus’ lessons from the Sermon on the Mount.

So my friends, when you are getting a bit angry, annoyed, upset with people; let’s just slow down, listen carefully to the Holy Spirit, because He wants to guide you. And check your motives and your feelings and your prejudices, before you react, before you speak, before you respond.

The Apostle James learned that lesson well from Jesus that day, because later on he wrote;

James 1:19 (NIV)¬†“My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,”

i.e. SLOW DOWN: Don’t get all het-up, don’t get heated too quickly.

How many times have you said something hurtful in response to someone, only to regret it later? I know I have, many times, but the LORD is teaching me again today; “Donald, you must slow down, don’t speak too quickly, don’t respond in anger or haste. Don’t listen to your prejudices or petty hates or dislikes. These are real people who NEED the LOVE of God in their lives. Jesus didn’t come to destroy, but to SAVE” Amen!

This just came to me:

A moment on the lips,
A lifetime on the hips.¬† ūüôā¬†

It’s the SAME with our WORDS: “A word¬†from the lips, a lifetime on someone’s heart”

“A word from our lips, a lifetime on someone’s heart”

It’s half-term, the kids are off school, mums and dads, be patient with them. Love them! Speak GENTLE words to your kids, they won’t be kids for long. They’ll soon be off into the world. How you love them now will be carried into their adult lives. BE SLOW to become angry with everyone.

Have an awesome day with Jesus, grow in your knowledge and love of the Saviour.

Worship Him now, then go out on your mission in the world, to show His love. Amen!

Don.

Enter Like A Little Child

The Kingdom of Heaven is God's place, to get in, you must become like a little child.

Daily Spirit & Word: 788:

Enter Like A Little Child.

The Way Into God’s Kingdom.

“No BIG People Allowed”

Good morning my friends, yesterday we had an awesome day. In the morning on the way to worship I bumped into two men. They initiated the conversation after I said, “Good morning”. They had so many questions about faith, God, Jesus, Christians and life. It was inconvenient, so I knew it was a God MOMENT… Instead of rushing ahead to get things ready for our gathering, I stood and took some time with them, answering as many as I could, but listening to the Holy Spirit. I ended up by saying, “If God is real, and heaven is real, will you be spending eternity with Him or with the Devil?” They both said, “Well, we’re good people, so if God is good, then He’ll let us in”… That’s what the MAJORITY of people in the world believe. It’s like this is the de-facto-faith of the whole world today. They only live next door to me, so I’ll be fixing a time when we can meet for a coffee and a chat. They enjoyed our conversation so much, they readily agreed to meed. Please pray!

Also, below is the message I proclaimed in church yesterday morning. Be blessed and please let me know how it impacts you today?

ENTER LIKE A LITTLE CHILD.

We noticed at some theme parks like Lego-Land there are little height bars; a lower one and sometimes a higher one.

  • The Lowest Bar: Determines the smallest person. (For safety reasons, people smaller than the bar can’t go on the ride).
  • The Highest Bar: Determines the tallest person. (For who knows what reasons, big people can’t go on these rides) ūüôā

What they are really saying is “No BIG People Allowed”… Some of those rides looked really cool too. I was wishing I was a little kid again. Those rides that I couldn’t go on always looked the most exciting.¬† ūüôā

Today we’re going to see that’s exactly what Jesus was saying about the entry requirements for the Kingdom of Heaven.

i.e. “To get into the Kingdom of Heaven you must become like a little child”…

Remember, two weeks ago, we talked about the Disciples and how they were ARGUING about who was the greatest in their group. They were jostling for position, but Jesus turned that notion on it’s head and said, “If you want to be great in God’s Kingdom, you must become the SERVANT of all”…

So, did the Disciples LEARN their lesson from Jesus? “NO!” They didn’t get it, because they’re at it again.

Let’s read God’s Word together now:

Mark 10:13-16 (NIV)
13 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.
14 ¬†When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
15 ¬†I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
16  And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

Let’s take a quick look at our reading from God’s Word:

1) The Disciples: Rebuking the People: What for? “They wanted Jesus to “TOUCH” their children”…

Why is it so important to get a TOUCH for these Parents (from Jesus upon their children)?

It was typical for Jewish mother’s and fathers to have their child blessed regularly by a famous Rabbi.¬†If a Rabbi visited, they’d flock to him and ask him to bless their kids.

My friends, if we’re going to see and hear anything about this passage today, then let it be THIS: Jesus was the kind of person who LOVED to have time for the little children: It casts one of the Brightest LIGHTS upon our Lord Jesus Christ, and the kind of person He was:

  • He wasn’t gloomy (though He knew he was facing the Cross and Death).
  • He wansn’t too serious all the time; because children wanted to come to Jesus.
  • He was the kind of man who had time for children (everyone) was welcome into Jesus arms.

No wonder those mums and dads couldn’t wait for Jesus to TOUCH their kids.

In similar ways, we can draw close to Jesus and have Him touch our lives today. Not physically, but none-the-less, just as real a touch from Heaven.

BUT: THE DISCIPLES (instead of welcoming the children) REBUKED THE PARENTS.

Our passage tells us: “When Jesus saw it, He became INDIGNANT”…

See this my friends;

  • The Disciples told the Parents off:
  • The LORD told His Disciples off:

When we’re getting things wrong in this Christian life: Jesus will also tell us off. (The LORD Disciplines EVERYONE He accepts as a child).

What was it the Disciples were doing that was so wrong? So wrong that they got told off publicly by Jesus?

FUNDAMENTALS: When we get something fundamental, foundational, critical to our FAITH and Belief wrong: God’s going to bring in His rod of correction.

Samson: Got his hair cut off, His eyes poked out, His ankles chained and He had to grind the wheat for God’s enemies. (Samson didn’t LISTEN to God’s warnings). He was being led astray by his flesh (Read Proverbs 7, it could have been written for Samson). When we’re being driven by our fleshly desires, we’re headed for trouble like a fool who can’t see the danger ahead.

When we get the fundamentals wrong; we’re ready for Discipline from the LORD:

CHILDREN:

So often in Church we get it so WRONG: i.e. We wait for little George, Jenny or Mark to become an adult to accept Jesus and come into God’s Kingdom.

