Immanuel God With Us

Immanuel, Emmanuel, How to know that God is With Us.

Daily Spirit & Word: 814: The Meaning of Immanuel.

Good morning my friends, as I was just about to post my message today when I heard the tragic news about that terrible plane crash. It was carrying a Brazilian football team. (Link BBC NEWS)

I’m praying now for all those who’ve been affected by this disaster.

Immanuel:

It’s a word we hear every Christmas, but like a lot of religious words, we’ve lost its meaning somehow along the way. Or if we do know what it means, the impact of that meaning is not hitting home. Because of all the hustle and bustle and the haste to buy stuff, far too many Christians aren’t looking forward to Christmas, but we can re-capture the MAGICAL feelings we had as children, all the excitement, joy and wonder of Christmas. It happens as we experience IMMANUEL for ourselves.

What does Immanuel mean?

Immanuel means: “God with us”.

Let’s unpack IMMANUEL a bit…

Matthew 1:23 (NIV)  “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.”

This is a quote from Isaiah the great Prophet of the LORD. Isaiah 7:14.

Immanuel means “God with us”…

When Jesus was born, he was a baby human being, he became one of us, but He was also still God, just wrapped in flesh.

Some people call this taking on human flesh, the INCARNATION:

Now when you dwell upon that fact, The CREATOR of the whole Universe and time itself, came to Earth. Out of all the billions of little planets, he chose EARTH to come and reveal Himself to His Creation. Awesome!

Of course He came for a reason, Jesus was coming on a rescue mission.

It’s a bit like the Government sending in the SAS to set free the prisoners held hostage by the Iranian Terrorists in the Iranian Embassy in London in the 1980’s. LINK in that BBC News coverage you’ll see them storming the burning building.

https://youtu.be/_p4DmuGyehc

Jesus, of course, didn’t come with guns blazing, smoke going off and bombs sounding, nor did He arrive with an army to win His battle, instead Jesus came and Heaven burst into song and God let the Shepherds experience Heaven for a moment. Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe gave His life upon the Cross for all mankind to be set free. However, his birth and death was even more dramatic than that SAS rescue. He was publically executed, with the crowds watching. Alongside at least two others that day Jesus public humiliation and death was a victory. Though the world at that time didn’t realise they’d just killed Immanuel: God with us.

However, we know that His death was not the end, because just three days later, Jesus, because He was always God, came back to life again. His mission was completed and His body is alive today in Heaven where He ascended over 2000 years ago. The next time anyone is going to see Jesus, apart from in visions and dreams, is when He returns in all the glory of Heaven.

YOUR IMMANUEL MOMENT

But before Jesus comes back, we’ve been given an opportunity to get to know Him. We can know Immanuel, God with us, personally right now. We can experience God and know God… Have you had your own Immanuel? Do you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God is with you?

Once you experience Immanuel for yourself, nothing will ever be able to take away that experience, it will transform you life forever. Because God becomes your Immanuel, Jesus promised this very thing for everyone who believes and trusts in Him.

John 14:23 (NIV) Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”

Once Jesus comes into your life, He comes in TRINITY: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Your own body becomes the TEMPLE of God, because wherever God is, that is His Temple. When He comes as promised, that is your Immanuel moment, but it lasts forever.

HERE IS HOW TO KNOW IF YOU’VE RECEIVED YOUR IMMANUEL:

You’ll know Him, if you LOVE Him.

You’ll know if you love Jesus Christ. When you hear his name, your heart skips a beat. It’s like He’s inside you witnessing within, that He’s here. Oh yes, you’ll know if you love Jesus.

Nobody needs to tell you when you are in love with another person, your heart, mind, will and strength are for that relationship. You’ll do whatever you can to be with your lover. When you are apart, you’ll always long to be together. I knew when I was in love with my soon to be wife Julie, because I was over 200 miles away, and all I longed for was the evenings when I could get to a telephone box (no mobile phones in those days), to call her at her house. We’d spend ages chatting about nothing on that phone, until my money ran out. When you are together, its like you are in the place that you’ve always belonged. All you want to do when you are in love is hold that person as close as possible, it’s like the two have become one. That’s real LOVE! That’s how you know you love Jesus, when you are ONE with Jesus.

You’ll know if He is your LORD:

When Jesus is your LORD, then you will be prepared to do whatever He tells you. It won’t be a burden to you to be obedient to Jesus, because you’ll be in love with serving Him. He’s your beloved King and you’d willing die in His service.

You’ll know if He is your Immanuel:

You’ll know if you’ve submitted your life to Him, because your desires will be changed and you’ll want to live in obedience to Jesus commands and teachings. That’s how you know if you’ve experienced Immanuel for yourself.

So HOW do we get our own IMMANUEL?

“Come, oh come Immanuel…” (The Christmas Carol).

Invite the LORD to come into your life right now.

Believe in the LORD Jesus Christ: It’s easy to say, “Oh yes, I believe in Jesus”, but that doesn’t mean that you are BELIEVING IN Jesus; i.e. trusting that He has died upon the cross for your sins and that you’ve received Him as your Lord and Saviour. In order to do that, you’ll first need to be CONVICTED by the Holy Spirit that you are indeed a guilty sinner.

Confess any known sin in your life. Confession means to own it, to acknowledge that it was you, that you are guilty of sin. It’s like a prisoner standing before a judge and he asks the person in the dock, “How do you plead?”, when you’re ready to confess your sins you’ll respond to the Judge of the Universe, “Guilty as charged your Honour”… If you are not convinced you are a sinner, then GOOGLE the Ten Commandment; you’ll soon see your guilty heart. They are like looking into a mirror, they reflect the condition of your heart. Those commandments of God, not suggestions, are still applicable today. God has not changed, His standards of Holiness will always be the same.

In our Baptism service, the candidate is asked, “Do you turn from sin?” and “Do you repent of your sins?” and “Do you renounce sin?” These questions reflect a willingness to let go of sins hold on your life. But please note, it doesn’t mean you have the ability in your own strength not to sin again, it’s just a willingness to let go of sin. You will get the POWER to say “No” to sin once you’ve received your Immanuel, God with you, He’ll come into your life in the power of the Holy Spirit and He’ll enable you to live righteously in holiness of life. Remember what Jesus promised the Holy Spirit will do;

John 16:8 (NIV) The Promise of Holy Spirit Conviction. “When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:…”

The Holy Spirit will show you your guilt, that you are a sinner, that you are not righteous enough and that one day the LORD is going to judge you.

How will you plead today?

If you died right now, and appeared before God, what would you say when He asks you, “How do you plead, have you ever sinned? Have you ever broken one of My Commandments?”

Like the rest of us, like every sinful soul on earth, you’d have to say, “Lord, You know all things, You know that I’ve sinned”… However, if you have received Jesus as Lord and Saviour, then all your sins will be washed away, you’ll be clean, your conscience will be clear and you’ll approach the Throne of Judgement with boldness, knowing that you are a forgiven sinner who’s been washed in the blood of God’s Holy Lamb. If you’ve believed, repented, renounced sin and received Jesus as Lord then you’ll already have been made into a Saint by Jesus Christ, the Bible calls that SANCTIFICATION (Being made into a saint, by trusting in Christ).

I’m writing all of this today, because I want every reader to know and experience their own Immanuel moment, that time when you purposefully turn from sin and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

So I’m Praying:

  • I’m praying that everyone I know and love will come to Jesus and experience Immanuel for themselves.
  • I’m praying that Holy Spirit will give them a soft heart to be open to God.
  • I’m praying that He will convict them of their sinful condition.
  • I’m praying that He will show them there is a judgement to come.
  • I’m praying that He will reveal to them, the way of Salvation.
  • I’m praying that He will show them the life of Holiness is a joy filled life.
  • I’m praying that He will give them a desire for freedom.
  • I’m praying that He will give them a hunger that this world cannot satisfy.

Father I’m praying all these prayers for those that You love and that I love in the Name of your Son, my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen!

And I am full of faith, expectancy and sure and certain HOPE that You will answer my prayer Father, because I’m believing Jesus’ promises.

John 16:24 (NIV) “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” Amen!

Have an awesome Tuesday my friends,

Join me in praying for all those who are grieving because of that plane crash in Brazil.

Stay close to Jesus and experience your own Immanuel,

Don.

Christmas Means Present Time

give the BEST present this Christmas

Daily Spirit & Word; 647: Christmas Means Present Time.

Good morning everyone, it’s coming you know, Christmas is coming, it will soon be here. And you know what that means don’t you? It’s Christmas Present Time. Christmas Means Present Time. Be honest that’s what most of us LOVE about Christmas: Presents.