Jesus is turning that notion on it’s head today my friends, he’s saying to you and me; “Unless you become like a child Donald, you can’t get into My Kingdom of Heaven: You must RECEIVE the Kingdom like a child receives something awesome”

GIVE IT A TRY: I’ve been leading people to Jesus for years. I’ll never forget the time a man came to Jesus. He was so proud. He said, “I’ll give Jesus a go for a couple of hours, if it doesn’t work, I’ll go back to my old life”… Thankfully, it did work, Jesus came into that man’s life and BROKE his proud heart. He wept all night long, he was crying, asking for forgiveness, repenting. Jesus came into his proud heart and showed him what he was like. In the morning, he was like a new man; a babe in Christ. He ran up to us, to me and Ronnie Chew and said, “He’s real, it works, He came”… You know, when I walked away from that man, I didn’t think he’d ever come into Jesus Kingdom Family… I thought to myself, but didn’t say it out loud; “Give Jesus a try for a couple of hours, you’ll never follow Jesus”… How wrong I was. But Jesus came and broke his proud heart…

So often, many people approach Christianity like that today: “Oh I’ll give it a go” or “I try it and see”… “I’m exploring my options”…¬†

What they’re really doing is putting God to the test:

  • To see if God works for them.
  • To see if God improves their life down here on the Earth.
  • To see if God is real, before they’re ready to fully commit.

They’re not really coming to Jesus because they see their NEED to be; forgiven, cleansed or renewed: They’re coming to give the Christian RELIGION a shot, as they would any other religion.

However, Christianity is NOT a Religion: It’s FUNDAMENTALLY A RELATIONSHIP:

“Christianity is NOT a Religion: It’s FUNDAMENTALLY A RELATIONSHIP With God”

To enter that relationship, Jesus said, “We must become like children and RECEIVE the Kingdom like a child does”… i.e. You can’t try on the Kingdom of Heaven: If you do, then you’ll soon shake it off again… (Because when you come to Jesus you are then going to experience the 3Ts; Trials, Tribulations and Temptations. Yes! Jesus tests our faith / commitment / decision, to see if we’re genuine Disciples). So we must come like a child to Jesus. You’ll note that a child, when things get tough in the family, won’t cling to those hurts, they move on quickly, because they know their place in the family. So a genuine Christian, who’s trusted Jesus like a child, won’t leave God’s family when things get tough.

What is a CHILD LIKE:

We’ll see now what we must become like to enter into God’s Kingdom.

When you give a child a present: Their eyes light up, “A present? for me? Oh WOWzer”

When you observe children:

  • You’ll Notice A Child is TRUSTING: Children, normally, are too young and innocent to be suspicious of people: That’s why they’ll walk up to a complete stranger and start chatting away. ¬†There’s no thought in a child yet, to think they’ll be rejected by anyone. They’re not cynical; they’re trusting.
  • You’ll Notice A Child is OPEN: They don’t doubt anything. I’ve told hundreds of made-up stories to my children and grand-children over the years. They believe every single one. Only one child, Leila, says, “Granny, Papa tells stories doesn’t he”… LOL. Most children are OPEN to new ideas, they don’t doubt your word, they accept, because you are an adult, that you KNOW… A Child is OPEN (A Child Believes)… Are you open, do you believe in Jesus? Are you OPEN to the idea of New Life, Abundant Life, Full Life, Eternal Life, Holy Life, Cleansed Life, Forgiveness, Gifts of Holy Spirit?.. or have you begun to DOUBT? (If there is any aspect of Jesus teaching that you don’t or will not accept, then you are not open, you are CLOSED… then my friend, become OPEN like a child.)
  • You’ll Notice A Child Feels SHAME: When a child gets caught doing something, they’re readily admit it (sometimes after coaxing), when they admit it, they feel ashamed. It’s humbling when a child gets a RED FACE (It reminds me, Don you should be RED FACED about that; Ashamed). I know some people who are into SIN in their lives so much, that they FEEL NO SHAME about it. They are Brazen (Like the immoral woman in¬†Proverbs¬†7). My friends, we need to get a conviction again about SIN in our lives. And FEEL the SHAME just like a child does. I don’t think you can ever really come to a true faith in Jesus until you’ve felt the shame of all your sins. Until you know your need of His forgiveness and cleansing from sin.
  • You’ll Notice A Child Receives Presents with JOY: They don’t think they deserve it, they know they don’t need to earn it, they know it’s theirs, they just accept it as it is FREELY GIVEN. My friends, you’ll never be able to earn or deserve God’s Kingdom: you must¬†RECEIVE¬†it like a child does a present.
  • You’ll Notice A Child is WILLING to RISK EVERYTHING: My son Joe, when he was a toddler, jumped into my arms (he nearly gave me a heart-attack at times). My grandchildren do the same: They’ll launch¬†themselves¬†off things and shout “Catch me Papa”…

Catch Me Papa: My friends, are you ready to RISK your EVERYTHING to Jesus Christ today? Will you Jump as a child would into the arms of the Saviour?

My friends, you can’t get into Jesus’ Kingdom of Heaven: Until: You TRUST HIM, You are OPEN with Him, You are ashamed of your life without Him and You are READY and WILLING to RISK EVERYTHING to Jesus. (That’s what it means to be child-like).

Some people mis-interpret this teaching of Jesus: They’ll say, “A child is innocent, so we must become innocent like little children”… No my friends, we can’t EVER become innocent like children, because we’ve all sinned, we can’t make ourselves good, that’s why Jesus came, to make us good and fit for Heaven. So it must mean what I’ve just been saying;

¬†I’m going to tell you today; HOW to become like little Children to Enter into Heaven:

To do that my friends, you NEED to become like a little child to RECEIVE the Kingdom of Heaven.

Are you ready to come to Jesus Christ today?

  • Will you TRUST Him: He’ll welcome you. Be Trusting Jesus.
  • Will you be OPEN to Jesus: Believe Jesus’ teachings, Believe in Jesus life and death? BE OPEN to Jesus.
  • Will you come REPENTING? Be sorry and ashamed of your sinful choices in life.
  • Will you RECEIVE? Receive the KINGDOM without trying to earn it by your good works, religious devotion or something else. Salvation cannot be purchased or won by merit, because we’ll never achieve perfection. So we must receive it as it is offered to a child; FREELY.
  • Will you RISK EVERYTHING: TO the Lord Jesus Christ. Throw yourself into the arms of Jesus today.