Giving and Receiving Gifts: That’s What God loves about Christmas too.

GREAT CHRISTMAS PRESENTS:

I don’t know about you, but I really LOVE opening presents that are just for me. When you get a package that’s been lovingly wrapped, a little name tag says, “To Donald” and it’s sealed with a kiss and lots of lovely XXXXXXX. Then you KNOW in your heart it’s going to be something very special. It makes my heart miss a beat, the moment just before I open the present. Then as you tear open the wrapping paper, your present emerges and it’s the thing you’ve been wanting for ages. WOWzer! How awesome is that?

What great Christmas presents have your received?

DUFFER CHRISTMAS PRESENTS:

But I’ve also received some quite DUFFER GIFTS: These are the ones, you pick them up; they’re not wrapped with care or concern, they’re not sealed with a kiss, they’re just given because someone felt they HAD TO GIVE SOMETHING; and you know what’s inside; Socks, A Pencil and Rubber, Tea Towels, Tissues, Handkerchiefs (Winter means runny-nose time), These are the gifts, that just like God, “He didn’t look with FAVOUR upon Cain’s gift or offering”.

Genesis 4:3-5
3  In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD.
4  But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favour on Abel and his offering, 5  but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favour. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

Duffer Presents: They don’t make your little heart skip with joy.

(NOTE: It’s not the value of a gift: It’s the WAY it’s given. For even a pair of socks, wrapped with love and sealed with a kiss, from a poor person, is a wonderful gift).

What DUFFER Christmas gifts have you received?

THE BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENTS:

We’ve thought about; Great Christmas Presents and Duffer Christmas Presents, but what’s the BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT?

What’s the BEST Christmas Present you’ve EVER received?

FIRST: GOD GAVE HIS BEST GIFT TO US.

“For God so LOVED the WORLD, that He GAVE His ONE and ONLY SON” John 3:16.

A great gift is good, but the BEST gifts are very costly indeed.

You know there’s THE MOST SPECIAL GIFT and it’s waiting for you to unwrap this Christmas time.

  • It’s the BEST GIFT that anyone could EVER give you.
  • It’s got YOUR NAME upon it.
  • It’s sealed with a KISS (X).
  • It’s wrapped up with loving care.
  • You know what that BEST GIFT IS?
  • It’s JESUS.

He is the Good Shepherd: He GAVE HIS LIFE for His Sheep.

SECONDLY: GOD WANTS US TO GIVE HIM THE BEST GIFT.

Our children have been learning all about the Creation: How God made the whole of the Universe in just six days and then rested. But the pinnacle, the high-point of God’s Creation, do you know what that was? It was Mankind. Human Beings: Because we were the only part of God’s Creation that was made in His image. “In the Image of God He created them, male and female, He Created them”. We are God’s BEST part of His Creation, because we’re the ONLY part made like Him. In His IMAGE.

You are God’s BEST and the BEST GIFT you could ever give back to God is; YOURSELF.

When Adam and Eve decided to EAT the forbidden fruit, God’s BEST became separated. Sin separates us from God. It also became corrupted by Sin. That’s why God decided to send the BEST GIFT: His Son Jesus into the world.

God wants the BEST GIFT you can give Him: Yourself.

It’s coming back into the right relationship that God Created you to have with Himself.

ALL God wants for Christmas is YOU.

Like the Christmas Carol: In the Bleak Mid Winter:

“What can I give Him, Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a wise man, I would do my part;
Yet what can I give Him – Give my heart.

CONCLUSION:

CHRISTMAS MEANS PRESENT TIME:

The GIVING and RECEIVING of GIFTS.

There are great presents, duffer presents and the BEST Presents.

GOD’S GIVEN THE BEST PRESENT: But, have you received Him yet?

GOD WANTS THE BEST PRESENT: But, have you given it to Him yet?

He wants to give you HIMSELF.

He wants you to give HIM YOURSELF.

But; THE BEST PRESENT: IS JESUS: We must receive the Gift of Jesus. The BEST PRESENT anyone can ever receive.

We must Ask to Receive Jesus:

Matthew 7:7-11
7  “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
8  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
9  “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
10  Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
11  If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

We do that by recognising our sinfulness, that fact that we don’t deserve this best and most costly and precious of PRESENTS, it cost Jesus His life in order to be able to give us His best: Himself FOR OUR BEST; NEW LIFE AND ETERNAL LIFE.

John 3:16 God’s Christmas Present: The BEST.
16  “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

THE BEST TIME: IS THE PRESENT TIME.

The best time to receive the best present ever is the present moment. It’s NOW!

We don’t need to wait until Christmas Day to receive God’s BEST PRESENT.

We can receive God’s BEST PRESENT: PRESENTLY.

WHEN YOU GIVE YOUR BEST PRESENT TO GOD: Yourself.

YOU GET GOD’S BEST PRESENT: Jesus.

“Yet what can I give HIM, give my HEART”

Receive Jesus and you’ll receive a NEW HEART in exchange for your old one.

I was walking the other day in a place called the Friars in Kent. I saw a beautiful plaque in the chapel it read,

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

He gives you a NEW HEART, NEW LIFE, NEW FAMILY, NEW NAME, NEW DESTINY, (ALL THINGS have become NEW).

The OLD has gone. It’s ALL NEW. The NEW has come.

God’s BEST Christmas PRESENT is WAITING for YOU: Your NEW CREATION: Your NEW SELF.

You get it when you give God the best gift you can ever give to Him: Yourself.

Are you ready for Christmas TIME: Christmas Means Presents:

There’s NOTHING like the PRESENT TIME: To give and receive the BEST PRESENTS.

Receive Jesus NOW: By confessing your sins, Believe in your heart that Jesus (Paid the Cost for the BEST Present with His life) died on the Cross, so that you can be forgiven, receive Him as Lord and Saviour. He’ll save you from God’s wrath and anger against sin, save you from Hell, give you a new heart, new life, new family, new destiny today. Presently. The MOMENT you receive Jesus as Lord by Faith; that the moment you receive God’s BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT.

PRAYER: I wan’t all my friends to be able to get the BEST PRESENT that they can ever have: Jesus. O Lord, lead all my friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to that point of receiving the BEST Christmas Present ever; Your One and Only Son Jesus Christ. I know that you’ve given Jesus because you LOVE them and you want them to receive the BEST in this life and the next. Amen.

Have a wonderful Christmas my friends.

Don.

Fear NOT for I AM with you

The presence of God takes away FEAR

Daily Spirit & Word: 644: Good News: Great Joy.

#AdventChallenge #Actsofkindness

Luke 2:10-11
10  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
11  Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

What an AWESOME message from Heaven.

An Angel speaking to a group of shepherds.

First: Don’t Be Afraid.

Normally, when people see an Angel they fall down to the ground. They are dumbstruck. How would you be? I think I would be a bit scared if an Angel suddenly appeared to me. I think the Shepherds would have needed that message, “Don’t be afraid”…

Many times Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid”… and God in the Old Testament…

It seems to me, we live in a world that IS afraid and fear is the No1 stealer of your PEACE.

  • Fear of Terrorists.
  • Fear of Loosing your job.
  • Fear of marriage / relationship breakdown.
  • Fear of LACK of finances for the family.
  • Fear of getting ill, sickness and disease.
  • Fear of Nature: Storms, Global Warming.
  • Fear of other people; Open Spaces: Knife Crime makes youngsters afraid of going out at night in London. or out of their areas.

FEAR is Crippling:

Only yesterday, I met a man who was AFRAID of his neighbours.

But Jesus said, the Angels said and God has said, “Do NOT be afraid, be of good courage”…

Fear NOT what man can do to you.

Today: I’m going to walk in God’s FREEDOM FROM FEAR.

Help someone today, be NICE to every stranger you meet.

Say “Hello” or “Hi” to a STRANGER today.

My father-in-law was a Sales Manager for Nestles in the UK: He said to his team, “Tell your salesmen, A smile provokes a smile, and they’ll see it’s true”… I listened to my father-in-law: It is TRUE…

It’s amazing when you “Smile”: A smile provokes a smile.

 🙂  “A Smile Provokes A Smile”  😎

Be Friendly: you’ll see how easy it is for FEAR to subside.

Why Should Christians NOT FEAR?

Because God is WITH us, He’s actually in you, if you are a Christian.

Emmanuel means: God with us.

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

What a thought, every Christian needn’t be AFRAID at all, of anything; Because God is WITH US.

Spread the LOVE: Share Jesus today. Help to take FEAR away by being Unafraid.

#Actsofkindness

Don.

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