My friends, thousands will testify, that

  • Jesus has CAUGHT them in His loving arms.
  • Jesus forgives all their SINS (They’ve experienced the cleansing of His blood).
  • He’s revealed the TRUTH: His Word is Truth: You’ll soon see that Jesus’ promises are ALL TRUE:
  • They’ve EXPERIENCED: The JOY of the Kingdom.
  • He’s TRUSTWORTHY: They’ve discovered that Jesus can be trusted with everything in their lives.

I visited Eleanor (An old church member), I took Holy Communion to her, we prayed, chatted; She’s been ill for a few weeks now; She said to me “God is so good and faithful to me, I don’t deserve it, but He’s looked after me so well”…

We sang the song; “Great is Thy Faithfulness, O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with Thee, ALL I have needed Thy hand hath provided, Great is Thy Faithfulness, LORD unto me”…

When Eleanor and I sang that song, HEAVEN came into her house. It was such an AWESOME moment. The presence of the LORD was with us.

My friends, until you’ve become like a Child, you are NOT in the Kingdom of Heaven:

I’ll repeat the LORD Jesus’ words again;

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

¬†I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

Childlike FAITH:

Childlike Faith: They trust, they believe, they accept, the feel shame, they are willing to risk everything to jump into the everlasting arms of Jesus.

Will you RECEIVE the Kingdom of God like a little child?

  • Repent, of ALL SIN.
  • Believe, ALL of Jesus’ teachings and what He did on the Cross for your SINS.
  • Receive, The Lord Jesus Christ as your LORD, SAVIOUR, MASTER, FRIEND, KING…

(NOTE: No BIG People Allowed: We must get low, humble, on our knees to get into God’s Kingdom).¬†Receive¬†it as a child would a gift freely offered.

PRAYER: O LORD, My Heavenly Father! I can see that to be able to enter into Your Kingdom, I must receive it like a little child. Please Lord Jesus, give me the faith of a little child, who trusts without questioning, who simply and gladly believes in You and runs into your arms to be blessed. Help me to come to You today Lord Jesus Christ. There are so many things in my life that I know have been wrong, I’m embarrassed about them Lord, I turn from all those things I know to be sinful. I’m filled with awe and amazement that You would choose to die in my place upon the Cross. I’m turning to You today Lord Jesus. Come into my life and be my Lord, my Saviour, my King. I want to be with You forever in Your Kingdom Family. Amen!

My friends, I want to see every single one of you in God’s Kingdom: So, become like¬†children¬†today.

Amen!

Don.

You Are Wonderfully Made By God

When God made you, He didn't make a mistake, you are beautiful to God

Daily Spirit & Word: 763:

You Are Wonderfully Made by God.

PART 3:

Psalm 139:13-18

You might find this hard to believe my friends, but it’s true; YOU ARE WONDERFUL. Don’t let anybody tell you any differently, don’t even think about changing the way you’ve been made, because God likes you just the way He made you. In fact He loves you just as you are. Nothing you could do could ever stop God loving you.

Psalm 139:13-18 (NIV)
13 ¬†For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16  your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
17  How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
18  Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

God Made YOU Wonderfully‚ÄĒYou Can’t Ignore Him (vv. 13-18)

These are the most wonderful words ever written about the miracle of human conception, pregnancy and birth.

When a little baby is being formed, we don’t think too much about how big it is, but when you see the most modern 3D scans, you simply marvel. One of the ladies in our church came back and showed me the picture of the baby in her womb, I didn’t look at the picture too much, but I saw the look on her face “MARVEL and JOY”…

In this Psalm King David revealed something AWESOME: God’s not just watching us being formed in the womb, He’s the ONE who’s doing the knitting together. Think about that, God made Adam and Eve right? But He has never stopped at Adam and Eve, He’s continuing to MAKE (Form, Weave, Knit) every single creature on the Earth even today. It’s God who’s doing all the knitting together.

  1. YOU ARE MADE BY GOD:

“You knit me together in my mother’s womb”.

Did you know that?

You are knitted by the LORD (The Word “Knitted” in this Psalm is also translated as “Woven” in other parts of the Bible).

When something is woven, when you weave something, it takes time, care, dedication and skill. No wonder King David said “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” He must have been thinking about his own hands, his own articulation, the way he can move his fingers, hands, feet, head, eyes, tongue. How he can see, smell, taste, touch and hear. How he can think, know and understand this world. When you think about HOW humans are made (Woven and Knitted) and what we’re capable of just to survive in this hostile world, we MARVEL as King David did.

Every child ever conceived is MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD, even today.

Genesis 1:27 (NIV) “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

That’s why we can’t commit murder or take another human life (except for the reasons that God gives us in His Word). It most certainly rules out abortion because that infant is inconvenient at this moment in time. Have you ever noticed that when someone wants to kill the baby in the womb, they don’t call it a baby, they call it a foetus? Nobody bats an eyelid when someone has an abortion today. They’ve taken the preciousness out of LIFE.

The focus today is upon the Mother’s human rights, because it’s her body. Because it’s her body she has the right to do with it what she wants. Well, is that TRUE? We’ve got to ask that question today? Is that woman’s body her own? NO! It’s not. It’s not true at all my friends, it’s not her body, because her body belongs to God. You belong to God because He made you and you are His.

Psalm 100:3 (NIV)¬†“Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”

So EVERY baby belongs to God. Every woman belongs to God. Every man, boy, girl, baby belongs to God. You are HIS, you belong to HIM, because HE made you. Therefore the TRUTH is, because you are HIS you don’t have any right to do what you want with your own body. You can only DO what HE gives you permission to do.

When you understand and know and submit to this TRUTH: there’s wonderful FREEDOM, SECURITY and JOY in this precious and awesome life He’s give you.

So if God was there in the forming of your life, He made you, you belong to Him, why did He make you?

2) WHY DID GOD MAKE YOU?

Probably the biggest question human beings ever ask: “Why on earth am I here?”

The LORD has a very special purpose for each human life that is formed and fashioned in the womb.

Think about your family and friends, every one of them is different and unique, they each have skills and abilities that are special to them. Praise God for the amazing diversity in His Creation. However, when you stand back and look at human beings as you would a Gorilla, you think they are all the same, they are NOT. Even monkeys and apes have their own personality. Dogs are all different and so are human beings.

  • Go to any Dairy Farmer and he’ll tell you the personality traits of each and every one of his cows.
  • Go to a Horse Stables: The stable hand will tell you “Every Horse has it’s own traits and personality”.
  • Go visit Battersea Dog’s home, the Staff will tell you the traits of personality of every dog they look after.

My friends, EVERY CREATURE that God makes, has it’s OWN UNIQUE PERSONALITY: LIFE is precious, so precious to God. He makes EVERY CREATURE INDIVIDUALLY.

When we accept this TRUTH, we discover we don’t need to be like someone else. We are made just the way God wants us to be.

God formed us as He wants us to be, and we’ve just got to accept His will, you might not like the way God made you, but look again, because you are BEAUTIFUL to HIM, He loves you just the way you are. You don’t need to change a thing about the way you look because to God, you are PERFECT.

So that removes the temptation to compare ourselves with others or think they are better than us, because you are the way God made you to be. When you can accept that TRUTH, guess what comes into your hearts?

  • PEACE about who you are.
  • JOY about yourself.
  • LOVE because God loves the way He’s made you.
  • CONTENTMENT: You don’t need to change the way you look.
  • PURPOSE: Because of HOW He’s made you, the skills He’s given you, you can use your LIFE for His Glory.

I was so touched the other day when I heard about a man born with short arms and legs, Brian Gault (Google it). “Look, No Hands”

He was a Thalidomide Baby: But He gives thanks and praise to the LORD.

Yes it was because of a DRUG he was malformed, but He knows God made him and put him together in a very special and wonderful way.

You too have been formed by God: So THANK HIM for the way He made you. Live joyfully knowing He loves you. Be contented because you don’t need to change a thing. If someone is putting pressure on you to CHANGE, just tell them, “God made me just the way I am, and I’m happy with that”… Say to yourself “God LOVE me, because He made me who I am”…

3) YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED.

God didn’t just put you together and design you the way you are; He also knows exactly how long you’ve got left on this earth, because each day of your life is written in His book of life.

Psalm 139:16¬† “Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

This includes the length of life (Job 14:5)

Job 14:5 (NIV) “Man’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.”

The tasks He wants us to perform (Eph. 2:10; Phil. 2:12-13).

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Philippians 2:12-13 (NIV) Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed‚ÄĒnot only in my presence, but now much more in my absence; continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 ¬†for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

You are NOT a Robot: You are not a computer program with a pre-determined set of instructions that you must perform as God designed. No my friends, He made you like Himself with a free will, but know this DEEPER TRUTH, God did create you because of HIS LOVE. He loves you enough to let you live in freedom. However, that¬†doesn’t¬†mean we can just live as we choose, He set limits on how we should live on the earth, because you are precious to Him, He cares for you and¬†doesn’t¬†want any harm to come to a single soul that He’s taken the time to make, to knit, to weave. However, God also takes a risk, He wants us to live and enjoy life and choose to live in that freedom within the bounds He’s set.

If we live foolishly, we might die before the time God has ordained. We might loose our right to live by choosing to abuse the privilege of the freedom in this precious life.

Because our days are NUMBERED let’s live them as God wants, because one day we’re going to meet Him and give an account for how we’ve used the gift of life He gave us.

4) IGNORANT OF GOD

Many people today choose to live in ignorance of God. Claiming they KNOW there is no God. They proudly call themselves Atheists (People without a God). or People without a belief in God. When the Bible calls men and woman who believe this “FOOLISH”, he didn’t mean without¬†intelligence, because many Atheists are the most intelligent people on the earth today. However, God means foolish in the sense that they KNOW better. or they SHOULD KNOW BETTER.

It’s like a child being warned not to touch a hot surface because they’ll get burned. They put their hand close and feel the heat, but does that stop them? No! Why? Because they are foolish, they reach out their hand and get burned. An Atheist is ignorant of God on purpose and that’s what’s foolish. That’s why God says;

Psalm 14:1-3 (NIV)
1 ¬†[For the director of music. Of David.] The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no-one who does good.
2  The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
3  All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no-one who does good, not even one.

All the evidence for Gravity has been with us since Creation, but it took Sir Isaac Newton to define the Law of Gravity. He didn’t invent Gravity, He just gave it a name. My friends can you imagine anyone ever saying, “I don’t believe in Gravity because I’ve never seen it”… How foolish that would be.¬†Just as Gravity is REAL, so is God. He made the whole universe as a PROOF that there is a Creator.

If you know someone who’s a proud Atheist, then just tell them to stop being foolish, because they KNOW there is a God. They are just being ignorant on purpose. (Denial is not Just a River).

Romans 1:18-20 (NIV)
18  The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness,
19  since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.
20 ¬†For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities‚ÄĒhis eternal power and divine nature‚ÄĒhave been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men (human beings) are without excuse.

Just one look at Creation tells you there must be a Creator.

Just one look at you fingerprint, your eye, your hair, and you’ll know, “this couldn’t have happened by accident”. You’ll KNOW as King David did, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”. I can just imagine King David, looking at his fingers as he’s composing this Psalm, marveling at their articulation, bending his wrist and arm and thinking “WOWzer! You did a great job Father God. I truly am fearfully and wonderfully made”…

5) What God KNOWS.

Finally, when King David thought about ALL THAT GOD KNOWS, he considered himself a fool in comparison.

Psalm 139:17-18:
17  How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
18  Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

This picture language of King David here is, “Every grain of sand is like just one of God’s precious thoughts” I know I’ll try and count them, One, two, three, four,,,, He falls asleep, He falls asleep trying to count the grains of sand… Then He wakes up and discovers something AWESOME “When I awayke, I am still with you”….

God is still there my friend. He’s with King David when he awakes from his effort to count all of God’s thoughts.

My friends, we cannot FATHOM God, we can’t MEASURE Him: But we can KNOW HIM.

You too can KNOW that God is right here with you today. He’s right beside you, but He wants to be even close than that: He wants to be IN YOU…

Have you experienced the PRESENCE of God in your life today?

YOU CAN: If you’ll just stop trying to figure God out, stop doubting, stop trying to limit God by your human endeavour to know HIM. He’s there, accept it, believe it and know it.

CONCLUSION:

No my friends, God made you, you are HIS, you are fearfully and wonderfully MADE.

When He made you in His Image: He made a perfect soul, with your own personality, your own traits and nature, you are individually and specially crafted by God and He’s given you the breath of life for His purposes. Each day of your life is written in His book of life before even one of them begins.

I’m reminded by a saying that Daniel Cozens used, “I’m not what I should be, I’m not what I could be, I’m not what I will be, but by the grace of God, I am what I am”.

My friends, you are not an accident, you were knitted by God on purpose and for His LOVE.

Praise the LORD today for the way He made you. God doesn’t make mistakes, so go and look in your mirror at home and say to the LORD, “I just thank You Father, for making me, me”… It comes from the Childrens Hymn “If I were a Butterfly”… There’s so much awesome TRUTH in some of our Schoolchildren’s Hymns.

Chorus: (If I were a Butterfly).
For you gave me a heart, And you gave me a smile,
You gave me Jesus, And You made me Your child,
Oh I Just thank you Father, for making me, me.

You are wonderfully made by God.

Praise the LORD!

HOW TO KNOW GOD:

Kind David was a man who was filled and anointed by the Holy Spirit of God. He KNEW God personally. You too can discover the amazing power and presence of God and be filled to overflowing with Holy Spirit.

Are You Living Like A Christian?

moral filthiness, getting rid

Daily Spirit & Word; 650:

Does Your Conversion Affect Your Conduct?

Are You Living Like A Christian?

Good morning my friends, we’re all getting ready for Christmas. I’ve got many different things to do, it’s busy, but I love this time of the year. Thinking about the birth of my Lord Jesus. However, you are, like me, going to be inundated with invitations from the world and the flesh, how are you going to respond?

What a brilliant evening we had with a brother who was struggling to make certain his calling in Christ. Last night as we were doing some training for Street Evangelism, we were joined by a brother who was struggling with fears of all kinds. So we stopped what we were doing and spent some time going over the GOSPEL and the call of the Gospel. He had difficulty knowing how to respond.

However, what became clear was, that though he had previously made “A Profession of Faith”, from his own lips he declared, “Nothing has happened”, “I’m just the same”. What he went onto clarify was that he was still struggling with the same old things, and he didn’t know if he’d really come and trusted Christ. He tried attending worship (sporadically) and praying and reading his Bible, but there was no inward inclination to change his attitude or habits.

Was he saved? Was he a Christian who’d been filled with God’s Spirit? It soon became clear he wasn’t, but last night he finally trusted in Jesus death upon the Cross for his sins and received Him as Lord. Having grasped the full meaning of the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Does Your Conversion Affect Your Conduct?

2 Corinthians 7:1 “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

What promises is the verse referring to?

We must remember that when Paul originally wrote 2nd Corinthians it didn’t have chapter or verse divisions, it was a letter. So looking back in the letter we’ll see “these promises” he’s referring to.

He is of course referring to;  2 Corinthians 6:16-18

16 ¬†What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
17 ¬†“Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”
18 ¬†“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

When we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour: We are born of the Spirit, he takes up residence within our bodies and we become the Temple of the Living God. He’s in us, we are Holy. Verse 18 reveals God’s promise to “be a Father to you”. We are God’s children, His sons and daughters, when we receive Jesus Christ. That’s God’s awesome promise. Also declared in John 1:12-13.

So with these great promises in place in your heart, God is encouraging you to live a moral life: “let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

How can you¬†cleanse¬†yourself? How can we ‘perfect’ holiness?

Christians are often attacked in the media and everyday-life as hypocrites: i.e. “their conduct doesn’t match their profession” and “They say they are ‘Christians’, but they don’t live like Christians should.” No doubt we ALL fail to fully live up to the high calling of purity and holiness of life, but the failure is not CHRISTIANITY or our LORD Jesus Christ, but the fault is with us. It’s because we’re not making use of everything the Lord has provided for our moral conduct in the world: His power and His presence that will enable us to overcome the flesh, the world and the devil.

To cleanse ourselves and to perfect holiness, we need a healthy fear God’s holiness. We don’t fear His person, because He is our Father and we are joint heirs with the Lord Jesus Christ, as God’s children we too are dearly loved, but God is still completely holy and cannot tolerate sin. Our fellowship with Him is broken when we are contaminated and still living in sin (1 John 1:5-10).

I really love the old KJV of the Bible, because it doesn’t mince it’s word choice here, it calls our¬†deliberate dabbling and playing with the disgusting things of this world; “filthiness“.

2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV) “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

The things the people of the world accept as OK are filthy in God’s eyes:

Think about movies, videos, games, adverts on TV, game-shows, TV soaps, magazines and newspapers etc, they are all filled with filthy rubbish that will contaminate the pure mind of the follower of Jesus. Their pages and programs are choc-a-block with sexual scenes, filthy language and blasphemy. Every night on TV you’ll hear people taking the Lord Jesus holy name and using it as a swear word or an expletive. They use Jesus glorious Name as a profane or obscene expression, usually of surprise or anger. We watched a police enforcement program the other day. People caught by the Police were rude, very rude, disgusting use of language to a person in authority. On the News last night, the Police were trying to control the crowds of shoppers in Oxford Street, their language and conduct was appalling towards each other and to the Police. Pushing, shoving, shouting, swearing and queue jumping. Some poor old lady was in tears because she just couldn’t get on a bus, because young people kept jumping in front of her. They’d all been Christmas Shopping.

God wants His children to be pure and holy like He is, because He’s living in us.

That is why God doesn’t want you to defile the Temple of the Living God: your body.

Flesh & Spirit:

How can we ‘purify’ ourselves.

The truth is we can’t, we can’t because only the blood of Jesus can wash away sin. However, we can enlist His Holy help. Jesus Christ is in you, the Holy Spirit is in you, God the Father is in you. Your body is God’s dwelling place, so LIVE as Jesus would. Live as Jesus did, a pure and holy life.

When you fail, you’ll know it.

Your Spirit within you will not be at ease with SIN or moral filthiness.

If you ever get to the point in your ‘Christian’ walk, where you can sin and it doesn’t bother you, you are either UNSAVED in the first place or you’ve been given over to your heart’s desires. You’ll need to REPENT and trust Jesus Christ and receive His Holy Spirit. Confess your weaknesses: to Jesus, to each other. Tell the Lord about how you’ve grown to love sin, how you’ve become enamoured and¬†longing¬†for the dog’s vomit again. How you’ve become like a pig, wallowing in the filthy mud and muck of the world. Ask Him to take away the LOVE of sinning. Pray that He’ll really become for you, the Alpha and the Omega of your daily walk, the first and last of your affections.

Question: Does your conversion match your conduct? Are you a professing Christian who’s living a double life? Publicly attending worship, but secretly thoroughly embedded in the world?

In truth, we’ve all got a tendency towards the flesh and gratifying it’s desires. It’s a daily battle and with the LORD’S help,¬†presence¬†and power you are going to win. You will need to remain connected: with Jesus, with fellowship with brothers and sisters in the faith. You’ll need to keep being filled afresh with God the Holy Spirit. You’ll need to constantly confess and repent and return; sometimes many times a day. However, be assured that it will become a JOY to be Holy as Jesus is Holy. He’ll give you new desires in your heart. You’ll be loving, joyful, kind, gentle, patient, goodness will be evident to all, you’ll be faithful and self-controlled. Get filled-up with God’s Spirit right now.

2 Corinthians 7:1 “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

  • Your body is a Temple of God’s presence.
  • You are a child of God, He is your Father.
  • He’s with you forever.

BE STILL: Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:1-11).

Have an AWESOME DAY of Holiness with Jesus.

Don.

Wisdom: Learning from Children.

Wisdom: from children and infants

Daily Spirit & Word, 626: Wisdom: Learning from Children.

“From the lips of infants and children, You have ordained praise…” Psalm 8:2.

Good morning my friends, at Discipleship Fellowship last night we were thinking about wimpy prayer, praise and worship. The Lord certainly was with us last night and our prayer, praise and worship was awesome! Genuinely giving thanks to the Lord and singing about what He’s like moves us from the outer gates into the inner courts of excited praise. (Psalm 100).

As we gathered we sang one of the famous children’s praise songs; “If I were a butterfly” … but it leads into praising the Lord for how He’s made us.

Chorus: (from ‘If I were a butterfly’).
For You gave me a heart,
and You gave me a smile,
You gave me Jesus,
and You made me Your child,
I just thank you Father for making me, me.

Here then are some pearls of WISDOM from children:

1) No matter how hard you try, you can’t baptize cats.
2) When your Mom is mad at your Dad, don’t let her brush your hair.
3) If your school-friend hits you, don’t hit back: They always catch the second person.
4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
5) You can’t trust dogs to watch your food.
6) Don’t sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
8) You can’t hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.¬†
9)The best place to be when you’re sad is Grandpa’s lap.

Wisdom: From the lips of children.

As Jesus was teaching in the Temple in Jerusalem: Some children began to praise Him and sing about Jesus, but the RELIGIOUS Authorities didn’t like what the children were saying about Jesus.

Matthew 21:12-17 Jesus clears the temple, heals and listens to Children’s praise.
12 Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the benches of those selling doves.
13 ¬†“It is written,” he said to them, ” ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it a ‘den of robbers’.”
14  The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.
15 ¬†But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.
16 ¬†“Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, ” ‘From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise’?”
17  And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.

Who is it that should have been praising the Lord?

  • That’s right, the Religious Leaders and people.¬†
  • Who was it that actually praise the Lord that day?
    • The blind and lame people who came to Him.
    • The blind and lame were healed.¬†
    • the children shouting in the Temple area
    • they Worshipped Jesus: “Hosanna to the Son of David”…

Jesus said, “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise

He was actually quoting Psalm 8:2. Perhaps that portion of the Psalm was prophetic?

How is your Praise and Worship this morning?
Are you coming to Jesus?

Just as the children responded from their hearts, giving genuine praise, honour and thanks, the followers of Jesus Christ will also be thankful on purpose, moved in our hearts to praise Him. If you are¬†not ready to do this right now, then KNOW (Wisdom) something in your walk with Jesus may need to be put right. Come to Him now in a time of prayer, giving genuine thanks for all the great things He’s done for you. Remember how Jesus shed His innocent blood to get you clean before God? Remember those answered prayers. Thank God for His provision of the Creation. There’s Always something to be thankful for.

Prayer: Father in Heaven, I thank You that from the lips of children we can learn so much wisdom, both in the past and today. Help us to have a heart that’s ready to praise You: for what You’ve done and for Who You are. Help us Lord Jesus to be just like those who came to you that day, with hearts ready to give You praise, honour and all the glory. Amen!

Be blessed today my friends, stay ever closer to Jesus.
Don.

Psalm 8:1-9 Creator God: Worthy of Worship.
1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
2  From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
3  When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4  what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
5  You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honour.
6  You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:
7  all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,
8  the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
9  O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Wondering Why?

War, Famine, Refugees, Injustice, Pain, Hurt, Jesus, Hope, Faith and LOVE

Daily Spirit & Word: 613: Wondering Why?

“He WILL Wipe Away EVERY Tear From Their Eyes”

Good morning everyone, last night was the first real cold evening of the year, with a cold wind, slight drizzle and brooding sky we ventured out to share the Good News on the Streets. Understandably we got into very few¬†lengthy¬†conversations with people, but handed out more tracts than we’ve ever done. However, Sherrie was the one last night who did manage to have a long conversation with a woman who attended the local Roman Catholic church for over 30 years. She was a devout Catholic, but didn’t know the Bible at all, had no assurance of her Salvation, and just trusted in her ‘religion’ to save her. She didn’t know Jesus as Lord or Saviour. It’s such a shame that a person can be fooled into thinking that being ‘religious’ will save them on the day of judgement. Sherrie gently shared the Good News and the woman, who was in a rush to get home initially, stopped for over 20 mins chatting, listening and asking questions.

One thing the Catholic woman said was, “Nobody Knows what Heaven is like, because no one has come back to tell us”.

However, we do have one who came down from Heaven to tell us, not so much what it is like, but to get ready and get right so that we will be able to get into Heaven when we die. Sherrie unpacked that TRUTH for the woman last night.

  • We do not know, but God has promised that one day we will know EVERYTHING.
  • We don’t know why there is so much suffering and harsh treatment of innocent people.
  • We don’t know why there are dictators who care little about their own citizens.
  • We don’t know why men will scheme and go to war to kill thousands with bombs and bullets.
  • We don’t know why the good people suffer, whilst evil people seem to prosper.

However, we do know that one day we will KNOW EVERYTHING.

It’s just that the LORD wants us to trust Him, even though we don’t know everything now.

Not knowing why God allows these things does not mean that He’s lost control or is powerless to do something about it. He does in fact, but we can’t often see the¬†forest¬†for the trees. When we look at the reverse side of a tapestry it just looks like a complete mess, but turn it over and we observe the magnificent beauty of delicately crafted and skilful needlework, but it’s not until we take a few steps back that we see the whole picture and it’s AWESOME. When we get to Heaven, we’re going to see and know what they Lord has been doing all along in Human history. He will be glorified: and we will praise Him for His magnificent beauty of holiness.

When Job had lost everything he had, except his own life, he just knelt down and worshipped the Lord. He declared,

Job 1:18-22
18 ¬†While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, “Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother’s house,¬†19 ¬†when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!”
20 ¬†At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship¬†21 ¬†and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.”¬†22 ¬†In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.

My friends, we don’t KNOW it all just now in this life, but we still worship, trust and praise the LORD. We are not overjoyed about the evil that’s happening, but we can be at PEACE through everything that comes upon us and the people that we love in this world.

1 Corinthians 13:12-13
12  Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. 13  And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

That’s why there are no real Atheists, because they don’t KNOW everything, to say that there is definitely no God who Created everything is logically flawed, to be able to say that with conviction, you’d have to know everything. But we don’t even know very much about the Earth, not really, we’re just sitting on the top of an iceberg of understanding, we can’t even see what’s beneath the surface, yet. In some place or space in the universe that we don’t know, is there room for the God who could have made it all? Of course there is, because He did: It may seem disorderly and random, but just take a look through the microscope and you’ll¬†observe¬†wonders to behold; order and structure and amazing beauty. You’ll see the fingerprints of God and marvel at the Creative genius behind it all.

We don’t know WHY He allows so much evil to persist upon the earth between human beings, but we can still have; faith, hope and love through life: When we get to the Lord’s side, then we will know fully, even as we are fully known by the Lord.

In the meantime, He’s given us work to do for His Kingdom and Glory: He wants us all to be on His rescue mission, to save as many souls as we can for His Heaven. Let’s just keep at it, for when one soul is saved and delivered from the slavery of sin to the freedom of the Saints, they too will be about the Lord’s work and will be filled with the HOPE of Heaven in their hearts.

There is also so much good we can do to¬†alleviate¬†the suffering and injustice in this world too: We can be an influence for good and for peace. Think about the STREET CHILDREN around the world, they live in constant fear, suffer hunger and incredible injustice. The authorities seem to hate them and they are living with the dread of something happening to them at the hands of evil men. Think about places upon the earth when people are fleeing war or famine or disaster; be filled afresh with God’s compassion and get involved. We can all do something, even if it’s something small, it all helps to spread the good and the LOVE of God.

  • We can pray and seek God’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. That’s what Jesus told us to pray for.
  • We can pray and ask for daily bread, not just for ourselves, but for those who don’t have any.
  • We can pray and be part of God’s Healing for people; when you pray and lay your hands upon people in the power of God’s Holy Spirit, miracles can and still do happen for people who don’t even know the Lord yet.

When you weep at the injustice and brutality of evil regimes upon the earth, bring those tears to God and ask for Him to bring His swift justice for the poor and the weak and those who can’t speak for themselves. The Israelites were in bondage in Egypt for over 200 years, then the Lord heard their cries and brought the Ten Plagues upon Egypt. He does things in His own time, but we can and should be crying out to Him. Perhaps He’s just waiting for your prayers today and then He’ll move???? You know my friends, God cares far more about injustice than we do. He loves far more than we do. He is in control of the situation and will move in His own good time: Watch and Pray!

In the meantime we have God’s PROMISES:

Revelation 21:3-8
3 ¬†And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
4 ¬†He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 ¬†He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 ¬†He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.
7  He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
8 ¬†But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practise magic arts, the idolaters and all liars‚ÄĒtheir place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulphur. This is the second death.”

Have an awesome Thursday with Jesus.

Stay close, worship Him no matter what you are feeling like today.

Don.

Grandmother and Mother’s Sincere Faith

Grandmother and Mother’s Sincere Faith.

The Church Today NEEDS faithful, Praying, Grandmothers, Mums, Dads and Granddads.
The Church Today NEEDS faithful, Praying, Grandmothers, Mums, Dads and Granddads.

Daily Spirit & Word, 445: Grandmother and Mother’s Sincere Faith.

The Church today needs more faithful Grandmothers and Mothers, who’ll be able to ignite the faith of Jesus Christ in their children and grandchildren.

Good morning my friends, I was really encouraged this morning reading through 2 Timothy, by Paul’s devotion to praying for him and the way that Paul was encouraging Timothy in so many ways. The things that jumped out at me were having people in our lives who are inspirations to keep us going, examples that we can follow and emulate and encouragements to know that because God was active in their lives, He’ll also be with us on the journey too.

2 Timothy 1:3-7

“I thank God, whom I serve, as my forefathers did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.¬†Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy.¬†I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.¬†For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.¬†For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”

 Faithful In Prayer:

When children observe a Mother praying at home regularly. When she has a sincere faith it will leave a life-long impression upon her children and even her grandchildren.

¬†Firstly notice Paul’s own Faithfulness in Prayer:

“I thank God, who I serve, as my forefathers did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.”
Paul’s remembering back to his faithful praying ancestors: It’s good for us as Christians to have heroes of the faith, men and women of prayer who’ve served the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully in all kinds of circumstances. When I was a young Christian some old saint gave me a book and said, “Read this, pray about it and ask God to help you to be a Christian like some of these were”. I took that book with me to sea and read it upon my bunk on the Submarine hundreds of feet below the surface of the icy cold waters of the North Atlantic. I was, as far as I knew, the only Christian aboard. It soon became known that I was using a room on the Boat for prayers, for months no one joined me. Then a young man, Shawn Frow, gave his life to the Lord and we began to meet almost every day; to pray, read the Bible and sing and praise the Lord. Me upon my guitar and he with faltering voice because he’d never sang hymns of praise in his life before. I shared the contents of the book with Sean and together we marvelled at the old saints. We were encouraged aboard a boat full of unrepentant sinners to be faithful to the Lord in all things and to be His witnesses. People began to be interested and requested the Bibles that took up half my bunk. I’d intended to give them away to folks, but it¬†didn’t’ begin happening until young Shawn became a believer and we prayed together about it.

When you think about FAITHFUL Christians and how they served the Lord and what the Lord did through their lives, you too will be encouraged in your own situations, you’ll be enthused to walk as Jesus did, in faith and power of the Holy Spirit. So I would encourage you to get to know the Saints of the past as Paul did, his “faithful praying ancestor”s. Even if you don’t have any in your own immediate family who love the Lord, then you have them in abundance in the Lord’s Family of believers. Read, study and meditate upon the lives of people like: George Muller, Isobel Khun, Billy Bray, David Brainerd, Robert Annan, David Wilkerson and Jackie Pullinger. Faithful saints who gave up the world to follow Jesus and it’ll blow-your-socks-off what Jesus did in and through their lives; but what was it that made them so great, such¬†heroes¬†of the faith? PRAYER and BEING WITH JESUS REGULARLY.

Heroes of the Fath: Susanna Wesley:

Here’s a little account of Susanna Wesley (The Mother of John and Charles Wesley, the Great Methodist Preachers and Hymn Writers).
“Since there were no afternoon church services, Susanna began an evening family gathering where they sang psalms, prayed and Susanna read a short sermon from her husband‚Äôs library. It began with the family and the servants but soon word spread and others neighbors appeared, and soon there were too many for the parsonage. Susanna had written her husband of what she was doing, but then in his own letter when he perhaps saw the services as competition, Mr. Inman complained to Samuel. His claim to Samuel was that such irregular services could cause criticism or even scandal for the church. For while women have been ordained in many Methodist churches for more than 50 years at that time the idea of a woman having any part in a worship service ‚Äď even in her own home ‚Äď was unheard of. Samuel suggested to Susanna that she have someone else read the sermons, but still Mr. Inman complained and finally Samuel told Susanna to discontinue the meetings. However, she declined as she described how the meetings were a genuine and effective ministry to those who attended and that Mr. Inman was about the only one who‚Äėd objected. The services continued.” Taken from the site History’s Women¬†Read more about Susanna by clicking the link.

NEXT Timothy is encouraged to do the same thing too: To remember the faithfulness of his own Grandmother and Mother. In an ideal world there would be generations of faithful relatives who loved the Lord Jesus, but I know that most people today, who come to faith, have very few of the Lord’s anointed in our families. My own mother became a Christian on her death-bed, my father became a Christian whilst in a coma; both of whom had been witnessed to by my brother Paul and I for years. We’d shared the Gospel, read the Bible, prayed for them, but they stubbornly refused to trust in Jesus, until they were in a desperate situation.

However, Timothy had that witness. I’ve found as I’ve studied Timothy that Paul must have regarded him as a bit timid a bit weak in his faith and frightened to carry out his commission. His letters to Timothy are so full of encouragement to be faithful, to keep going, to be prepared to suffer for the Gospel.

Sometimes, having faithful relatives and strong Christians in our family is NO guarantee that the faith they have will be shared by every member of the family. We meet people out on the streets of London every week who’ll say, “My grandmother was a woman of prayer”. As if that faithful old saint was enough, they didn’t need to do it themselves, because she did it for the whole family. I aways respond with “What about you?” Paul said, “I’m persuaded is in you”. He needed to be persuaded, to be convinced, to have it certified that Timothy really did have that same faith as his grandmother and mother. But he’d become convinced of it. Notice too that Paul was praying for Him day and night. I pray for my friends and some of you I pray for every single day, but I don’t pray for you DAY & NIGHT like Paul did for Timothy. He must have thought that Timothy needed his prayers, that something was lacking in his walk with Jesus.

There’s NO Second-Hand Faith in God’s Family.
I’ve found that when there’s been a very strong person of faith in a family, the rest of the family are not very fire-filled, they are like the Laodican Church in the book of Revelation; Luke Warm Believers. They don’t have the same kind of compulsion, zeal, commitment and drive to serve the Lord wholeheartedly. I’m not sure why that is, but it seems that a totally surrendered life and a faithful life to members of ones own family is a hindrance to those who live with them and know them personally. It’s like they depend upon the faith of the faith-filled rather than cultivate their own faith. I’ve known many Preachers children, great preachers and wonderful men and women of God, who’s own children’s faith is almost non-existent. I know they must be praying for them, witnessing to them and sharing Jesus with them constantly. But we must always bear in mind: “Remember there are no second-hand Christians in God’s Family.” We must all come to Saviour for ourselves. We are not Christians because our Grandmother or Mother was a believer. Perhaps Paul was wondering if Timothy really had been born-again of the Holy Spirit, he’d laid hands upon him to receive the gift, but wasn’t convinced it was a genuine conversion, because he’d not seen the evidence of it, but now he’s writing and he’s been persuaded and convinced (we don’t know how).

We do need faithful Mothers, Grandmothers, Brothers, Fathers, Sisters of the faith today; who’ll encourage family members, who’ll pray for their children and grandchildren, but who’ll also lead them to the Lord so that the children will be set on fire with love for Jesus too.¬†

My four year old granddaughter Leila is a natural evangelist. She lives in South London, in Thornton Heath, which is an area full of Muslims. She can identify a Muslim and said to me the other day, “That lady is a Muslim grandpa, but we’re Christians”. She was out shopping with her mother in Tesco and at the check-out asked the Teller “Are you a Muslim? I’m a Christian, I love Jesus. You should love Jesus too”… She’s only FOUR and is a bold as a lion. Her mother, my daughter, apologised for her and said to her, “You don’t ask people that!”. There’s NO second-hand faith in the family of God. Each and every individual needs to come on their own to Jesus Christ, in faith, in repentance and to take Him as their own Master, Lord and King.

I hope and pray that Timothy was faithful and continued in the faith, we just don’t know. Paul wanted him to “fan into flames” that gift of the Spirit. My friends, I want every Christian to be FULL OF FIRE OF THE LORD JESUS, AND FULL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

READ REVELATIONS:

No Second-Hand Faith in the Family of God.

Revelation 3:14-22

14¬†“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.¬†15 ¬†I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!¬†16 ¬†So, because you are lukewarm‚ÄĒneither hot nor cold‚ÄĒI am about to spit you out of my mouth.¬†17 ¬†You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realise that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.¬†18 ¬†I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so that you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so that you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so that you can see.¬†19 ¬†Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.¬†20 ¬†Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.¬†21 ¬†To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.¬†22 ¬†He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

As Paul said, “God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”

My friends, the weekend is coming, keep going with Jesus, gather with the saints on Sunday, worship Him, Love Him, Serve Him. He’s with you, in you and will encourage you to keep going in the strength that He provides. Mothers, keep praying for your children, but lead them to the Saviour for themselves. Grandmothers, pray for your grand-kids that they’ll get the FIRE for themselves. The Church today desperately needs faithful, fire-filled Grandmothers and mums, dads and granddads.
